Can you please help with the wiring for a Pioneer FH-X731BT? The Pioneer harness has a blue and white System Remote wire. The Metra 70-5520 harness has Power Antenna Blue wire. Amp Turn On blue and white wire. Amp Ground black and white wire. Which one on the Metra harness does the Pioneer System Remote wire go to? Ive heard the System Remote wire is for Amp Turn On and also for Power Antenna. The Metra harness has a Orange Illumination wire and a Orange and White Dimmer wire, the Pioneer only has a single Orange and White wire. This is for a 2006 Sonata *without* the factory amp and subwoofer. No other amps are being added, just the radio to the stock door speakers and front door tweeters and has a antenna in the back window glass. I had to buy 2 Metra harnesses and take the Yellow memory wire from one harness and put it into the larger empty slot on the other harness that I will be using because that will match the slot on the cars (Sonata) factory harness where the Power Antenna goes. At least that is what I have read I should do. The Metra harness also has a Brown Phone Mute wire, which the Pioneer does not have. The rest of the wires on the Metra Harness and the Pioneer harness seem to be the same.. 8 wires for the speakers. Red ignition. Yellow Battery. Black Ground.
blu/wht goes to blu/wht amp ground blk/wht goes to black (ground) blu (p.ant) is not used on almost all cars older pre-99 org will lower the radio lights at night (with parking light switch turned on), org/wht is a variable dimmer and is on really old cars
To answer my own question, if someone might need the answer: FH-X731BT to a Metra 70-5520 for a 2006 Sonata (no amp or subwoofer) On the Metra harness.. Tape or cap off the blue AND the blue and white wire I bought 2 Metra harnesses and I took the Yellow memory wire from one Metra harness and put it into the larger empty slot on the other Metra harness that I will be using, because that will match the slot on the cars (Sonata) factory harness where the Power Antenna goes (need to turn on the rear window antenna). If you do not want to buy 2 harnesses, you might be able to use one of the blue wires that are capped/taped off on the Metra harness, but the open slot is larger than the slot with the blue wires. After that all the other wires on the Metra harness and Pioneer harness all match up according to color. The exception is the Orange on the Metra harness goes to the Orange and White on the Pioneer harness. The Metra harness package states the color codes for these wires BUT the Metra harness does not even actually have them on the harness. Brown phone mute black white amp ground orange and white dimmer
So mine is wired right I assume I've had my set up all hooked up for 1 year no issue then outta no where my subs only work when in in accessory mode but as soon as my car is on it doesnt. Could it be the remote wire ?

hi i was wondering what causes when i turn on my car my sub woofer make a loud thump! my ground is good and i connect my amp remote wire to to the 12v wire on my head unit.
Wish they would just call the blue/white amp turn on and blue or in some cases blue/yellow power antenna. Make it easier on us that don't install radios for a living. 😡
I need help bad I have a factory in amplifier, i connected all the colors correct when I plug it in it powers up but no sound I think it might be amp but I have two soild blue
If it's a dodge mid 2000s like say a caravan and has a nbs relay under the hood you just gotta supply ground to that relay from say the acc relay and you will have sound again. Been there and rather than running a lot of wiring like others did I just used a 2' wire and I was good to go.
old video ...but answered my question. I have a blue/white stereo adapter that goes into the factory connector that is a solid blue that activates my antenna but i guess i can split it so it activates my sub amp as well. thanks.
I have a factory amp and i wired a new radio correctly but i have a problem with the amp turn on, sometimes it turns on but other times i have to retart the radio or the car or even unplug the blue/white amp wire from the radio and replug it, i have switched the radio and still same problem, i was thinking i can wire the blue/white wire directly to the red acc wire but that is a last resort
I had/have the same problem with my NX404 and a Lexus RX330 with a TYTO-01 interface. I did in fact connect up the ACC, and it worked for like 3 years, and then all of a sudden that stopped working. My problem only occurs when I crank the car, and the radio goes on and off....So I'm actually thinking it's a timing problem with a voltage drop to the amp, and subsequent turn on....almost like there is a signal mismatch that confuses the amp. I am troubleshooting it today, and am thinking of putting a capacitor in serial with the line, to keep the voltage high while cranking. Will let you know!
Capacitor in-line didn't work. I'm thinking of just getting a turn-on delay module like an NVX XTRI1, which adds a 2 second delay.....I think that might fix the timing issue.
keep in mind, if you connect an amp turn on to a power antenna lead, every time you use any source oter than the am/fm radio the amp will turn off. not good.
