You did the right thing by taking your time on mountain roads. The scenery is beautiful but also distracting- hence you slower speeds since you are simply enjoying the bike and taking it all in. Happy Christmas- see you 2025. 😊
I salute you for your attitude of going at your own pace and not feeling that you have to speed up to look the part. Looks like a lot of those bikes are sports so clearly they know the roads.
Good episode mate, we were there in mid June and got snow, only the Grimsel was open out of the big passes. We came up from lake Como over the Splungon and oberalp , the Splungon we could not see any off it due to heavy rain and fog. We even took the Furka train under the mountain which was a experience. Not sure Harley has anything to do with the Swiss grand tour but I do see the resemblance with the bar and shield. Keep em coming .

Hello! I'm really enjoying your channel, it's been entertaining and very informative. Last year, I followed in your tyre tracks on a run from the UK to Napoli. I didn't have the opportunity then to spend a great deal of time in the Alps, but I'm heading back this June so this recent series has been a good source of information.
I rode over the Fluela pass in the opposite direction earlier this year, after riding the Stelvio Pass, and I have to agree with you that it is the most fantastic biking road. My friend and I both said that while the Stelvio Pass was the most incredible awe inspiring road, the Fluela Pass was actually the better biking road. As you say a most incredible ribbon of tarmac to ride 👍
Good video series, looking to do something similar next year, question - what was the night time temperature when camping. In two minds whether to camp or not, or If I should try and book sites in advance. I don't think I could do what you have done. However, keep up the good work, its great watching the touring videos 👍
Thanks! I’m not sure what the night temperature was but I don’t remember it getting particularly cold - probably around 8 degrees. I’ve certainly been colder camping in Scotland at a similar time of year!
Steve, I feel I’m struggling to support you on these long days , you give me anxiety watching these trips, let me explain myself. I feel, rather than doing a long trip like this you could benefit from investing in an advanced riding course. You tend to take the racing line so often and it places you and oncoming traffic in dangerous positions, you get far too close to the middle of the road on left hand corners and you would have a much better view of the road if you were further over to the right hand side of your lane. You are also getting very tired during these long days and because you’re getting tired, you make small mistakes, such as booking your day’s camping for the wrong day (hats off to you for showing it) but you’re pushing yourself too hard, not resting, not eating properly, your brain needs a rest too. I just feel you’re going to have an accident on one of these days. We’ve already seen you have your bike stolen because you’ve not been thinking straight at the end of the day. Obviously, none of us want this to happen, at the end of the day it’s your life to ride, I would just like you to give it some thought and stay safe on the road. All the best for 2025. Happy New Year.
This was in may/June this year. He still lives. But I see your point. I also make long travels but not 4K km in 7 days. I need my rest but also time to enjoy instead of pushing continuously to get my miles.
@ I’m aware it was earlier this year and he’s not had an accident (I hope he doesn’t), but as I said, he’s obviously tired at the end of the day and not giving his brain time to rest, which is leading to not thinking properly, which may have lead to his bike getting stolen in France - you actually heard him saying that he wished he had locked it when he arrived - was that from being tired after a long day’s riding?
I really don’t know what to make of you. It’s a battle of endurance and you just don’t know when to stop. Don’t you have any medication for your hay fever? You’ve had a poor looking tuna sandwich and now you’re going to refuel after a very long day (far too long) with a pizza. There’s no helping people like you is there. What’s the point of the trip for YOU?

I'm working on a tour to Iceland for 2025, but if that doesn't work out. I'll definitely go for this Swiss Grand Tour. It looks absolute amazing.
