    Am too a self-taught artist.... And drawing hair was a type of difficult job for me.... I can draw all the other elements of the face very easily..bt where i do stuck was the hair portion.... Your tutorial video helped me 5o get rid of that problem. I was using the same technique, bt after watching this video... I am on my way to excellence😊😊😍😍
    Grt work..

    K but HOW DO YOU MAKW IT SO SMOOTH???
    Like is the paper not “teethy”. I draw with the same HB and 3B but the pencil has like holes you can see through to the paper, :(

    • @tyffanijensen4963
      @tyffanijensen4963 4 года назад

      Sarah Parker I’ve struggled with the same thing!! Maybe you figured it out by now but it’s the paper. The way it works is if you were to look at rough paper under a microscope you would see tiny “hills” or waves. That’s the teeth. So when your pencil goes over that it basically misses the valley between the hills. And the same when your shading. Smoother paper has much smalls hills or waves. So the graphite gets everywhere more evenly. I hope that makes sense haha

    • @sarahparker8088
      @sarahparker8088 4 года назад

      Tyffani Jensen ohh yeah okay.. that’s what I thought. It’s just really annoying cause any “high quality” paper I find is really “hilly”. And all of the non hilly stuff is like thin and cheap feeling... I can’t find a balance :( now I’m probably not making sense haha.

    • @tyffanijensen4963
      @tyffanijensen4963 4 года назад

      Sarah Parker I totally get what you mean. I use Bristol board a lot! It’s smooth but thick.

This is just the second time I’ve tried drawing a “realistic person” and on the last one I just stopped before the hair because I have so much trouble with it.
