Heyya! Just so you know, the drone Muscle Up uses is an FPV custom-built drone NOT a DJI product. For more info on that drone, there's a link in the description (: Keep making some great stuff! Byeeeeee
Zach Ramelan Yes! that’s what I thought, because there’s no way a DJI product could fly like that. Especially when he punches out and the drone’s view was stabilizing at an slight angle to the side, that will only be smooth and doable in acro mode, which is a full manual flight mode that most consumer drones simply don’t have. It requires a lot of skill and knowledge about electronics and flying to do anything close to what he was doing, and his set up still have prop guards for safety. The closest thing I would describe his set up as will be a beefed up brushless “whoop” set up. I am glad you do know what you are talking about after all, however I wish our an make it more explicit in the video. I am afraid the there might be someone who saw your video and try to fly through someone’s face with a mavic air. Not only is it quite dangerous, but it will be quite frustrating for someone new to the hobby.
Hey random question. So do you use that sigma 18-35 with the a7iii? That sounds perfect, but it's a crop sensor lens so wouldn't it not work on a full frame camera?
No one seems to be mentioning a KEY ingredient in this, the subtle sfx. I think Zach was spot on with them - just enough, but not too much. My videos are heavy in sound design so I can appreciate! Nice stuff Zach.
FPV has been around much longer than johnny lol.. he wasn't the first person to put a gopro in a quad - but he's definitely one of the best@Joen Delfiero
You mentioned using he Mavic Air because it's smaller size, but what about the Mavic 2 pro. Although it's larger it does have the Omnidirectional obstacle sensing. Based on this added functionality, would you still recommend using the Mavic Air for your fly throughs?
Awesome Capture!! You nailed that shot and I know it wasn't easy. I fly the Mavic Air & Spark and I know just how tight some of those shots were. The only thing I wanted to clarify was the TILT at the end/beginning of the shot...I guess you just rotated the footage in post? Any tips there. Again, great location and overall great capture with the Mavic Air!
If you want to see this 'basic' style brought to a few levels up, check out johnny fpv 'the sky is not the limit' Airblastr 'freeride' and 'anselmo' Mondo 'fabulous fox theater' But these are done with fpv mini drones so you have to be an excellent pilot...
Hey ! thanks for the video ;) how did you make the image tilt like that? it's actually a cool way of making it look like it's an fpv drone or an airplane but you never mentioned it :)
Hey, does anyone know or have a name for the style of shooting from 1:04-1:10, when the phone is pulled out and dropped in a sweeping motion? Like a camera follow effect? Thanks everyone! Great video!
Hey Zach, thanks for the great tutorial! really love the output of this. Quick question, did you actually tilt the drone in the beginning of the footage? Or it's done in the post process stage?
so I don't own a drone yet but I was looking into the mavic air and pro 2... since you've had the air for about a year now, do you think I should save some more and wait for the pro 2 or just get the air.
How did you get the tilt effect at three beginning of the drone video? I’m guessing you just zoomed in through post and added a tilt? But I just wanted to make sure.
Okay, it’s official, I’m a big fan! Great stuff! Looking out for all your future content. Putting Cambridge on the map:) Ps awesome short film you posted today(or yesterday). Pps love the shirt!
Hey Man! I just got a mavic air and have noticed a lack of detail and a decent amount of grain in my footage. I am setup to fly at iso 100 so that shouldn't be an issue. I do get the slow SD card warning and am curious if that might be it. Any advice?
