  • In part two of the Jeremy Mayfield interview on The Dale Jr. Download, Dale and co-host Mike Davis dig into Mayfield's biggest break with Dodge and Ray Evernham's No. 19 team. Mayfield won races and raced his way into NASCAR's playoffs in the high-profile ride. But it wasn't without drama either. Internal struggles with Ray Evernham went public. Then, Mayfield made a final mistake. Dale Jr. gets to the bottom of what led to Mayfield's departure, and eventually led to the downfall of his racing career.

Mayfield was one of the drivers who was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and was probably receiving ritalin or some other form of amphetamine based drug as part of his treatment. I got diagnosed as an adult and I can tell you from experience that if you miss your dose, the day is just such a fog. LIke you give half-hearted answers since you only half-heard the question, and social situations feel like someone is plugging your ears while your brain just throws out garbage thoughts constantly. So yeah, I believe he probably did struggle in social situations and probably tried to "tough it out" either with limited medication or just taking it when he felt he needed it.....which may or may not be why he got bopped for "meth". It could've just been a high dose of ritalin or adderall. Maybe he had an illegal script for it? If you have enough adderall or ritalin without a prescription, I believe in some states they do treat that as intent to sell and you can indeed get your ass busted by feds.
Mayfield was never my favorite driver, but I give him props for ocming on here and airing out the laundry.
And I don't care who you are, Mary had an unabashedly stone cold response to Ray's cheating with that picture - a big picture of her, presented as a gift, in front of his team, by a driver he's not too happy with. Stone. Fucking. Cold.

I now believe Jeremy 100% did not use methamphetamines' and here's why:
1: Jeremy declared on his yearly medical he was taking prescribed Adderall.
2: Jeremy has video evidence of him buying Claritin D
3: Adderall is an amphetamine and will cause a positive test.
This was done before any kind of test so this isn't a story he came up with later.
4: Jeremy took dozens of tests from one of the most trusted drug testing labs in the world and came back negative. He did this dozens of times during this entire saga.
5: He and his attorney's specifically asked for the threshold to be set to zero, and he was still negative.
These revelations really side the whole thing with Jeremy.
As for the raid, he gives a self serving statement no doubt. He'd also been unemployed and was trying to make a living and probably hanging our some dirtballs. But when the discovery comes back and it's Nascar providing information and then it's used in the upcoming appeal - that's a lot of evidence this is a set-up. And now consider all those charges ended up going away.
Give Jeremy a poly and a drug test. Jeremy was a mid pack guy with probably one of the most clutch wins of all time and he's been gone for 13 years yet millions of people are tuning in. That's 100x more than even go to races anymore.

One other thing meth doesn’t stay in your system like Weed does. Meth is kinda like cocaine. I have taken drug tests like that while having a prescription for adderall. I worked at a hospital and took my drug test there at the hospital. I came back clean for everything. And I had taken adderall earlier that week. So the meth part I don’t believe.
