We stayed in Sciacca many years ago on our 1st trip to Sicily. The ceramics were beautiful. We marveled at the way the steps were treated art. The best part of all is we met family in Casteltermini, neither of us knew the other existed. To see the smile on my Dad’s face as he walked arm in arm with his newfound Cousin on the streets our family had not seen in over 100 years was the best.
Every Interrante in the world supposedly comes from Sciacca or Menfi (next door). Finally got to visit there in September 2019. My sister and I took my dad there for his 82nd birthday to visit his father's hometown!
I loved seeing the province of Agrigento, my grandparents are from there! My wish is to go there and visit any relatives that may still be there. Thank you for showing this part of beautiful Scilly!
I am just finding your channel. My g'grandparents were born in Sciacca and I am visiting for 5 days in Sept. 2022. Loved your video- you both are fantastic.
Thank you Alfred and Eszter for all these wonderful Videos of Sicily, especially this one from Sciacca which was my Grandfather's home town before he moved to America in 1914.I was to Sicily only once but never had a chance to visit Sciacca but will definitely make it next time I visit when it is safe to visit and hopefully find any family that stayed there..Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Sal, my grandfather came to the US in 1914 as well from Sciacca by way of Palermo (aboard the S.S. Canada). You can get the passenger list of the ship your grandfather arrived on via Ellis Island!
@@chuckinterrante4986 My grandfather also came 1914 on the San Guglielmo out of Palermo. Never been there but went to Catania and Taormina.Waiting to go back soon.
Thank you so much Eszter and Alfred for taking me to see this magnificent place! Sicily i truly so remarkable. The views out over the water, the sun setting or rising, the oh so green and fertile fields, the fantastic ceramics (I like that nice large colorful mug you got Eszter), the Churches AND of course the tantalizing FOOD! I would want to buy a LOT of tha freshly caught fish. It looks so amazing and I am sure tastes phenomenal. So enjoyable to see Sicily this way when you cannot be there in person. Thank you so much. I saw a lot of ceramics I would want to buy as well! Wow!
Loved your episode on Sciacca. I have a wonderful piece from Caltagirone. My mothers maiden name is Sciacca. She was born in Acireale (province Catania) Lovely episode. Thank you for taking us along 😘 ciao.
Great video. Nice to discover Sciacca. We were in Sicily in March and were looking forward to scouting out some places. Thanks to Covid, we just made it out of Italy (thinking it would be a short-lived shutdown, we had planned to make our way up to Rome and stay with my MIL). We had to make our way back to Spain via France and never got past Palermo and Catania. Hopefully, soon we will be able to travel again, and l am adding this place to the list. It so reminds me of our former home of Malta. Thanks for the introduction.

Hi guys. I have a very important question. I trust you too. I want to move to Sicily. I am. When I sell my condo & covid is over. I know you have been all over Sicily so I need your help. This started with a 1 euro home in Mussomeli or Bivona. I now want to live by the ocean. I love the ocean. You two help me so much. I love Cefalu. I do not like Agrigento. Looks too much like a city. Don't like pebbles on beach. What do you two think. Living alone is no problem for me. I also don't no Sicilian or Italian . My family is from Palermo. I have been to northern Italy 2 summers in a row & did fine. Traveled all over not knowing the language. What do you too honestly think. Thanks. Or any recommendations. Thanks again. I saw this blog of Sciacca & from what I see I like it very much. I am single & will be living alone. I can't spend too much. I want an old Sicilian house that I can fix up. I want to be able to get to Palermo. 3 generation Sicilian. I'm going to live there. I have been researching so much I'm going cross eyed. What, honestly, do you think of Sciacca. I like that it had tourists. I won't go to the other side. Anything below mt. etna I'm staying away from. Don't ask. Thanks again. It's ok if you don't want to get involved. Just let me know. Warm Regards Ciao Francesca Marino, my real name
Hi 1 euro houses are a.great idea they are meant to be very small. I looked at this as well maybe best to rent first explore and decide. I also would not want to be by Etna
I doubt you'll find any €1 houses by the beach, they are mostly in inland villages (Sambuca is a good one, not far from Sciacca). If you are still looking, Sciacca is great and l also love Mazara del Vallo, again, not too far.