@@Lesscoelectronics I'm using only the Blue ant wire on the same 3 pioneer car stereos on 3 cars i have BUT, My Belva 10" sub kit I got from ebay is draining my battery when it sits on one of my cars a 1973 Ford Pinto. when I pull off the big red power wire from the fuse that comes with the kit mounted near the battery my meter drops, so I know it's the amp drawing power while the car is off. I even removed the blue remote turn on to see if that was letting it draw power, with the blue wire off it is still drawing power from the battery, just a little enough to drain after a few days. It's just pulling a very little amount of power to drain my battery over a few days of car sitting.
Why won't my audio from my headset to amp/subwoofer won't work?? I have a audio to head jack plug and it works fine that way. Thank you so much. I did the same thing by mistake and couldn't figure it out. The funny thing is it worked for a couple days and once my wife got in the car then it quit. After that it started thumping or poping every second.
did a install just the other day the radio had no remote turn on wire but had a power antenna wire yet the car had no power antenna or cd player but works with bluetooth so he was happy. turned his amp on when his radio turn on work with AUX flash drive and radio and BT so guess it was just the wire marked as power antenna
hey man are you sure that what you said about that guy calling you about the stereo it wasnt you cause you couldn't even turn off the radio im just wondering !!! 👏👎👀😅
oh, if anyone needs to know HOW to set any car amp up, for exaqmple NOT IN A CAR, and without using a car stereo/cd-player, but, perhaps, with for example a laptop earphone audio output, or ANYTHING, do this: IT IS SO SIMPLE 1. make a BRIIDGE: cut a 3-4cm length of wire. insert 1 end into "supply",(on the amp power inputs) and the other end into "remote". 2. insert "+" wire from battery into "supply" 3. insert "-" wire into "ground" BINGO! it is safe, and SOUND!
I do know, Its because the yellow and red from your radio are both wired to constant power, the red needs to go to an accessory switched circuit to control the units on/off power with the key
Do I put the Blue/White on the Blue? The stereo didn’t come with a Blue/White. So I put the blue/white- Red- Yellow all together. Otherwise the stereo won’t turn on. The only problem is it’s not keeping the memory.
Lessco Electronics I'm having the same problem I wired the blue wire lead from a Metra 40-NI12 plug to the Pioneer AVH-290BT white/blue wire but still having problems with radio reception..other people says connect the blue wire to the ACC (Red) wire to get good reception I don't know it this true or not?
Kind of a stupid design really, put in a CD or a DVD and the power antenna goes down? Why not just keep the damn thing up as long as the unit is on?... or am I overlooking something here? Can't imagine having the antenna constantly going up and down anytime you change modes. My unit has only the blue/white wire, but the manual states it can be used for either a remote amp turn on, or a power antenna... so obviously it stays on until the unit is powered off. This is a freak unit here... Lol
I got confused and I ended up just wrapping the blue/white wire around my neck and squeezing it until I passed out.

Hot to 12+ on amp, ground to negative on amp, rca from preamp inputs on stereo with other in amp and blue wire from stereo 2 where it says system control on amp and I get nothing. Amp has 13 volts gauge tested. Is system control on amp same as a remote turn on? Also stereo has blue connected to blue/white. I just want some bass dang it
Hey so I ordered from crutchfield and had there wire harness service put mine together, the blue is connected to the blue and white and there is a blue and yellow wire not connected to anything, is that my remote turn on wire for my amp or do I have to do something?
I got a head unit with a blue wire stated as ant out, I am trying to connect the right wire to my active subwoofer to trigger it switch off with the remote wire. Can you help me to figure out which one should I fix to my subwoofer remote wire is it the acc 12v+ Red wire or it's the blue wire stated as ant out. I don't have the blue white wire in my head unit
use the red instead
@@Lesscoelectronics thank you 😄
If I hook the remote amp turn to a switched source would that be ok ,,, heard guyz saying amp is turn on before the deck causing pop in the speakers due to feedback when the radio comes on
So my aftermarket stereo has blue white , I connected the blue to the antenna FM, where do I connect the blue/white to?? The red power??
You only use that uf you have an amp
What if I don't have an amplifier in my Jeep. Would I still used the blue.
Na.
Thanks for the video! Question....what exactly is this remote wire doing? Is it sending power? Or is it just sending a signal to tell the amp to turn on? Meaning if auto powers off when no signal is sent over this blue/white wire. Thanks.
Can you please help with the wiring for a Pioneer FH-X731BT?
The Pioneer harness has a blue and white System Remote wire.
The Metra 70-5520 harness has
Power Antenna Blue wire.
Black Ground.
blu/wht goes to blu/wht
amp ground blk/wht goes to black (ground)
blu (p.ant) is not used on almost all cars older pre-99
org will lower the radio lights at night (with parking light switch turned on), org/wht is a variable dimmer and is on really old cars
To answer my own question, if someone might need the answer:
FH-X731BT to a Metra 70-5520 for a 2006 Sonata (no amp or subwoofer)
On the Metra harness..
