He's a cool guy, met him when I was a kid, good conversation. I personally would have pulled in and told him thanks, he made me appreciate people more.
Down here in level cross we don't think about him has famous we think him as just a regular person I live on a road next to him and I see him all the time
When I visited Richard's house in 1992, on my way to Atlanta for his last race, that outer gate was not there. I pulled up to a little grocery store in town and asked where his house was, pretty sure it was a relative of his and he told me where to go! It was so cool! So I went up that road to the other gates. Fun times!
I'm a race fan, but not a NASCAR fan. I do like Richard Petty though. Met him years ago at the SEMA show, and happened to be the last person in line for his autograph. He and my dad talked racing for 20 minutes or so. If you had never seen a race, you'd have no idea that he was famous. He acts like a regular guy.
Richard was definitely the king of his discipline back in the day. A true champion on and off the track. A real innovator. In all likelihood his win record in the sport will probably never be broken. This day in history greatness should be measured by cracking the top 10 list for wins in the sport. Guys like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and maybe someday down the road Kyle Larson if he stays in the discipline his entire career which I'm not entirely sure he will.
If I could create a NASCAR Super team, give me Richard Petty in his prime, Dale Earnhardt Sr in his prime, Jeff Gordon in his prime, and Kyle Busch in his prime, with a bonus Kyle Larson waiting in the wings. Imagine what kind of team that would be if everyone got along. The marketing power, the personalities, the high racing IQ, and the innovation between them.
cool a film of Richard Petty's house minus said house. however nice to know the king and myself have stuff in common, I also Pee on my drive sometimes.

Cool invisible house.
WHAT A JOKE!!!! CAN'T EVEN SEE THE HOUSE. ALL YOU SEE IS A GATE AND SOME TREES.

Frankie Baby is taking us to the house:)
Cool man
They had more races in a season back when he started racing. That’s why he has 200 wins and nobody will beat that
