You are truly a blessing and such a giving person to share ideas, tips and products with us. Most artist make it to certain levels and truly become selfish to beginners like myself.
+Katrina Mosley I was once a beginner. Beginners are the most passionate about drawing and that warms my heart. It's a skill and should be shared. Thanks for yr comment
I NEEDED THIS! It's so hard to find how to draw black people's curly hair! Even with drawing the dark skin is hard to find here. Thanks for this and the other vids.
@@jeanettematlock3682 We all know they have curly hair that is mostly loose. Most white people don't have 4C curly hair, which is way tighter and together that you literally don't see in most art tutorials except as just puffs of hair in cartoons. This video is helpful to get the fro, twists look.
why “black people”? I am Mexican/Latino and have very coily/kinky curls (about 3c), so goes to show that black people don’t just have coily/kinky hair. Sometimes people like you just make the world dumber, so get your facts straight before commenting, pendejo
I love your philosophy on encouraging and nurturing children to develop their talents. Growing up, my family struggled financially, but I was blessed with an uncle who saw a glimmer of drawing talent in me. He bought me my first "artist kit," with graphite and charcoal pencils, a kneaded eraser and little instruction book. Let me say that having someone there to develop that latent talent kept me out of heaps of trouble. Keep up the great work, Marie.
Love it! Love it! Love it! Not enough could be said about how therapeutic this practice is. Thanks for sharing your technique as well as your knowledge.
I'd always wondered how to work with pastels but using a q-tip seems so smart. I've been learning how to draw different types of hair and your tutorial is great.
Thank you so much for this video! Thank you for the step by step, for not being secretive, and for teaching so well how to draw realistic curly hair. There are just not enough tutorials for drawing hair of people of African descent. I love it!!
Artist Marie Lowe I'm gonna try it out tonight.. today I figured out how to draw the back of a female head so now I'll have to try and interpret this into it.. ( I'm trying to draw myself..😉)
thank you for sharing i have wanted to learn how to draw for some time watching others helps . thank for showing how to draw textured hair curly ect. blessing Tia
Totally amazing and one of the best videos I have seen on how to draw curly/afro hair! I just subbed and will be watching all of your videos now. Thanks for sharing your gift with us.
+My Book Habit thank you for the love and support! I will be doing a line of drawings celebrating different types and styles of curly/Afro hair as i haven't found so many videos on this specifically. Maybe a few videos on different curl patterns. I hope you will enjoy 👍🏽
That's amazing.. I got scared when i saw the pastel and the q tip so stayed watching . looks so good. For me i have to understand the hair to draw it..
Your skill set is awesome! Watching your videos I've learned how to draw natural hair for women of color. Adding this video to my collection of must learn videos for natural hair. I'll look for your future videos. Thank you!
Damn girl I'm looking at this with my mouth open........so realistic I will use this ideal....I never could do the natural hair too good ......so thanks so much..... very good job......
This was awesome. Thank you so much for sharing. I would really love to see a video on how to do twisted ponytails (2 strand twist or rope twists) with curly Afro hair. I’m trying to draw this little girl from my dreams.
The Thomas Gallery I actually refused to become an artist sooner because I hated drawing hair. It can be a challenge sometimes but very rewarding I agree!
hahaha I think I'm similar! I stopped drawing in 2010 and am starting again now but the hair is SO HARD! I keep just doing the outline in all of my drawings and then moving on the next drawing 😂 that's how I ended up on this video! I'm just using pencil right now but hopefully I can still get some tips from this video :)
+Chennae yes you can try this technique out with pencil also. I hear you, but I'm glad you are drawing again! I find the outline the hardest, it's everything after the outline that I enjoy doing
I luv how you gave that serious hair look so beautifully. The problem with me, I don't have eyes for details. Hence I'm unable to give that hair to my sketches.
Thank you so much for this video...I’m working on a piece right now dealing with men’s hair and didn’t know how I was going to do it...this video helped me...I would love to send you a picture of it when I get done.
This is AWESOME just what I was looking for cuz I've just started to draw portraits and was stuck on how to even begin with the hair thank you !! You're such a good artist and keep up with the videos!! p.s. do u reckon this could be done with a charcoal or only the soft pencil?
+ANIMANIAX24/7 you're welcome I'm glad this video will be useful! Yes I believe you could do with charcoal also only the charcoal might be more difficult to erase 👍🏽
Thanks for telling me that. It’s the thing I love most about doing RUclips. I used to watch artists on RUclips and get the itch to draw again! Great to hear, happy creating ✍🏼🙌🏼
Loved this video. I too share my art ..... art is for sharing not keep to ourselves. My 2 and 4 year old grandchildren draw all the time . I have such fun with them as l did with my own children. Until recently l ran an Art school for children. After it closed a lot of my after school children still visit me an we do Art together. Many of the parents say without doing Art they are miserable ..... just like me! :) I have subscribed to your videos because they are so useful. I think as an Artist we must keep on learning from each other. Thank you. X
That sounds great, I love to see my kids drawing, it’s one of those activities that grab your full attention. Art is great for kids! Indeed we should inspire and admire 👌🏽
Thank you so so much thats a major issue of minds ( well was ). I laugh a lot when you say you draw every strand of hair cause thats me then i get tired and messed up but your right i asked many artist online how do you draw afro hair, and they never answer, they just all for them selfs and secretive just happy i come across your video

Aw yeah, you're cold with it. I appreciate you taking the time to teach myself & others your technique(s). Drawing hair is my nemesis. I can't even begin to tell you how many (what I consider) good portraits I've trashed because I didn't like the hair.