But at the begining of the drone shot, there is some kind of curve as if the drone is not quite right. Is that an effect ? As if it was turning on itself
Well, my friend and professional associate colleague. That was one of the best articulated explanations. Of your shooting style and techniques. I was wondering about that. He's flying this backwards. How does he know where he's going? Were these just a set of preprogrammed waypoints? I wondered? After running it in forward, first? But your explanation, provided those answers. And I figured that was you under that cabana. When the drone flew by that person's face. Was that person reading a book? Yes a drone book remote control. And was watching television.. You are making. That was fabulous! And so this is the original MAVIC Air-1.. And I was just thinking about a MAVIC Mini. For my first ever cinematic drone. But then they recently came out with that Air-2. And oh my. It's twice the cost. And I'm going to have to save much longer for that one. But then it was the same with my 35mm Nikon FTN and Nikon F-2. Some nearly 40 years ago. Yeah with extra NICOR lenses. And which is all basically worthless today. I should have sold that years ago. It's such a shame. My beautiful 35mm film cameras. Now just museum pieces. And my big old 3 chip Canon lens based studio cameras are too large to fly. Only 525 lines of resolution but approximately 900 in anamorphic mode. And everybody wondered how I was getting high Rez out of a standard Rez camcorder. DUH It helps to read everything about what you want to purchase. To make an intelligent decision. So basically I see the DJI line of drones. As the only true, proconsumer oriented, cinematic drones. They can deliver! And everyone says. You basically can't lose with a DJI drone. You'll get the shots you want. More easily. Because they are designed with cinematic professionals, in mind. This Chinese company knows what they are doing! The rest really don't. The rest are toys. They look awful. In the hands of awful beginners. I really hate the way these amateurs demonstrate their drones they really don't know how to fly worth a shit. They don't know how to fly anything. They treat it like a ground-level toy battery-operated robotic car. What the FUCK? They have as much photography finesse. As some drunk vomiting on your shoes. Because their videos are basically vomitus. And this is their demonstration ha ha ha. But it's nothing to laugh at. It's amateur hour by a clueless moron little fat beer belly obese gray-haired guys. Who are about as articulate as Bozo the clown. They sure know how to show an un-boxing. I would like to present them with an actual boxer. Not a dog either. Somebody who would smash them in the face for such an awful demonstration of a clueless reckless drone operator. And they always want to be in the shot... Why? They are not good to look at. They are short and fat stupid and gray. Just what I want to see. Hell no! Now Sam, you might think there are better Johnny on the spot FPV pilots. But you have a true Hollywood cinematic eye. And you know how to generate an appropriate matching separate soundtrack. Without the sound of the god damn fucking drone! Bravo Sir! You have my utmost professional respect. As a professional. In the business for over 50 years. You are a true professional. You got what it takes. To take your career much further. I mean folks like car dealers would be an idiot not to hire your services. Shopping centers and the like. Realtors, shooting the interior and exterior shots. Of homes. You are accomplished at this. You are a true professional. I am very impressed by your work. And nobody has really impressed me like you have. And with your beautiful articulate professional explanations of your shooting techniques. Nobody is that articulate! Yeah baby! You definitely got my attention. So I think I shall pass on the MAVIC Mini. And go right to the MAVIC Air-2. And I need to get plenty of, polarizing ND filters and that anamorphic lens adapter. And the Fly More, combo. So I'm looking at $1000 of an investment. Instead of half that much. For the entry-level toy MAVIC Mini they make. And that's no toy. And I might still consider that one? Just to get started with. I mean it seems to me. You are basically running your Air. Without the anticollision sensors on? And that's because you first practiced going slow. The same way a fine accomplished musician learns and intricate complicated piece of music. You start playing it slow. And then you keep speeding it up until you come up to tempo. But that doesn't really need to be done that way with a drone. When you can control the speed in postproduction. And so would this mean. One should perhaps always shoot at 120 FPS? Playback at 120 FPS and then converted to 24P at 30 FPS? I mean that Burns a memory chip a lot quicker. And then when something fast happens. You have the actual proper looking slow-motion capture. And then back to 30 frames per second. 