Could always put in larger injectors on a stock tune. It woke my t444e up crazy good with just 180/100's. Smoked my at545. Now it's got 400/400's and rips like heck.
We always recommend a modified injector file if you run aftermarket injectors. But I'd love to see a video of how good those 400/400s run on the stock tune.

Id be up for sending you the ecm if you want to tune it, but really does run awesome right now. Egts are just on the edge of too hot and I would guess it has 300hp right now. And a slight haze once the turbo lights.

Those things are a nightmare for us, and we have 30, some of us even 40 years of experience under our belts maintaining a fleet filled with busses that have that transmission. Two years ago we were unable to find parts for the things, so we stockpiled on swap kits that Ward Navistar over in Pensacola made us and began swapping in brand new Allison 2000 series transmissions at the first signs of issues with those AT545s from there on out. I think we only have maybe.. ten busses left that still have AT545s of the 40 or so that are still in service that came with them? Whatever, I'm glad they're gone. Those busses usually went in the shop for transmission issues anyway. ALSO, just a quick note, if you're tuning your busses, check and make sure you aren't missing the spring on the exhaust clamp. We have a couple busses we received from Escambia and one of them was given to a local charter school because their bus broke down and they had to send it off to a third party shop since the county won't let us work on them. That bus had a DT466, and the exhaust clamp on the hot side of the turbo was missing a spring, causing THE bolt to slowly loosen from the vibrations. The clamp eventually fell off, and so did that pipe, letting carbon monoxide into the cabin of the bus. How did we know? Because I was the first one to start feeling the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning.
@LukiRudaka I picked up an md3060 to swap in but the current used and abused at545 IS STILL HANGING ON. Been through neutral drops, burnouts, flooring it everywhere, and tuned now. Still shifts solid.
Y’all should be replacing all the sensors & IPR. The IPR will make a whole lot of a difference in power. The valve moves in & out 100s of times a minute.
I love it, I have the 444e tranny but only get 58 miles per hr. Would love to go 65-70. I have the 25ftr 7.3 bus. They call me slowpoke my whole life, would like to be called the sleeper slowpoke now. I was told to buy a chip for my computor, my bus is 2001 7.3 international T444e.
Ive never understood how there are SO many aftermarket tuners catering to the Power stroke motor, but we T444E users have what seems to be almost zero aftermarket support......seems like you could throw a rock in any direction and hit somebody trying to sell you a plug in simple tuner for a power stroke, but i cant seem to find anything to help out us IH drivers. Thats how i found this Video, and i wish i was closer to Georgia, cuz i'd love to get this done to BOTH of my T444E equipped tow trucks.....

The 1994-1997ish will use the Hydra and will work with any transmission. The 1998-2006ish will use the Orion and it will also work with any transmission.

Man I've been killing myself trying to find info on properly tuning my International rollback with Spicer 5 speed cuz it's a pure 🐖 uphill even unloaded 😖 It's a 95 4700 that supposedly already has larger injectors and "had" some sort of chip installed (what kind I have no clue cuz there seem to be ZERO to be found for the T444E anyway) until they had trouble with rough idle/stalling and tossed it 🤷🏻♂️ She tops out at 69 mph, I'm thinking, in about the 2700 rpm range so I'm sure that's about all I'll safely get on that end which I can deal with...however, I've GOT to do something about low end torque and conquering hills better!! Super nice/lower mileage truck that I STOLE for less than half the average price and it's better than twice the average condition! BUT this turd is quite sad as is when it comes to any power honestly...
I have an identical truck to what your talking about and I completely understand where your coming from I am trying to get something done about it aswell I believe I just got a message from these guys so I'm honestly hoping that they can help me resolve my problems with mine because I love these old trucks they are what I started out in when I first started in the towing industry all the way to now that I have started out on my own they are all I look for when buying a truck because you can't beat them they are very slow but so reliable! I have a 1996 4700 t444e spicer 5sp and it's the 3rd one I've owned and the 7th I've drove in my lifetime and I just love them. I am in the process of trying to save 2 other trucks that I know are setting and going to waist aswell and I can't stand it I am on the owners buts trying to strike some kind of deal so I don't have to see them sit. One is an identical truck year model motor just with a 6+1 trans and the truck has a allumuminum carrier and mine has steel, also the other one is a 2000 4700 dt466e spicer 5sp that was a medium duty wrecker setup and they pulled the bed off and stuck it on a more modern chassis and the truck has been setting since then just going to shame with only 130k miles and apparently even a fairly fresh inframe on the motor. It may be the easier Truck to rescue, far as the 96 4700 with the t444e 6+1 truck I know that the people that have it said they had done work in recent years and the owners of the truck had gone out of business during the repairs and never came back for it and apparently left the bank holding the title to it so that one is gonna be a tuff one to rescue because it's gonna take making a deal with the lean holder and then making a deal with the people that have been holding it in storage for 5yrs or more on top of there repairs. But I'm really hoping to save them and have all of them Along with my truck now have this work done to them.
The starting HP on this particular application was 175 HP. This is the most common power level for the HEUI injected T444e and DT466 applications. The customer has since changed his turbo, exhaust, added an EGT gauge, had his 6th gear unlocked, and we've retuned the PCM to put his power levels where he can still maintain safe EGTs, even in the hills. It's at about 80 HP over stock which puts the total about 250 HP. This is about the limit of the injectors in this application anyway, so we're good. At some point, I think he's going to go with a larger injector to get a bit more power for better acceleration. At that point, it's just a matter of keeping an eye on the EGTs. To answer your other question, what year is your 4700? We've done many of those applications over the years. As long as it's '94 or later, we would have something for it. Just give us a shout.

