Rode the 2018 model and it was fun. I felt very old-school and well made. There was a feel of slide of the rear wheel on each gear change. Otherwise the engine was smooth and the bike was stable. Great review Rikky.
Good video, I live quite close to Cotswold BMW and taking this machine out on Demo soon. I have found myself in the position of potentially buying one of these and wondered what this exact model was like in as much as the Scrambler. I gather the cross spoke wheels you have on this one is an optional extra and it lowers the seat height by quite a lot. You didn't seem to struggle with the height,is that right. I gather it's 220kg wet, is that about right, how did you find the weight? Cheers in advance.
Hi Skydart, I had to do some research on the wheel options after I rode the bike as it is a bit confusing! I think that with the spoked wheels, you have a choice of a 17" or 19" front. If you choose a 17" front than you have to add the lowering kit too and that pont the bike is essentially the same as the R nineT Pure. But with 19" spoked wheels you keep the extra height of the scrambler. Despite the 19" wheel and the scrambler styling, it's still a road bike ultimately that can get you a little off road, but with the weight and low ground clearance you wouldn't want to get too technical... forest tracks/fire roads would be great. It's actually a good bike on the road though... 220kg sounds high but with the boxer engines weight down low, it doesn't feel like a heavy bike at all (expect perhaps if you had to push the bike uphill with the engine off!). It's a cool bike which is fun to ride 👍
Nice write up 👍. Surely it must have a fuel gauge!!. I’ve never really been a BMW motorcycle fan but I’ve just had a session on a BMW S1000RR. Holy Moses, I’m now converted.
Yeah no fuel gauge on the R nineT range, just a low fuel warning and then distance-to-empty. But I would just do the trip meter reset each time I fill up and it's not such a big deal really. It doesn't detract from the bike, which I really had fun with! Now the S1000RR is a bike I'm looking forward to having a spin on 😊
Hmm first impressions Rikky no to enamored with the looks ,interesting 2 plugs per cylinder what's the advantage of that then ? . So would you take it off road also have you tried the 850 adventure at any point Rikky ? interested to know good review 👌👍
Hiya Mal, I think 2 plugs per cylinder helps with a more complete fuel mixture burn which relates to emissions. I took my R1250R off road and so I don't see why this one couldn't do the same with this one! 😁 I've not ridden an 850GS yet but I do hope to do some of the 800/850/900 models this year 👍
I'm only 5'7" and so I can't really offer much in the way of useful advice! I do have a32" inside leg though and I don't recall my lower half feeling cramped at all. he seat height is just over 32" so not very low. I hope you can get to sit on one in a showroom to see how it feels. The 1200 Scrambler XE is much higher though and may be more suitable.
I ride a BMWR1250R, and in reality I don't need a rev counter, though there is one there. The bike has superb torque and acceleration on low revs, and on a public road never take it above 4000 rpm, there is no need,. On the track it might be different.

Thanks for sharing 😊
I have the 2022 scrambler with some extras but this 719 paint scheme is glorious!!!
The Scrambler is such an enjoyable bike to ride - I can imagine either that or the Urban G/S will end up in the shed one day!
Nice review & it's a pretty cool, interesting & quirky bike. Not sure I'd ever buy one but I totally see the appeal as it's classy & a bit different.
These R nineT's are getting under my skin! 😊
Great review as always. It’s a beautiful bike. I replaced my seat, much better.
HELLO fellow R nineT fan. Great to connect and really liked this review. New Sub and looking forward to sharing the BMW passion.
Thanks KazoMoto, sorry for the late response I've been missing notifications 😑
@@RikkyTang perfectly fine - thanks for calling past. Hope to see you again on the channel
Love these R9Ts, wish they had better pillion provision so had to go for the R1250R for my 2 up touring bike
Yes I can understand that, it's a shame as the bike is full of character and would be great fun to take on longer trips!

@@RikkyTangExactly bud, I've always used the trip meter to know fuel range on all my bikes, even ones with fuel gauges...

How tall are you? I'm 6"2 and hesitating due to size. This or Triumph Scrambler 1200.

Does this model have cruise control ?
Yes it does - you can see the switch on the upper side of the LH switch gear.
Really nice bike but, for today's standards, not having a rev counter or gear's indicator is a dealbreacker for me. Thanks !
Thank you, hope you enjoyed the video 👍

@@malcolmabram2957For an inline 4 they're kinda/more useful but as you say on the boxer it aint a big deal