29.97 or whatever. And always shooting at 120 FPS? Then even playing it back at a faster speed. Should provide for more cinematic fluidity should it not? I guess I'm going to have to find out for myself? I love the slow-motion at 120 FPS. It's just so fabulous to be able to manipulate time that way. Thanks for this fabulous instructive explanatory technical video! I would hire you tomorrow if I could. I would want you on my team of production professionals. I only surround myself with the best. Even those who are better than me. That makes me look even better. And then you get even better. Working with the best people. Amateurs don't realize that. At a network television facility. You are working with the best professionals and learning from them. Beyond that which you already know. And it only keeps taking you to the next levels up. With or without a drone. But more fun with one. The ideal unlimited camera Jib/Crane. Look Ma, no wires! No tripod. No boom arm. No, 150 pounds of barbell weights at the back. You have to schlep, around. FUCK that! I only need something I can stick in my pocket now? I only need something I can stick in my pocket now, obviously. What am I going to do with the tens of thousands of dollars of studio level equipment? I'm not inside the nightclubs anymore. There aren't any nightclubs anymore. And what better can you get in the social distancing? When you can be with all of your friends from 1 km away? Or a mile? Don't let them touch your drone. They might get germs all over it. Yuck. So steer clear and fly free! Free as a god damn dodo bird. We have never seen fly. That I could imagine. They likely bumped into trees? And that's why they are now extinct drones. They all crashed! They were as stupid as human beings. And beginner drone operators. And so hotdogs were popularized in America? What happened to the Tasmanian Tigers? Were they that delicious? That we now have no more Tasmanian Tiger hotdogs? What the FUCK is going on here? I better get a drone soon. Before we all go extinct.. And then extraterrestrials will believe that we were all able to fly. And they will look at our petrified remains. And wonder where our wings were? They must've been connected on these long appendages on either side of their torso? And can you imagine the pictures their artists will come up with of what they think we looked like millions of years earlier? But they shall never find any feathers. Except maybe in a leather thing that was placed on top of one of their craniums? How could they fly that way? Did their heads spin quickly? Can you imagine? What the next advanced extraterrestrial civilization will think about us? And then they will find a MAVIC. And wonder what it did? And what it must have eaten? It eats these little square cubes. You stick into its ass. How does that work? What were these creatures really like? It looks like it has 2 eyes. But they have found no remains of those eyes. Inside those things. And wonder how they perceived the things in front of them? Because all they found, were the eyesockets. Hmmm What strange creatures. And they had hard plastic exoskeletons. Gray in color. And then there were these larger bipedal critters that had bones. Then they found Bones on some old TV programming about taking a Star Trek. But they could find no starships buried. And wondered where we went? Like the pre-dynastic Egyptians. Where the hell did they go? They had power tools for sure. They had advanced technology for sure. We have not found any of their drones left behind. In a sarcophagus. So what the FUCK? We still don't know how that was all built. Some 12,000+ years ago. Yet now we have drones.. We still don't how to build Egypt. They had electric lights and Baghdad batteries. There is no, soot. From burning torches. Inside those pyramids. Where it is otherwise, jet black. And I think they realized there was only so much oxygen inside? Because if you had a torch burning for quite some time. You might run out of oxygen? So they had to have electric light. They were way ahead of Edison. And Tesla. They figured it all out thousands of years ago. What they needed to have. To do the work they had envisioned. And you're kind of that way with your drone. You know how to get the shots the takes everybody's breath away. And is loaded with oxygen. I mean your videos get you breathing deeply. You take a big gulp of air in. With, oooo's and ahhhh's. Coming out. Even though I have been out for over 35 years, now. It's a different kind of, out like outing. Where we just had a, gay old time of it. If you follow? Or, lead. And whether you grab pussy's or not. I loved my kitties. They don't like drones as much as dogs do. Just so everybody knows. I have an everybody, nose. RemyRAD
Ok. RUclips recommendation showed me this video. I have no idea who you are, but I subscribed to this channel because os this title, the thumbnail, and the first minute where you show your personality, you showed some cool music and clever editing. IN ONE F*CKING MINUTE!!!! Holy crap! First time I do this with a channel I know nothing about. You have some skillz with the camera sir. Respect!
Great video and I really appreciate you emphasizing the security of flying a drone around people and other obstacles. So many people are really careless with this and we see our rights to fly drones getting more and more restricted because of them.. so thanks..