Tape or cap off the blue AND the blue and white wire
I bought 2 Metra harnesses and I took the Yellow memory wire from one Metra harness and put it into the larger empty slot on the other Metra harness that I will be using, because that will match the slot on the cars (Sonata) factory harness where the Power Antenna goes (need to turn on the rear window antenna).
Brown phone mute
black white amp ground
orange and white dimmer
Thanks
What if I only have blue/white wire and no blue wire? And it seems that the blue/white is connected to a solid blue power antennae wire?
that tells me you have an amp in your car and no power antenna.
What I'm saying is that the remote wire is connected to the antenna wire? Not sure why.
So mine is wired right I assume I've had my set up all hooked up for 1 year no issue then outta no where my subs only work when in in accessory mode but as soon as my car is on it doesnt.
Could it be the remote wire ?
I’m a bit confused on where I connect the blue power antenna wire to make it go up and down when I turn the head unit on and off
oh how i miss volume knobs ;/
What if your car stereo DOES NOT have the blue/white amp remote wire????
Any answer you found? I'm connecting my sub to stock radio and I don't have the blue/white amp wire either... I see an accessory wire but don't know if I should use that. I also see illumination wire and don't know if I could just use that. What did u do?
Thank you so much I was freaking cause I couldn’t get my amp to power one
i need help bad i have a blue and white wire and a solid blue wire both not connected and idk what to connect it too
+Sean Harris the blu/wht goes to your amp (if applicable) and blue is power ant if equipped....
i dont have power antenna and i figured out the setup the amp remote wire is actually the blue wire and i hooked it up to my red wire the accesory power wire so it turns off with my care and every feature on it works like a champ now but i really appreciate the response.
I just installed a stereo in my Nissan Frontier. Would you know why when I went to plug the antenna wire in I accidentally touched the stereo with the end of it and got a spark. And yes it was all off the key wasn't even in the ignition. Everything seems to be fine though and seems to work as it should.
that happened because thats how those nissan's get their stereo ground
@@Lesscoelectronics that's what I ended up finding out. Doesn't seem to fit right either so I ordered an adapter for antenna to the radio
What if I don't have a power antenna or the blue/white cable? I only have the blue cable. Is it ok to use the blue cable in that case?
Dude who worked at Car Toys said he did it all the time (use the blue cable).
I have a dual double din...the unit only works when the car is on acc..but when i crank up the car i lose sound and the screen will say no signal..can ya help me out with my problem
Can you connect the power antenna and amp remote to the amp remote of the headunit? My head unit doesn't have a seperate wire for the power antenna
You sure can, I suggest adding a relay to handle the extra power draw though..
Lessco Electronics alright I might do that. Thanks
My subwoofer randomly stopped working, my amp isn't getting any power. Everything is wired correctly and the ground wire is fine to. I noticed that my wire in the back of my head unit for my antenna the top part was discounted and broken. The question I'm getting at is does the antenna have to be hooked up properly in order for the amplifier to turn on?
mpryderz no sir, one has nothing to do with the other.
I have a aftermarket radio and for some reason for the radio all the speakers work but when I turn on the aux only the front left is able to be heard unless you fade it to another speaker of its on but the ac can still be louder than it but it’s only with the aux cord
You have a defective aux cord.
I hooked my powered sub to blue and white and before that the radio was great but after disconnecting the blue/white from car harness to stereo harness and connecting stereo harness blue white to amp REM the radio sucks now and I’ve tried so many different things to try and fix it. Also the SO B 8ptd sucks.
try adding a relay to bump up the sgnal, if you need a relay wiring guide let me know..
The kenwood aftermarket radio i have, has both blue solid wire and blue/white. I'm not installing an amp. Do I just tape both blue wires up and not use them?
Tape up, or put heatshrink tubing on any wire not used, no harm no foul, they don't have to be connected. Personally I prefer heatshrink tubing... that's what I use.
@@garyr7027 if im not installing an Amp, I dont use the blue wires right?
@@sammysam9560 correct, just leave it unhooked.
that's a sound stream? are those h.u's any good?
i connected 2 solid blues together and am left with a blue/white on one side and a blue/black on the other. do i hook those 2 together? the blue black is "remote turn on (+)"
yes they go together
Ok what if i dont have a blue / white wire ? I only have a blue would there be another wire i should look for ? I just got this android head unit and it has only a blue wire the car i have is a 2010 honda crv exl with nav. I have heard that this is the hardest setup to wire in a new unit i cant seem to find any info on this model car its almost like nobody on earth has setup a android unit on this car ? I almost the same issue the radio is ok but when i connect the phone or try to play music from bluetooth or on the navigation i have no sound ? Any ideas would be a huge help thanks ...
in that case use the red accessory lead

I am installing a deck and sub in my car and had no idea where the amp turn on wire went. I was looking for a wire terminal on the back of the deck but this vid reminded me there's a blue and blue white wires coming from the harness. Thanx a bunch. Now just hafta find out why the deck stopped working but still ejects discs.
