  • In this video I show how to install casters on a workbench. With this particular workbench, I had to first solve one issue before I could actually install the wheel casters on the workbench. Watch the video to the end to check out some visitors we had.

To make sure the screws won't come off, use a flat (4 x 4 or maybe) on the bottom of each leg (after you attached the extension blocks) and install the screws diagonally (like pocket screws). This is done because installing the screws along the grain of the wood fibers results in weaker anchoring. Overall, your method works very well. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this video. My wife asked me 4 hours ago about putting casters on her sewing work bench. This is a perfectly explained video.

My work bench has become a tinker/storage bench because of the space taken up by other things. Just built a 5x2 bench and now I'm going to add casters so it can be a true work bench thats mobile. Thanks for the video.

I had to laugh when you pointed out that the surfaces of your workbenches mutated into horizontal storage. I definitely know what you mean, Brother, been there. And I'm sure that others have experienced the same thing... universal entropy.

My axiom for workbenches is: if you build it, it will become storage! 😂 goos job!

Is there any concern drilling into the end grain of the legs? Assembling my first workbench and installing casters is the last step I have

Was wondering the same. How did you install yours?

You could do what he did here but put a 3/4" plywood piece on the bottom so that you are not drilling into end grain.

Those casters WILL pull out, fold sideways or fall off...IF you don't secure thick plywood to the leg first , then attach casters to the plywood....trust me.😂😅
