    Personally I think it’s a bit risky to assign any other functions to an “Arm” switch as you’ve assigned a GPS return to home mode here. If you will want to cancel it at any point and accidentally will go too far to the “disarm” range you know what’s going to happen... Pot seems something that will have less chances to be accidentally knocked off. But obviously it’s a personal preference and whatever you feel with comfortable with.

      I always work back from the Motors and props that im planning to use. Have a look in the parts bin to find a set of Motors that are performance. Once you know how much current they need you can decide on your ESCs. Building a fast quadcopter isn't too tricky, just make sure you have a decent set of Motors and props and watch the weight of the model. Best of luck..

    Lee, what I don't understand is, how to connect servo signal wire to "quad" flightcontroller like for example KakuteF4V2 which has no servo inputs. what pins or pads to use then? I am familiair with resource mapping etc but where the actual wire to solder to?
    thanks, always like your movies!

    • @kalliber
      @kalliber 4 года назад

      @@Painless360 I checked it out, so basically we use solderpads or holes of the motor signal wire on the FC. so it's then instead of soldering a motor when to use on a quad, we solder a servo. is that in the good direction?
      you or of great help, thank you again!

    Is it possible to connect a pi via mavlink to a FC running INav for the purpose of utilizing a 4G Stick to stream live Data from a flight? I've seen pixhawk and ardupilot having Mission control centers that allow live tracking. Can inav do that aswell? I really don't want to go back to ardupilot but I really need a live update of where my plane is for long range flights.

    Great video Lee, I missed this one. Another one to touch on is the roll rate and expo. I seem to have problems with my AR wing and the f411 wing, I can't seem to get enough elevator or roll I have no idea why. I can't even do a loop don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought it would be the same as rates on your radio but I don't think it works that way or it does I have no idea? anyway if you ever have time it would be a great video to touch on setting up rates and Expo on inav if you already have I apologize I'll keep looking. :)

    like the receiver i think its a pwm, not ppm or sbus, it just seem i am wasting my time, i have watch other youtubers and ask them how there do the wiring

      I don't tend to use it much even with ardupilot. In reality I find that the access to flight modes is a little bit more intuitive and easier to do in the heat of the moment using regular old switches. It's a handy mod, but not one that I ended up using very much. Hope that helps, happy flying

    Thanks for all your work, really appreciate your videos! I’m new to Inav and am curious if “two flight modes” can be active at the same time? For example if I have horizon, air, and alt hold on one 3 position switch and have RTH on another switch, will RTH override one of the other modes? (Not sure if this makes any sense, but thanks for any help!)

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 лет назад +1

      It would but I'd not get into that bad habit. Have each mode selected exclusively as most modes will automatically enable the ones they need to work anyway - see github.com/iNavFlight/inav/wiki/Navigation-modes Happy flying!

  • @funnelfpv9435
    @funnelfpv9435 5 лет назад

    Hmmm. Don't you need to set Poshold and Althold at the same time to Loiter at a fixed altitude? The iNav modes are a little bit confusing to me in that regard. Could you do a video that explains them and the equivalent modes in Ardupilot? I'm still not sure in what modes I need to set Althold and where Althold is hardcoded in by default.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 лет назад

      All self contained - github.com/iNavFlight/inav/wiki/Navigation-modes

    • @rsilk2969
      @rsilk2969 4 года назад

      For fixed wing, Poshold will not maintain altitude by itself (pitch controls altitude) so for a 3D loiter it is necessary to also configure althold using the same channel and pwm value as the poshold.
      For multi-rotor, poshold will maintain altitude.

    Thanks Lee for your tutorials on rc modeling! CID (Crazy Ideas Department!) Is that you, can also setup your transmitter two or more three position switches, to to turn on inav's different flight modes, using tx mixes! I came from methanol rc helicopters, and we setup onboard glow systems with "bank" FBL tx mixes, so as to not start helicopter in full throttle 3D flight bank (Mode). So with tx mixing, you can effectively have every flight mode on inav available to you! I have Spektrum iX12, so can lable every switch combination position with audio output!
    Now, my question to you is, I like to fly fpv gliding, and would like a better understanding on inav throttle input output works with inav? It seems like I need to tell inav that I fly with zero throttle alot? But need it for RTH function? How do I set this up and test it? Rolf, Matek f722 wing, Phoeinx Evolution 2.6e test bed!

    What is the difference between Air mode, Angle mode and Horizon mode? I have Air mode on by default normally and set Angle and Horizon to a switch but not sure I need both. I like the idea of having position hold on the same switch as Manual and either Angle or Horizon which ever is better to use.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 лет назад

      Airmode is more of a supplementary mode to the other main flight mode that your use . I normally enable Airmode 100 percent of the time as it provides for control the model even when the throttle is off . Particularly handy if you have a fixed wing model and want to glide. Angle mode will allow you to fly around and not allow you to go over a maximum deflection for roll and pitch , Horizon mode will act like Angle mode until the sticks are over a certain point on the radio that which position you can do flips and rolls .see github.com/iNavFlight/inav/wiki/Modes for more details.. best of luck!

I would like to go into Loiter. I have my modes as 2 way left switch for the arm, the 3 way switch is RTH or land now/ angle or level flight / manual or full control of the model and on the right side 2 way switch changes from RTH or land now. and the 3 way switch is my RSSI and I don't know how to change it to a different CH, I have been watching all your videos on INAV and the Xlite radio and I'm just trying to get my wing to go to Loiter in stead of angle.