Wow that Muscle up film is crazy, same with the behind the scenes footage. Can't elieve I never seen it before. The mavic air is still the best drone around, I've had mine for a year already and have no plans on upgrading until a a mavic air 2 comes out
Its called the Vertigo Effect or Dolly Zoom. It's not necessarily done in post. You can achieve such an effect by zooming in with a lens while moving backwards with the camera in corresponding relation. Newer DJI drones even have a Smart Flight mode for that
Hey Bud, thanks for sharing! Confused why the haters on this thread. You kick someones puppy that I didn't hear about? Always interested in what cool things people are trying with drones to open my mind to what different techniques look like. I thought the vid was well done (a lot of work too) and fun to watch... Good Flying!
one tip I would add is if you're gonna fly slower and you know you're gonna speed it up in post, shoot at a lower shutter speed to get more motion blur, so when you speed it up, the motion blur will look more accurate
If you used the mavic air then how did you get this shot oblique/diagonal in the biginning? At 0:01 for example. As far as I know that’s not even possible with the mavic air
Hello Zach, great video. What setting of frame did you use for this video? I was wondering just to know how you manage to speed up the video. thank you
Man!! You did an awesome job with this video! It definitely melted my brain lol. But for real, I just want to applaud you man!! Your work is absolutely amazing! Keep up the great work 👍🙏
Question you probably get all the time, but what software or program do you use to edit your videos. I use Lightroom for my photos, but really have no idea for drone footage. Thank you!!
Zach thanks for sharing the technique, I am Mavic Air and wud love to try this shot. One thing that u can add to ur video, I dono if u have used it or not while shooting, but using propeller guards will be much helpful here ;-)
thank you!!! That's all I was really hoping he would answer the whole video.. looks like he just cropped in and rotated the frame a tiny bit.. then key framed back to a level field of view.... But if he did something else I would love to learn how!!!!
Pretty late to the party here, but at then end of your drone footage your drone looks like it banks right in order to get a sort of tilted shot. Would be cool to see how that happened!
Heyya! Just so you know, the drone Muscle Up uses is an FPV custom-built drone NOT a DJI product. For more info on that drone, there's a link in the description (: Keep making some great stuff! Byeeeeee

Save yourself 11 minutes, just fly your drone through the gap you want in the frame and speed it up in post
Ryan Watts I agree. This was a horrible clickbait tutorial.
Roses are red

I should've read the comments first.. haha
Thank you
Or just fly regular and reverse it in post 😣
This was a huge help. Such awesome footage. I'm getting closer and closer to shots like this. Thanks for sharing man.
So much good information. I will try some of these tips for my next travel vlogs
Johnny fpv taught Sam kolder all he knows if anything put Johnny fpv in your title. His stuff is 10x more insane

It’s called FPV and it’s not Sam Kolder Drone Effect lol

Do you think this would be possible with a DJI Spark?
100%
You mentioned using he Mavic Air because it's smaller size, but what about the Mavic 2 pro. Although it's larger it does have the Omnidirectional obstacle sensing. Based on this added functionality, would you still recommend using the Mavic Air for your fly throughs?

Oh, also agree that flying backwards looks better and more stable. I use that technique often...
The tilting effect that starts the video... is this done in post or is this done through the drone. Thanks for the tips!
I assume you did the angled lead in (actual end) in post or was that FPP setting? This is one reason I too bought Mavic Air.
I'm also wondering about it...
I applaud your courage! I have no idea you really do this. It's like base jumping. You have to be dead precise on and it cannot possibly be VLOS.
you don't really do this with a mavic air. You do this with a CineWhoop. You just can't get a lot of these shots with a mavic
Absolutely agree with "to much risk / dangerous is not cool" 🤘
Ultimate short 👍👍

Hey Zach where do you get all those sound effects for your footage?
What mm do you mainly use during your room shots? Is it 8/10 or above? ^^(During the time you talk to the camera)
So many people are really careless with this and we see our rights to fly drones getting more and more restricted because of them.. so thanks..
Awesome video! I think the best is the sound too where do you get the sound effects ?
That really cool and helpful .
Great work .
I would like to ask you , do we need to have permission and flight license to flight any drone ?
