Thanks for this video. I met my husband in 2002 on a plane to Italy. Overnight flight which we stayed up all night talking from across the aisle. We stayed together the entire ten days of my trip and for all these years after. It was great to watch this together and see where our love was planted
Venice in the very early morning in mid-April with a light misty rain and a fisherman under a lit street lamp....a memory I will never forget. Piazza San Marco at night with the orchestra playing and the moon and the history and the beauty everywhere...sigh....soon...October....
Thank you guys for this tour of Venice! I visited many years ago & it's always been my dream to return. My great grandparents were from Poffabro & Udine. My great grandmother worked in Venice as a young girl. So I definitely feel I have "roots" in Venice & this beautiful area of Italy! Sending love & prayers for your "little lion". ❤🦁❤
The island you saw at 9:06 is San Giorgio Maggiore! Its church was built between 1566 and 1610. The canals and the gondolas look so romantic! Gondoliers have to go through rigorous training to get a license, which there are only around 400 available! The gondola's presumed predecessor was the scaula, a slim Roman boat with a flat bottom. Though it had a much broader, more symmetrical build than today’s gondola, it had the advantage of masterfully navigating through the vast meandering canal network. As Venice became an important city of world trade in the 16th century and its population subsequently exploded, the scaula became less suited to traveling through Venice’s crowded canals and lagoons, and little by little, the boat’s design began to evolve. The shape of the boat became dramatically longer and narrower, with its extremities partially jutting out of the water. By the 1800s, the gondola had been stretched to its current condition, the typical Venetian gondola now stretches about 36 feet long! Until the early 20th century, a gondola was often fitted with a “felze”, a small cabin to protect the passengers from the weather or from onlookers, and whose windows could be closed with louvered shutters, the original “Venetian blinds”. After the elimination of the traditional felze, in response to tourists’ complaints that it blocked the view, there survived for some decades a kind of vestigial summer awning, known as the “tendalin”.
Its been almost 20 years since I visited, and fell in love with this magical city. Thank you for the highlights! To me, its the most beautiful city in the world. My grandparents came from Santa Maria del Taro, a tiny village in the Liguria hill towns. I have to get back!
You two are hilarious and the cutest!! Thank you for the video. My son and I will be traveling to Venice in a couple of months and I’m trying to gather all of the info I can ahead of time to make the trip more enjoyable and seamless.
The Venetian gondole are so cool! Like you said, the term gondola has been around since the 11th century. It is estimated that there were eight to ten thousand gondole during the 17th and 18th century! Handmade of 280 pieces of eight kinds of wood (elm, cherry, walnut, lime, mahogany, fir, oak, and larch), a gondola takes about two months to build. They're black because of a law a doge enacted to eliminate competition between nobles for the fanciest rig. The iron prow-head of the gondola has neat symbolism! The S-shape resumes the twists of the Grand Canal, the six forward facing teeth correspond to the six districts of Venice, the tooth facing inwards represents Giudecca, the arch above the last tooth represents the Rialto Bridge, and the curved top end symbolizes the Doge’s hat. It does make a lot of sense why the Venetian streets like the one you showed at 3:05 are so narrow. I mean when you're trying to fit so many people on a group of small islands, you work with what you've got! The canals were the main traffic routes, so main entrances in old buildings were always on the canal side. Thus, they didn’t worry much about space between the buildings on land!
One of my favorite things to see on I Love Venice channel is you can see live footaage of different parts of Venice.. My favorite is the live Realto Bridge View... in the distance at night sometimes you can see lightning storm..
Thank you for your "troppo gentile" depiction of Venezia!! It actually brought tears to my eyes, especially the full moon. On clear nights in December 1980 and April 1995, I saw the snow glistening in the moonlight on "Le Dolomiti," from a "fondamenta" on the edge of the city in "Sestieri Cannaregio." It has been my good fortune to visit Venezia five times. The first was in 1972 and the last was 1995. Exiting "Stazione d Venezia Santa Lucia" for the first time is burned into my memory. I stood at the top of the steps enchanted by the sights and sounds of "La Serenissima” spread out before me on the Grand Canal. You brought back memories of my younger days and of people who are no longer with me!! Grazie mille!! Chuck in Northern New England
I’ve been to Venice twice I love it there I want to go back so bad. I love it there. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Hope your recovery is going well
Thank you so much for sharing your trip to Venezia. I am from Virginia with family in the Val Di Non. I miss italia so much and especially trips to Venezia.
My wife and I are headed ti Italy in a few months. Your videos are absolute gold! We have watched the videos for Roma, Firenze and so will hit this one! I capture all your restaurant recommendations in google maps! Plus, you guys are so adorable together!
We visited Venice last year, spent 5 days in this truly magical city ❤ when I first saw the Basilica it took my breath away, absolutely stunning. Will definitely visit again, amazing food, every turn there’s a surprise & delicious Aperol spritz 😊
I love this so much! 💚 My great great grandfather came to the United States in the 1880's from Turin. I wonder if he ever visited Venice... Have you thought about doing a "Everything to see in (insert city here)" segment? I would watch that. Also, Alessio could find the best mom and pop food place in each city he goes to. He does the best food reviews. 🤗
New to your channel and I love it. Makes me smile watching your live for one another and hubbys childlike wonder at American food. I sure wish I could have married an Italian from Italy instead of little Italy nyc. Huge difference it seems 😂
at night Venice is even more different from other cities: silent - there are no cars or anything else - you can sometimes hear footsteps. then nothing more. a beautiful feeling, in summer with open windows and quiet footsteps. you sleep well
This was such a great video! I didn't visit many of these places during my trip to Venice. It was nice to see more of the city that most people don't know to visit.
