Thanks Kirsty. I have learnt more from your tutorials than any other art course I have ever done. You have that most rare quality of hard earned talent in addition to being able to share your extensive knowledge and skills in an engaging, enjoyable and most importantly in a inspiring way. The workbook is fantastic and really well thought out. Thanks again 👍
I believe I’m gonna be able to draw hair now. You explain the basics sooo wonderfully that it’s nothing short of inspiring. Thank you Kristy. May Beautiful Things Happen!
This is absolutely incredible. I can’t believe it’s free. The way you teach has helped me so much. I feel like I’m going to art school when I watch your videos. Thank you so much.
I have to draw an idol for my art final, and hair is the scariest thing to draw for me 🥲 but this tutorial is amazing and makes me feel more confident just by watching it 💜
Thank you so much It was very helpful. The hardest part of face for me is the hair. I tried alot of RUclips vedio tutorials but it did not work for me exept for your one. It has helped me and im so happy. Keep up the good work and may luck follow you
I think I just really need to practice patience. I just want my ideas to be out of my head and done before the sun goes down. lol I know I am talented but my eagerness to complete my art is what has been road block. 🙃 Thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks for your helpful tips. I downloaded the workbook and will deal with the topic of hair. Kudos to you. I've been following you for a long time and always think your videos are mega. Greetings from Germany
Wavy hair is indeed really confusing. So this tutorial is helpful. A lot of practice and patience will help me practicing. Being patient will be the big challenge 😅 thanks!
Thank you! This tutorial really helps me. I really have a hard time drawing realistic hair (and starting to get frustrated 😂) but yeah, thanks for this one. ❤
I always think its a good idea to do the hair first in a portrait. If i dont, i usually find i went too light with the skin tone and have to get another layer on there
I don't know if you still need this info, but I thought I'd reply anyways. You can actually make a kneaded eraser by using up a regular eraser on blank paper then you gather up the eraser shavings and rub them together in between your fingers. You may need to increase the stickiness by rubbing the eraser on some tape to make the eraser shavings stick together better. It should end up pretty similar to a kneaded eraser. For a stick eraser I'd recommend using the corners of your regular erasers. You could also try cutting thin strips off of your regular erasers and putting them through something like a trimmed coffee straw, then you could use something like a toothpick to push the eraser out of the straw when you need to extend it. I hope this helps. I know how it is to not be able to get the supplies you want.
Thanks so much i did watch all the dos and don'ts and still did not get it thanks for this vid❤❤ ps i don't know how to draw with charcole i tryed it turns out a mess especially with hair thanks again ❤❤❤😊
Being an artist is hard. It always has been. Drawing is just so soothing and it brings calmness to a lot of us “amateur” artists. Not sure if you’ve checked Silivie out. She is the best realistic artist I’ve ever seen on YT and really just anywhere.
I have a question if that's okay. What if you have a picture of a couple but you can't see the details of their hair at all from the photograph, what do you do? there's just a few shadows and outline of the hair but you can't tell if it's straight or curly or wavy, what can I do?
You can’t spell partridge without “art” - thanks kristy, you’re fabulous.
Not only are your tutorials outstanding, you explain your techniques and what works and doesn't work, better than anyone. Keep them coming...

I always think its a good idea to do the hair first in a portrait. If i dont, i usually find i went too light with the skin tone and have to get another layer on there
What a legend!
Your tutorial really made me understand the real way to draw hair, thank you so much. It is very easy to understand 😊❤❤
Hello, do you have any tips on how to realistically draw cats? I would love to draw portraits of all of my rescues. Thanks 😊
What are the main charcoal pencils and grade used for portraits realistic drawings
do you know any alternatives for a stick eraser and kneadable eraser?
I don't know if you still need this info, but I thought I'd reply anyways. Amazing videos thank you dear for your effort, very useful. It is just that the music is disturbing my brain to focus as I should...
great video i leaved like
What brand of stick eraser do you use?
She said it is a Tombow Mono. If you are in the US, that is what Micheal's carries.
great video
Чудесно 💗💗💗💖. волшебница 💗💗💗💗
Please add Persian subtitles, thanks for your useful tutorials❤❤
Excuse me Kirsty, what number of pencil are you using for the hair
All of them. Lol. From her other videos, it varies but usually 6B or higher for the darker values and an eraser for the highlights.
Being an artist is hard. It always has been. Drawing is just so soothing and it brings calmness to a lot of us “amateur” artists.
Not sure if you’ve checked Silivie out. She is the best realistic artist I’ve ever seen on YT and really just anywhere.
দারুন 😅
Brilliant! Just about to start drawing Melanie Martinez’s hair. 😂Thanks for your work.
🙏🙏 from INDIA
What tool did u use to make highlight?
Are there are any particular practice we can do when we don't have a lot of time mam
2:21
I have a question if that's okay. What if you have a picture of a couple but you can't see the details of their hair at all from the photograph, what do you do? there's just a few shadows and outline of the hair but you can't tell if it's straight or curly or wavy, what can I do?
I got an eraser pen but it doesn’t erase and it smudges my drawing and tears it are they different types of eraser for different textured paper?
3:41 you said you dont shade using back and forth motion but then in 5:22 i see you use back and forth motion
does this work with digital art as well?
