FYI--There are no prices on the plants because Flower District shops do a lot of plant rentals and bulk plant selling (events, etc.) The price would vary depending on what you want to do, as well as how many plants are involved. They're happy to sell individual plants to planty people, but it's not the bulk of their business. They wouldn't be able to afford Manhattan rents if that were the case. Thanks for featuring these shops. It's a unique slice of the plant world.
Good seeing the Flower District through your eyes, it used to be several blocks but has dwindled down to one block of stores. The red flower at 4:08 is a Gloriosa or flame lilly, really unique and beautiful.
Hi Ashley when you go back if you want the variegated oxalis simply cut it back they grow from tiny bulbs. I put mine outside in summer in full sun and cut back and let go dormant in house over winter. I have several varieties and I love them :) ! BTW you’re looking great!
oh how do I hate shopping at places that don't have price stickers on the items, cuz you'd have to ask same question over and over again about the price for everything, unlike if the price sticker is on every item, only then you'll know whether or not if you'd buy it for that price, it's so annoying having to ask.......
Welcome back to NYC Ashley. Enjoy watching you in my plant shopping area. Prices aren't listed but if they quote you a ridiculous price just walk away.
Hi Ashley you're looking so good. I'd lose my mind going through all those plants. Someday I hope to get the names down like you. I found a ring of fire at Walmart a month ago. I was so excited. It was a bit crunchy but the roots were healthy so I brought it home and it's doing good. Take care
Love this video. What a lovely plant shopping experience. The plant that looks like Ficus traingularis is Ficus deltoidea. And the begonia I googled and came up with two names, Farfugium gigantism and Ligularia deltata reniformis, both care called tractor seat plants.
Hi! Next time you visit NYC try going to Dahing Plants in China Town, The Plant Shed and Nelly's Flower Shop in Brooklyn. I promise you and your viewers will love those shops.
If I were traveling and found a very interesting plant I would do everything I could to bring it home. Especially if I could find a smaller one, I would buy a plastic container and pack it in my carry on . I’ve also been know to pack things / plants in a checked bag in a plastic container if it weren’t an overly long flight. 🎃🍁💚🙃
I'm in CT about 90mins away from NYC and I avoid it like the plague lol. I can't wait to see the big box stores there though I bet they are filled with treasure!
Hi love your channel very informative. The next time your in NYC go to union square. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday the merchants sell houseplantavwith very good prices, and usually very healthy.
I have a plant office now! I rent a space bc our home didn't have an option for a plant room. I'll have to film it to share. Looks just like my old plant room!

the spotted orchid is a paphiopedilum. has dark purple blooms
They can also have yellow blooms; I have both. The flower stems will be dark purple it the flower is purple, and green if the flower is yellow.
Thanks!
The phal with the moss has moss wrapped around the growth points. You can get it to branch out or maybe get a keiki
Oh that's a good tip!
@@LifewithAshleyAnita you can peel back the bracket and apply keiki paste or go organic and soak the moss in rice or potato water.

oooo I will definitely have to do that! Thanks for sharing. Always on the hunt for new plant places!
Hi Ashley! So glad you came to NY! What was the 2nd spot you went to with the strip grow lights? I'm from NY and don't recall seeing that store. 😊
I can't remember the name, but all the stores are right next to each other on the same block.
Hi Ashley! Just wondering if you have a designated plant room in your home in GR?
I have a plant office now! I rent a space bc our home didn't have an option for a plant room. I'll have to film it to share. Looks just like my old plant room!
4:08 African Flame Lily
The orchid with the spotted leaves are paphopedium
Thanks!
It’s a type of slipper orchid with marbled leaves
Thanks!
Philo black gold is melanochrysum
Thanks!
Black & Gold is another name for melanochrysum.
Thanks!
You have to go to Plant Corner in Harlem next time!
I’ll have to check it out!
I use Plant This and Greg App to identify plants and succulents when I shop and can't find a name.
we get so used to seeing all these plants as small, immature forms that it's hard to recognize them when we see them adult sized! LOL
Totally! I love the huge plants!
Did your Carolina house take a hit from the hurricane?
Thanks for asking! Fortunately Charlotte wasn't hit too hard, but our family in the mountains of NC got hit the hardest.
@@LifewithAshleyAnita You're welcome Ashley. Prayers for your family and all who was affected by the hurricane. 🙏🙏🙏
😮😮😮🫣🫶👍👌💚