Hi My hu dmha5450bt pioneer when hold off key in pannel and off hu by toch but my amp is runing..because remote wire (blue/white) have electric
when switch is off vehicle my external amps is shot down.
remote wire is electric when switch is off vehicle and remote wire is cut electric
my head unit is problem?
can i connect both to it?? harness has both but radio only blue/white and it says "connect to system control termanal of the power amp or auto antenna relay control terminal."
+jonah ooten no, one or the other
So then how to get power to the antenna?.....
+jonah ooten From the trigger wire coming from the power antenna. You have to run it all the way to the head unit if its aftermarket or just plug it in if it has a stock.
Hey man im back with a different problem I have a strange thing happening with my android head unit...when i put my key in the ignition the sound on the android radio is to loud it turns on to like 15 but when i stopped the car i left it at 1 and it scares the shit out of me when i start the car ? Any ideas why its doing this that would be super....i installed it on my 2010 honda crv the factory unit had navigation.. thanks..
hi i was wondering what causes when i turn on my car my sub woofer make a loud thump! my ground is good and i connect my amp remote wire to to the 12v wire on my head unit.
+Sushi Xiong thats a common issue that happens when the amp turns on . A good way to correct that is to get a pulse delay turn on type relay
@@Lesscoelectronics yea quality amps should filter the signal , low cost amps hit an miss
Installed planet audio double din in a 2007 chev Tahoe and plug it in lights come on on sterio than it turns off anyone can help me
ty ty ty I had no book for this exact receiver ..
Glad it was useful!
Wish they would just call the blue/white amp turn on and blue or in some cases blue/yellow power antenna. Make it easier on us that don't install radios for a living. 😡
I need help bad I have a factory in amplifier, i connected all the colors correct when I plug it in it powers up but no sound I think it might be amp but I have two soild blue
the blue is an amp turn on lead, that needs 12v to turn the amp on
If it's a dodge mid 2000s like say a caravan and has a nbs relay under the hood you just gotta supply ground to that relay from say the acc relay and you will have sound again. Been there and rather than running a lot of wiring like others did I just used a 2' wire and I was good to go.
old video ...but answered my question. I have a blue/white stereo adapter that goes into the factory connector that is a solid blue that activates my antenna but i guess i can split it so it activates my sub amp as well. thanks.
I have the same set up as you explained. Did you have any issues doing that? Thanks
I only have the blue wire not blue white please help
Thanks for your help works great
What if you only have a blue wire, could you use that as your amp turn on
keep in mind, if you connect an amp turn on to a power antenna lead, every time you use any source oter than the am/fm radio the amp will turn off.
What stereo is this?
clarion nx505
@@Lesscoelectronics thx
But my problem is, the aftermarket pioneer having blue wire of the remote antenna, just only having the blue white wire.
Check the fuse on in the bk of ur deck

hey man are you sure that what you said about that guy calling you about the stereo it wasnt you cause you couldn't even turn off the radio im just wondering !!! 👏👎👀😅
I have 4 blue wires including my amp for subs, and i hooked them all together, and a fuse keeps burning out you think thats the problem?
Nope the fuse is working as intended.
oh, if anyone needs to know HOW to set any car amp up, for exaqmple NOT IN A CAR, and without using a car stereo/cd-player, but, perhaps, with for example a laptop earphone audio output, or ANYTHING, do this:
IT IS SO SIMPLE
1. make a BRIIDGE: cut a 3-4cm length of wire. insert 1 end into "supply",(on the amp power inputs) and the other end into "remote".
2. insert "+" wire from battery into "supply" 3. insert "-" wire into "ground" BINGO!
it is safe, and SOUND!
what is the brand of that radio?
+Kevin Cole It is a Clarion
Why doesn't my radio turn on when I turn my ignition on I have to turn the radio on manually why you know?
I do know, Its because the yellow and red from your radio are both wired to constant power, the red needs to go to an accessory switched circuit to control the units on/off power with the key
Lessco Electronics thnx
Glad it helped!
Do I put the Blue/White on the Blue? The stereo didn’t come with a Blue/White. So I put the
blue/white- Red- Yellow all together. Otherwise the stereo won’t turn on. The only problem is it’s not keeping the memory.
if memory is your issue, check the yellow is on constant +12v

o this video has sound
yes, for your pleasure!
Lol
All I got from that was a story and to not mix up the two wires. I still dont know what the antenna wire is for lol
Its to activate the power or active antenna in your vehicle. (if applicable)
So if you have only a blue wire what do you do??