It already has 6th gear and a EGT gauge. It's got a hauler bed that the previous owner used for pulling a horse trailer. I'll be pulling a 5th wheel camper (my family and I are fulltime RV). I want something that will be able to adapt to mods like you listed and the woman at PHP I talked said it would. I'm coming out of an HDT, an '01 Volvo VNL 660 with a Volvo D12 motor. Just about everyone in the HDT RV community says the medium duty's, like an International or Freightliner M2 will be a dog. I think your product has great potential in the market and am eager for It's release and to purchase it. Thanks for replying.

That is awesome that you got that much more power out of the 7.3, I have a 2000 short bus (6 window) and I'm pulling a 8 thousand pound Trailer (I sometimes get down to 12 mph going up steep long hills. I noticed you have 2 monitors near the visors (what make and model are they), I also noticed the 2 items on the lower left of the side dash what are those for?

I've got a T444E in my truck as well. Used to be an international bus now it has a Ford f700 body. Has upgraded turbo and exhaust intake and fuel pump. But you said the HEUI injectors are what limit the potential?
The intector size on this particular bus (and the Ford OBS trucks) are the primary limiting factor for horsepower. Depending on the application, you may be EGT limited before horsepower limited.
@powerhungryperformance I am building a 1999 crew cab 4700 with t444 for a over the road hauler , have all gauges installed to monitor engine, diff, etc to monitor this thing as closely as possible, have a 5inch exhaust ran egts, are good. Is there anything I should look into adding before I contact you for a tune job reliability is upmost importance but I need more power as I do run 70 up over the rockies regularly, loaded weights shouldn't exceed 26,000lbs
The chips won't work on a vehicle with this PCM. Also, unless you've got aftermarket injectors, supporting mods, and custom tunes, you aren't going to make 140hp over stock on a 95.

@@michaelbenoit248 Close, they're are actually three governed settings for then 444 "E" platform. Mine happens to be dialed back to about the 195 HP mark. The next one down I think was 174 HP, don't quote me on that though lol

I got a 1995 Thamos ER School Bus with a Remanufactured 2007 250hp Cat 3116 that has been underpowered by the school district. Any way this guy can reflash my ECM to reset to the 250hp?
It’s the same, but you can swap out the gears in the rear diff to add a lot of speed without raising the RPM. Higher RPM will cause a lot more wear on the motor.
These things are frigin awesome, but you have to have $ for injectors & a new transmission. I found a t444e & almost got it, but I’d like to get a bus where it can run on waste oil fairly easily these powerstrokes are not very fond of the waste oil.
@Patrick Baptist, well the idis do, but after my experience with my 95 you can keep your veg the waste motor oil is cleaner & better for the IP that waste veg is actually very hard on your injectors & IP or HEUI injectors, if you do it you just need to clean your injectors out after use with pure diesel.

The computers are completely different. It's taken us a while to be able to communicate and custom tune them. If you need anything, reach out.

I see it works with a 1996 T444E, but what if it has an AT545 transmission? Does it need to be a 1000 or better transmission?

I believe those were mostly for cameras and GPS. The Orion Reflash System can show live data, it just has to be plugged into a Windows laptop.
Wonder if this will work on my 97 4700 rollback...
On the 97, we would still do a Hydra Chip.

It will be a similar interface, but the PCM code will determine which tune is appropriate. You can call the shop or email us: sales@phptune.com
I put a ts 6 position tuner in my 95' 7.3. You can switch on the fly. 0-140 + hp

We wouldn't have anything for that, unfortunately. We're almost primarily the Fords and Internationals.