Thank you
Great tutorial, thanks. Which app do you use to reverse a movie? Thx
Che spettacolo!👏🤙🤩🔝
Wow that Muscle up film is crazy, same with the behind the scenes footage. Can't elieve I never seen it before. The mavic air is still the best drone around, I've had mine for a year already and have no plans on upgrading until a a mavic air 2 comes out
Awesome! I'm definitely going to try this one out😃
So you fly forward and then just reverse the footage in post!?
this was so sick! thank you!
Great tutorial brother! 🙌
Very cool Zach! Thanks for the tutorial.
Loved the video. Have to try this out.
Great tutorial man, thanks!
You deserve more subscribers, period.
Att 3:37 you got a nice zoom effect, how did you do that in FCPX?
Great tip, Zach! I have the spark, I'll have to give it a try.
The edit, story telling, explaining skills, 🔥🔥😍... U have a long way to go 🤩 🤩
raja manohar really dude
Man... i wait so long for this ;) you are great ! Big fan here !
kinda wanna know if you added some motion blur effect on it
Cool video ,how do u turn the image at the beginning of the footage? Thks
I'm not quite sure how he does it, but I'm guessing he uses the positioning tool in Premiere Pro and rotates the video for part of it.
Nice Video! Do you add motion blur?
I've done this with a Dji Phantom and it works just fine!
Drone camera settings? Frame rates? Was it in sport mode?
What’s the gimbal mode? Follow or FPV ?
Nice work👌👌👌
Great work
Would propellor guards not help a lot with the human safety factor?
If you used the mavic air then how did you get this shot oblique/diagonal in the biginning? At 0:01 for example. As far as I know that’s not even possible with the mavic air
I believe they call it skilled piloting. Also diagonal framing can be done through editing.
Hmmm now I want a mavic air just the sheer size of the thing is incredible 😎
Check out the the DJI Spark. Even smaller.
Amazing
Can't we record normal and just use a software to make it look like if we going in reverse?
hey zach, were you using nd filters or any motion blur in post?
Hello Zach, great video. What setting of frame did you use for this video? I was wondering just to know how you manage to speed up the video.
thank you
Man!! You did an awesome job with this video! It definitely melted my brain lol. But for real, I just want to applaud you man!! Your work is absolutely amazing! Keep up the great work 👍🙏
Hi Lee, I DC I'd my first fly through vid today...see if you liked it, m.ruclips.net/video/g5qGFlDUfuo/видео.html&feature=share
What program is the best to edit videos from the drone?
Question you probably get all the time, but what software or program do you use to edit your videos. I use Lightroom for my photos, but really have no idea for drone footage. Thank you!!
Final cut pro or premier are the favourites between mose editors
Epic work my man. Came out really well!
great video Zach. What type of drone can pass through that ring at 1:50 ?
found it: petapixel.com/2017/05/26/can-capture-worlds-smallest-gopro-drone/
Very Nice tip! Hugs from Brazil!
Really dope video
Heyya bro...cool tips u gave...thanks buddy..from Malaysia 😉
Zach thanks for sharing the technique, I am Mavic Air and wud love to try this shot. One thing that u can add to ur video, I dono if u have used it or not while shooting, but using propeller guards will be much helpful here ;-)
That fly through shot through the camp is not using FPV drone. Its using mavic air. Sam Kolder posted behind the scene of that shot long time ago
Did you use tripod mode then add speed reverse?
Great tips! I will try that out with my Mavic 2 pro soon :P wish me luck haha
Keep going mate!
Please, just straight to the point. don't think about ads.
Good stuff. Like the approach.
Hey very cool. What hotel is this?
Only issue with running it in revers in post...the tide is rolling out in reverse. Easy to spot.
GOOD SHIT. I HAVE ENJOYED YOUR VID.
DBM. ENGLAND.
How do you get the effect of a slanted video image, the same as you have at the beginning of your drone shot
thank you!!! That's all I was really hoping he would answer the whole video.. looks like he just cropped in and rotated the frame a tiny bit.. then key framed back to a level field of view.... But if he did something else I would love to learn how!!!!
@@larryl Same here, literally the only thing i was hoping to see.
You absolutely have this YT thing down!
Pretty late to the party here, but at then end of your drone footage your drone looks like it banks right in order to get a sort of tilted shot. Would be cool to see how that happened!