Wow I love this video!!! I am sorry you did not get to see the cats. We saw the cats in the colloseum. Our guide was surprised at that. But I am thinking maybe it was because it was right at closing? I really love Rome. I can't wait to come back and see more.
Tucci also went to the same cicchetti place for his show episode, even after multiple times in Venice, still did not get to it, but I am still keeping it on my list, since more people approve!
Whilst Venice is a nice place here are some tips that will serve you well. Don't stay on the island. Find accommodation as close to the island as you can. Walk across the bridge with no luggage for as long as you stay there, you will see more that way. Accommodation on the island does not have lifts and the stairs and bridges are plenty if you are carrying luggage. Dragging luggage through the streets will drive you crazy. What looks like some ones entrance to their house is actually a street. And the most important thing to remember is, the restaurants have 2 menus, 1 for the locals and 1 for the tourists. When you order something keep the menu and check the bill with what you ordered.
I'm mostly Italian, and I like pineapple on pizza. I expect Alessio would like me to surrender my Italian passport. 😂 The crostini (?) looked delicious.
I have the same problem, I once loved 2 wonderful, gorgeous men, but both died. I hope so much, god will send me another loving person to live a beautiful life in future ❤
Haven't Seen Many New Videos 😊 Did You Guys Leave The Country 😳 If Your Still In The United States Or Whenever You Come Back 😊 You Should Try The Largest Buffet In The United States 😊 It's Called .. The Shady Maple Smorgasbord .. In Lancaster Pennsylvania 😊 I Look Forward To Seeing & Hearing What You Think 😊 Tale Care 😊 Hope To See You In Lancaster Soon 😊
Does anyone know what happened to all their fun old shorts? Like her breaking the pasta in half and throwing the spaghetti on the wall to see if it’s done? I miss those
I live in southern Switzerland, not far from Italy (on the other side of the Sempione and Gran San Bernardo). I often go to Italy, but I've never been to Venice. I'm just worried about it being too full of tourists during the summer.
Ma daiii Alessio! Ma sto kakkio di mandolinoooo daiiii! 😂 Un Vivaldi o un Rondò Veneziano! Basta mandolino. L'ultimo che lo suonava è morto sulla Breccia di Porta Pia!!!
Thanks for this video. I met my husband in 2002 on a plane to Italy. Overnight flight which we stayed up all night talking from across the aisle. We stayed together the entire ten days of my trip and for all these years after. It was great to watch this together and see where our love was planted

Your sandwiches are not as stuffed as the paid fake influencers.
I love your honesty. 😘🤗
You don't get much honest youtubers these days...
going tomorrow for 2 days during Carnival, will be too busy for sure but lets try our luck
You found the picka-pocket lady! hahaha
Hi, nice video quality, what camera did you use to shoot this video? Thanks!
I'm mostly Italian, and I like pineapple on pizza. I expect Alessio would like me to surrender my Italian passport. 😂 The crostini (?) looked delicious.
Went to Acqua alta yesterday, can confirm no cats in winter either. Very sad indeed
I can't believe how few people there are. Usually it seems to be filled to the brim with tourists.
I cried this entire video. I will never make it there. Even if I did make it there I would be alone and have no one to house me or cook for me. Sad.
Im Venetian, no living in Venice but in a nearly city..i'll take you there if you come in Italy 😊❤
I have the same problem,
I once loved 2 wonderful, gorgeous men,
but both died.
I hope so much, god will send me another loving person
to live a beautiful life in future ❤
Bacelao! It's cod. At least if it's the same as in Portuguese.
Can Venice be seen in 1 day? + that pizza looks amazing
yes you can see in 1day but if you wanna go to Murano you need 1 extra day
Is it weird that I am suddenly thinking of Assassin's Creed II?

As an American I DO wake up to the National Anthem playing in the background😂
I missed what month you were there? Didn’t seem crowded
24 hours in Venice is like trying to see all of the Smithsonian museums and National monuments in Washington DC in 24 hours. It can't be done.
im coming this week good restaurants suggetions with pasta but no seafood and pizza ??
I live in southern Switzerland, not far from Italy (on the other side of the Sempione and Gran San Bernardo). I often go to Italy, but I've never been to Venice. I'm just worried about it being too full of tourists during the summer.
Sono Italiana di Brescia. Ti consiglio di andare all'inizio della primavera o in autunno. Ci sono sempre turisti ma meno che in estate.
Pizza in Venice is for tourists
Can we find acceptable Airbnb in Venice or burano
yes you can but you need to book super early
Ma daiii Alessio! Ma sto kakkio di mandolinoooo daiiii! 😂 Un Vivaldi o un Rondò Veneziano! Basta mandolino. L'ultimo che lo suonava è morto sulla Breccia di Porta Pia!!!
First position would work to save your lives.
Walking sideways against the column should work
lease let us know how you areJessi.
I could guess that your first stop would be food... because how could there be a second stop without nourishment?!
Love your videos, but definitely prefer when you talk rather than write throughout the video.
My wife is from scil
Interestingly pizza itself is an American invention.
Italians didn’t even know what tomatoes were until the 1500s.
If you could choose one place to eat in Venice, what would it be ?
Women are sooo much prettier in a dress vs you average Taylor swift copy
💚🤍❤
Why does this say one day ago it was loaded and 11 minutes ago it loaded again!
