  • DIY, social distancing project in the garden for a reflection pool / feeding station for bird photography, #stayathome about 3:30mins and only slightly irritating music :)
    Easy to build, temporary pool that you can position anywhere.

    If you can't find a pool, just build one. Genius!

    Very inspirational.
    BTW, you can also use a plastic shoe tray (keeps water from shoes from the floor). It is not as wide. Available at IKEA and probably other shops as well.

    I had a set up very much like this last year but had to take it apart. It was being over run with rats and they were taking more food then the birds :( I set up pole feeder at the start of this year and that is now also being over run with rats :( How do you sort out that problem :(

    • @Phazephoto
      @Phazephoto  4 года назад +1

      Hi Peter - we dont have many rats up here at all - being semi rural - we have the odd field mouse . Essentially I make sure only to put a little feed out in the feeder - not over filling - so its empty by end of day. the reflection pool I move around so never in same place for more than a day or 2 - maybe stop feeding for a week or 2 - so the rats move on to better pickings and not come back for a while. :D

      Peter I have a similar problem with my hide that I'd set up in my farm in India. The bird feed attracted too many squirrels and then came the rats. The simple solution I came up with (which has worked so far) is to place the same food, but larger quantities away from the hide and much closer to the route the squirrels and rats take. Its also hidden under fairly thick vegetation which the birds don't like, so the birds come to the reflection pool and the rodents stay at the fringes, happy to gorge themselves. :)

      @@ZhayynnJamesPhotography That sounds like a great idea and it's good to know it worked for you. I share a garden with two other households so I just cannot be seen to be feeding and making them welcome in any way :(
