The sequel is flawed but I kind of appreciate that it exists. This song is not like the songs from the first film but it's good. "Imagine someone to love who loves you" is not Goethe but it expresses Quasi's biggest wish that he loves someone who also loves him equally. Esmeralda loves Quasimodo but only as a good friend and Quasi accepts it but he still longs for someone who feels romantic love. He's just a human, it's totally ok to long for romantic love. If they hired a more fitting team for animation and the story/characters then it would have become a worthy sequel. I hope they will make an epic live action movie of HOND.
This would be my favourite Hunchback Of Notre-Dame 2 song, Out There would be my my fave Hunchback 1 song, It's really good how Tom Hulce, Demi Moore & Kevin Kline all played the lead roles of Quasi, Esmerelda and Phoebus again.

Thank you! Yes, it's kind of similar to "Beauty & The Beast" except Quasimodo never had anger issues like Beast. What I noticed is that Madellaine has a few similarities with Belle though (beyond the fact that they're both French). Belle is clearly seen as the most beautiful girl in the area, but she won't let that define who she is. Really, she is clearly more interested in reading books and dreaming of adventures than in her appearance. And if you compare her to the three sexy Bimbettes, it is like she wants to be plain-looking. It is maybe more subtle with Madellaine, but it's clear that she too is considered beautiful in-universe even if she's not as sexy as Esmeralda. However, she is clearly trying to learn a skill and is tired of only being Sarousch's "lovely assistant" until Quasimodo explains to her that it too takes some skill. And even as she's supposed to beguile Quasimodo, she is never as sexually provocative as Esmeralda could be in the first movie. Thus, both Belle and Madellaine are more relatable to me than Disney's hotter female leads are.
I don't know why everyone is saying the sequel is bad! I just watched it again with my brother the other day, and we both loved it! It's just so sweet and entertaining, I really love this movie!

I think it might also be partly due to the arrangement of this song. It’s not quite the power ballad that “Out There” is. It has a more whimsical melody and emotional tone.
I've said this before, but the way he words his desires, "Imagine someone to love who loves you, imagine to look in her eyes and see." kinda makes it sound like he's wishing that someone would love him so that he doesn't have to stalk them like he did with Esmeralda. As if the ordinary miracle is not having to stalk/molest the person you desire because they desire you back, to be able to look into their eyes and see love rather than terror.... I may be reading too much into it, but I'm calling this the most bombastic tune about not wanting to molest someone for once since Hellfire. XP
While I do admit the animation in this sequel was terrible, I don't think it's the worst sequel ever, the problem is that the first one is nearly a masterpiece, so of course people's gonna critize it since it doesn't have the same dedication. This song in particular was actually very sweet, and personally, I love Madeline's personality and how Quasi finally found someone that loved him for who he was. That's, probably, the most insecure I've ever been in my life, cause it made me feel unwanted, second pick, worthless. We're currently not talking until I learn to love myself but it's hard for me. I mean, how am I supposed to love myself after waiting 3 months for a girl only for her to be off with her childhood friend, who made me think I didn't need to learn to love myself cause she made me feel completely comfortable with myself?

the thing with aaladin and the hunchback of notre dame is that the animation in their first movies were well done but their sequels' animations were done differently, still this is a great song, and an underrated movie I use to do flips all over my house while singing this song as a kid
Quasi is pretty much me right there. I've seen so many guys with a girl that makes them feel like they're good enough and I use to wonder if that will ever happen to me, even if it's just once. At one point, I started looking at them and I'm scared that, because of my autism, I'll never be good enough for that girl
