What artists using to draw white parts in a dark drawing? like white coloring for some hair, eyes spots, nose, lips etc? Is that a eraser? Eraser doesn't gives a white color, it gives more like a light grey color. Can anyone help me on this? this part being my struggle this year.

man I draw with graphite pencils, I hadn't created anything in over 10 years but now I'm into it again but I see a lot of videos concerning realism and you guys seem to prefer charcoal pencils, which I never used before but I love the darker shades it allows you to create. Just as an advice, would you suggest me to try charcoal pencils and if yes, is it recommended to use them in combo with graphite or it's preferable to not do that?

For graphite pencils, I use 2B, 4B, 6B and HB
For charcoal pencils, I use Generals 4B and 6B
