Before I found this channel, all my artworks were free hand drawn ,trust me it requires a lot of time and it's like you have to look at the drawing and the reference multiple times just to get that match .....But when I first used grid.....time was saved the atmosphere even changed ,getting that match with ease and it is what I use right now

Sketching teaching is so professional! From basic line control to delicate handling of light and shadow, every step was explained so thoroughly that I gained a new understanding and comprehension of sketching. Through your guidance, I learned how to appreciate artistic works,
Hi Jason since I started watching your tutorials, I’ve became very much better and now I can draw hyper realism using free hand, already I have never used grid before but you teach me all and all thanks to you my boss I wish to be like you but I can’t believe my eyes when I was still drawing in form of cartoon and now, boom into hyper realism ❤
You are the best sketch artist of the world i learning a lot of secrets of artists from you ❤❤❤❤❤❤ well i am your subscriber from Bihar in India ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you kindly for sharing your knowledge. You have helped me learn many new skills as an artist. Do you have advice on how to store charcoal drawings? Do you use a spray on fixative with your work? Blessings 🙂
Hey bro I love your artworks so much I also like to draw and become artist like you you're my inspiration but I am so noob I don't know how to portrait or how to shade can u please help me how to draw any faces and which method do you use ?? Please 🙏 🙏
Thanks for sharing tips and knowledge. I improved so so much by your video. However, I find that go to art school and get some art teachers is better for advanced - art level. We can learn how to use colors, composition, structure, perspective, value..etc that I suggest people taking part in, but if draw as hobby just enjoy:).
I struggle with having the sketch layer. I don't know how to sketch out my references. Could you give me advice on making a video explaining how to get a good sketch? I know basic shapes and everything, but mines still look bad..
If you havent done already the light bulbs and texture of the paper plays and important roll too .am an artist as well i draw from imagination for the most part.i found the lighting is really important, in particular the cri lumen an degree kelvin

bro i am really fasinated by the way you draw your art. its simple and cheap. i learned sketching from the channel art by ali heider but still i have a good command in sketching
I'm having a hard time making the straight lines for the grids. My lines would not be spaced evenly very well and would not be very straight. Are there any ways you suggest to make it easier?
@@JasonLegendaryArt sorry! So charcoal comes in different shades right? Like I have the Jakar compressed charcoal- assorted grey set. I’ve seen in your other video that you have hard, medium and soft charcoal pencils With your powder - do you use different shades to achieve different values. Or do you use 1 shade of powder and achieve different values by layering and blending?
Please Jason, Charcoal powder just doesn’t blend properly as well doesn’t give the darkest shade for my shadows, could it be the charcoal powder or the paper ?
I would recomend using the grid method only after the artist have mastered freehand beacuse the grid method will hamper your versatility and growth as an artist, is like cornering yourself as an artist. only after mastering the freehand method is better to use the grid becuase as a professional artist speed to finish the piece means conservation of energy and faster production with less burnout. The better an artist is when conceptualizing a piece the better the piece will be and the more of the artist will shine through the piece. If the artist is fully mechanical like in the case of the hyperrealist in where the artist is copying from a referencence, then the artist dont exist no more and have become a human photocopy machine but less afficient than a the machine itself, there is no creative endeavor or personal twist, that means that the craftsman (not an artist) is competing with a machine in the same arena because both use pigments. also the grid method helps to take away the energy already lacking in the very static hyperrealisting work. as a matter of fact only use the grid when strictly needed like in the case of art commissions that are 1 to 1 replications of the reference but no more. with the grid method and hyperrealism all of your pieces will like yust like the previous and the next one but worst of all, your art will just like the other artists that do the same, thats how artists tend to disappear.
Hello I hope you read this but can you teach us beginners on HOW TO MAKE GRID FOR LARGE SIZE HYPER REALISTIC DRAWINGS from grid app to paper? Thank you❤
Bro pls what paper can I b using to get hyper realistic drawing? Is it a cardboard? Most people said that there are different paper types and they are some that is for drawing. I'm using A4 papers and it's not giving me what I want 😢😢😢😢😢
Try to order it online. If you can't, look for a similar product. Look in art specialty stores or maybe stores that sell drafting supplies for architects and engineers. Bristol board is a very thick, stiff paper. But not as thick as cardboard. Maybe 1mm thick. Strathmore Bristol Board is sold as a sketchbook with Bristol Board for pages. When he says smooth, he means SMOOTH. It will be smoother than printer paper or writing paper. When you stroke it with your fingers, you will not feel any rough texture. I always get it as like 11*17 inches or 12*18 inches.
