Price is irrelevant at this point. Absolutely worth $25 bucks, and considering Evercade is geared for collectors... Duh! Haven't played Tomb Raider since Sega Saturn so I am really looking forward to this cart! 😄👍🎮
Believe it or not this collection is the reason I bought (preordered) my very first Evercade, the VS-R bundle. Yes, I’m late to the Evercade party but I’ve arrived
Thanks for this preview! You always go over the fine details which I appreciate. Oh, and I agree that the first Tomb Raider was the best one, but this is still a great bundle pack.
Really looking forward to playing this one, especially on my shiny new VS-R when it arrives at the end of the month (hopefully). I played these on PC DOS back in the day with keyboard controls and choppy frame rates (read: slide show, lol) and still loved them. Great video as always :-)
It's Monday the 9th of September and after the Amazon VS-R pre-order fiasco, I've managed to pick up the Tomb Raider Collection from my local Argos. With my VS-R pre-order cancelled and having a copy of Tomb Raider, there's absolutely no reason to pick up a VS-R now. The whole ordeal has left a bad taste in my mouth and Blaze need to learn to take responsibility for their mistakes instead of blaming everyone else. #MustDoBetter
@@jayme69 Glad you got that sorted. You're right there's no reason to get a VSR unless you are new. I'm still contemplating cancelling my order. Still no date yet for me.
Worth pointing out that if you buy the 2 game bundle it's only £20.24 per title which doesn't seem too much of a stretch from the £17.99 price tag for such a big licence. Absolutely great value considering it would have been very easy for Blaze for putting just TR1 & 2 on this cart, as Last Revelation was released also so you might think that releasing 2 collections over time could have been more lucrative for Blaze, so they should be commended for putting 3 on 1 cart, to showcase the size potential of the new Gigacart. Frame rate looks fast and smooth. I have the originals on Playstation still and love them today. But I'll be getting this. Still unsure if i will do the handheld bundle or just the games but either way, it's a fine addition. As is the Thalamus collection.
@CrazyBurger I was surprised not to see any other comments about it. 😳🤣🤣 I can still remember the first time I played TR. I got the PS for Christmas that year and bought the official magazine and it had the demo on there. I was blown away by the game, had never experienced anything like it.
Super awesome to get such a big name IP on the Evercade. I'm glad the momentum from getting Duke Nukem seems to be continuing. Now then... I can hope for a DOOM Collection that has like DOOM 1, 2 and 64 on it 😄
Great review, glad they've given it a bit of extra attention with the manual. I only played the first one, and even then not that much, so looking forward to getting this when it's out. Along with the Atari Super Pocket launch, Tomb Raider will bring lot more people into the world of Evercade this year.
Very cool you got early access!!! It looks to be 60hz and a game like this it helps if it runs a little faster than it's PAL offering we once got in Europe. I would image the speed difference between machines is down to resolution, EXP probably the closest to the real thing while VS might feal a tad heavier due to the process time it takes to display more pixels. Super Pocket might need an update lol. It looks very cool tho, not only do we get a reason to play them again but we also get hdmi and handheld support, and it's the originals!!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and please go easy on the video's, we haven't recovered from the last one yet, lol Cheers Crazy!! 😀👍
I have all 3 on the ps1, but having a way to play this portable and save states makes this worth it. I'm pumped. Hopefully there are more BIG games like this coming. Not just more Amiga and C64 games that I'm not interested in.
just buy a cheap 50 dollar emulator handheld with better perfomance than evercade and better screen/controls and put in a sd card all the ps1 games that ever released..... :) and all amiga and all dreamcast and whatever you can imagine! in ONE sd card. with you portable
Looking forward to getting into these when the EXP-R finally releases. I somehow managed to miss these games when they came out (probably because I didn't have a PS1) so I'm looking forward to checking them out. They still seem like they hold up reasonably well.
It'll be interesting to see how the EXP-R performs alongside the SuperPocket or whether the load times stay relatively the same to the original EXP and the VS. I'm pretty sure the stripped back OS on the SuperPocket has a lot to do with how quickly games load.
probably gonna pick this up off amazon with the evercade too, interesting to see them use A B X Y instead of PSX buttons which makes me think they are using DOS/windows ports instead , but maybe they just got the original source code like aspyr did when they remastered them, some scanline filters would have been nice too and i love the USA logos instead of the PAL ones the USA ones always ran a little better in my opinion.
Wow you got it early 😮. I'm waiting for the bundles of the evercade exp-r and vs-r. I have both ordered. I should be getting them by the end of the month. I think it's August 30 for them.
As long as it doesn't have ads like some weird US PS1 TR did. 🤯 I remeber it being a regular game anyway. Could have been some sort of promotion deal though I suppose.
in my other comment i stated i am getting this, but i am also not passing up the physical switch port either since that's gonna have the remastered gfx
I tried to play in the past but had literally no idea what I was doing. I will buy now to see it that's still the same. No doubt I will be better with saves and with the Internet for advice.
When the first TR game came out, I was addicted to it like crazy. Then I found two funny mods (for PC of course). Nude Raider was a given but the second, I think it was called Rude Raider (but I could be wrong), where she runs around saying the funniest F-bombs and all kinds of vile crap. The audio quality wasn't perfect but it sounded like girl (could be American) faking an English accent and it was so damn funny. I wonder if I can find that mod online still.
Thanks for posting! I see evercades with games already installed at my local big lots. Doesnt take carteidges though. Im wondering if its from the same brand. Ive been interested in getting one and trying it out. I love classic games. And owning them on ps1 and my switch currently (remastered) id like another way to play :) How much do the consoles run??
I think the loading time thing is additional piracy checks but its odd that the Super Pocket doesn't do them. Very odd that they use two different methods. I really hope they will sort the loading times for Donut Dodo on EXP at least since I can't get my Super Pocket to update. I can deal with one big load for PS games but the Donut Dodo thing takes you out of it a bit.
I really doubt there are much if any sort of piracy concerns or checks for such on these things. Could simply be the chip in pocket have faster memory card bus or controller. Or some cores used for decompression running higher clock to compensate for different layout.
I was playing Tomb Raider 1 on a cheap AliExpress handheld and got so pissed when the tutorial dialogue (Laras home jungle gym) just dropped out! I guess it happened on the original cart as well.
No, Crazy was rushing though the level so it skips or cuts dialog automatically, depending on where you are on the level. Try your device again and stand still as soon as she talks. 😉
@@CrazyBurger Because they didnt make these old games. The disrespect to just try and shoehorn their reboot timeline into the very first game, they are actively trying to erase classic lara and the old games.
