Congrats on this advice! I followed this guide, step by step from a laptop, in order to clean an iMac. And it's installing well, so far, from the internet. The plus of this guide, as opposed to others, out there, which advise setting up a boot USB, is that this method, going in via that two-key start-up, leaves the existing OD untouched while you erase the rest of the hard drive - which enables you to then go to the internet, etc. If you go straight into Utilities, without that two-key start-up, you don't seem to get that untouched OS line in the disk window - which means you only have the option to erase EVERYTHING, and need that additional boot drive. THIS IS BETTER...!

Select the disk choose the partition tab, select volume scheme and then click options.... so basically wiped out my laptop and can’t use it. When i installed the system back i set the time date in utilities and follow your steps and it says yhe the final.part 17 sec remaining for 1 hour still there got stock. Did as was said, erased the HD and then went to reinstall MacOS High Sierra and have tried multiple times and always comes up with. ( the recovery server could not be contacted). I have internet connection. Yup. So just create a temporary account - not a personal one- just a temporary account. That way the next person can test out the computer and if they are smart they will restore it and use their own Apple ID

I've gotten to agreeing to install with the terms etc, but it's been stuck on -22 seconds till install is finished for almost a whole day!!

You need to connect to your WiFi before you reinstall. Or better yet just hook it up using an Ethernet cable directly to your router . Problem solved
