I just did a trackday with 8 years old tires pirelli diablo rain. They were still soft and i had a great time on the track in the fastest group. Still good laptimes. Even in the dry they stick very well, but the rear tire was getting hot and melted a bit. But afterwards they were still ok in the wet and i have been riding another full hour in the last session. The front tire is still like new. Did allready more than 5 trackdays with this set of tires.
If you want to go fast, do not skimp on rubber. Had brand new wets on at oulton park last week. I usually ride towards the rear half of advanced group, at oulton I didn't get passed by anyone for the first 2 seconds. I'm not usually that fast, only thing I can put it down to is the £400 wet tyres, when 90 percent of the others were probably on scrubs
Wet tires last quite long. Pirelli's last longer than conti when you keep riding ln them even if track "completely" dry. But the conti has more wet grip If used only on wet surface, you get days out of them. 2years ago we did a full afternoon continuous openpitlane (4 hours) in rain. And 4 other days... So about 6 to 7 days should be possible. That beaing said, we are quite friendly on our tires. Where others only get 2 ton4 days out of metzeler TD, Dunlop gp212, pirelli superbike sc2... We always get around 6 to 8 days out of them. Riding on the edge of needing to switch to expert group, so not a too slow pace
Good video but cameraman should really think when to show tyre n the person explaining it when u were talking about tyres and showing the grip I wanted to see what it was but u were not looking at camera he was showing sorry but had to say this
WHAT TYRES TO USE IN THE WET...............................................On the TRACK! Being a year round rider i thought i would have a look at this, but no,it's for the 5 or 10% of riders that do track days......less than that i bet if it rains. Twatish description.

Hedge hog bike social/Bennett’s did some tyre advice last year. There’s a series of vids on their channel.
I too thought this was somewhat unhelpful
