I put a new set on my 23 1200 tiger RP around mid season and have about 6600 km on them. Looks like I might get close to 8000 out of the rear.

We are travelling extensively this year (& of course filmmaking in the process!) so I’ve put TKC80’s on and reset the trimester trip meters and once we’ve written them out we’ll out out a comparison video for people 😊

Great video. Ive got pirelli mt21 on my himalayan, 80/20 off road, bit wobbly for first 50-100 miles but once run in, fine on road, even with a good lean, not noisy and awesome in deep mud. 3000 miles and at least another 3k left on both. About to fit new dunlop trailmax raids to my v85tt, brand new design, some call them 60/50 road biased as so good on road but will be compromised in deep mud.
Interesting info about the MT21’s. We used them doing Iceland and on a few other trips and really had trouble making them last over 4000 miles. Sounds like we should give them a go again! 6000 miles is amazing mileage 👍🏼
Let us know how you get on with the trailmax raids. We’re always on the lookout for longer lasting tyres without giving up too much performance off-road 😊
I really enjoy seeing what other people carry, I thought the two bags either side of the fairing would also double up as a crash guard - handy for me as I drop it quite often but don't like crash guards there...
I now have a few bits to add... a trail stand, the elastic idea too would be useful for me... always picking gloves off the floor.
One tip in exchange for all the ones you gave would be to use dust caps that have a valve stem removal tool on them... made of metal and you can always find it.

I think all bikers are the same, we love seeing what other people carry, and I enjoy picking up the odd tip or two from other riders and travellers.
I love the idea of the valve removal tool that you can’t lose! Brilliant tip and I suspect I’ll pop a couple of those on the bike.
We’re setting off on our first 2024 travels in a few weeks, can’t wait, this year we have some exciting plans.

First look at these tires and I can confidently say that I know exactly how smooth and quite these tires are on the road, and this is what I would prefer to ride on over anything else. Especially since they are made by Michelin, which has been some of the best brand tires I’ve ever experienced on my car and truck when it comes to smoothness and longevity. But in all reality, for me, I can’t seem to venture too far from the more aggressive tires on my 300 Rally, because I need the confidence and reliability off road. I just can’t compromise my dependability off road, for the limited time I spend on road. I wish that I could find satisfaction in a set of good looking ADV tires like these, but I just can’t bring myself to switching to something with less traction. So I am envious of you and happy you find these to be suitable for all of your needs! I’m currently running Tusk Dsport on the rear, and it performs quite well for my needs, other than being loud on the road, but the compromise is necessary. And even though the front Dsport has performed great off road, I will be changing it out for something that feels a little more planted on the road, but not to lose any traction off road.. Probably something like the MT21 or the most aggressive MotoZ, or something that I just found recently, which looks very appealing to me, is the Goldentyre GT723 Fatty. The Fatty is supposed to be a superior sand tire. Which in theory, should perform better on road than a mud tire.
Interesting thoughts and selection of tyres. We regularly run MT21’s and find them really good 👍🏼

Thanks for your review. Some friends ride Michelin Anakee Wilds on their GSes. They are happy, but these dimensions (110-170) are a different construction to Honda's sizes. I have Bridgestone AX41 on my freshly bought (hooray!) CRF 300 L MY22. Since German buerocracy is overly strict with its citizens' pastimes, I've got to take care of the correct sizes - it's impossible for that MY to get 90/90-21 or 120/90-18 accepted at the moment. I will start with a new AX41 rear (120/80-18) in spring, the front 80/100-21 is still fine. For more demanding stuff than ACT later in the year I'm eyeing a Michelin Tracker front and a Pirelli MT21 rear. Both are not too pricey. Now I got to get the little Honda registered/plated. The MT21’s are one of our favourite tyres on the little Hondas. They are pretty good on road and very capable off road as well
We found the trackers a little too twitchy on road but as we all know everyone has slightly different feel for tyres and I know plenty of people like them

I had them on a 1200 GSA and was very impressed by them, and that's a big bike . Did the ACT Pyrennees and ACT Portugal with them. Amazing tires . Soon to be fitted to my T7 world raid to tacle the french TET

Have the Anakees on my R1200 GSA, pulled off the trail max missions, no grip in greasy mud…where I live the Anakee have done well in the red clay mud, mixed gravel…but most likely due to the weight on my front with a bigger bike, front tire howls. But the grip is good in the rain/dry on road otherwise…nice video, stay safe, keep’em coming!

Now, if only we can find something with the same performance but lasts just a little bit longer

Great informative video. I have so much faith in Michelin tired. We live at 8000 ft. In Utah. Last year we had over 500 inches of snow in one year( Snowbird had close to 1000”) We have run their tires on our trucks for 30 years. So when I’m looking for tires to run on my Africa Twin to Cabo at the tip of Baja, I was in the market for either a 70/30 or similar. You just sold me on the Anakee. Michelin should reward both of you for your salesmanship. At least buy you dinner. Thanks for the unbiased truth. Jeff

I also got about 3500km and seem to have at least as much life left.
With that said being knobblies depending on where you go you may need to change it sooner, i.e. these are not road tyres that you wear till they are 100% flat
Love your honesty in your videos would love to see you review the mitas eo7 tyres they are a really good tyre that can go for at least 9000 km
I’ve heard so many good things about that tyre! The only worry we have is that we understand it’s extremely stiff sided and very difficult to manually spoon on and off 🤔
That’s a problem for someone as mechanically interrupt as me 😂

Let me say (as a German). this is the first and only true review of that tyre! When I followed many German or Austrian reviews, I got asleep cause full of tiring words! I.ll put that shoes on my Tenere XT 660Z for Pyrenees and Maroc, if I get there (with my not so far 70th birthday in 3 months). I think, the neagitve profile will have enough grip on gravel as well on streets to reach all my OTR sections.

I ran them on my Pan America they did good on a very heavy bike, especially in sand. The rear does wear quick. I also have a CRF 300 rally, this was a useful video as I search for a tire combo for it.

how did they do on hwy? I also have a Pan but do not like the stock for gravel roads etc. I want to take hwy to the dirt
@@greenrush4313 they are buzzy with vibration. I switched to Dunlop Trailmax mission for my longer trip. Do much better on dirt than the stock tires and lasted over 12k miles.
I have them on my 250 Rally - they're a great tyre and on-road handling is suprisingly good!
We were really impressed with them 👍🏼 Currently running TKC80’s as a comparison.

I rode Mitas E-07 Dakar (the version for the extra mile) and they met my expectation about longevity:
- 15.000 km on the front tyre (completely worn)
- 21.500 km on the rear tyre (still good for a few more)
I actually changed them after 3 years as the rear tyre started to slide in wet corners/roundabouts.
I'm now on Heidenau K60 Scout and will see what happens. ACT Pyrenees is just one plan for this year.
BTW Mitas changed some of the product names. I can imagine to use more aggressive block tyres in the future and when I'll need longevity I'll choose the Dakar version again.
In case I have to (dis)mount tyres by myself I'll need to look for tyres with a softer sidewall 😅

According to Mitas documentation
90/90-21 54T TL MITAS E-07 (M+S)*
120/80B18 62S TL MITAS E-07+ (M+S)*
is the most knobby oriented combination which results in the new 2024 tyres as follows:
front 50/50
Mitas Enduro Trail 90/90-21 DAKAR
rear 60/40
Mitas Enduro Trail+120/80-18 DAKAR

Great review. Excellent tire. I am a fanboy after trying just about every "adventure/travel" tire on the market. Off road, the Wild outperforms other manufacturers "adventure/trail" tires that claim to be 80% off road and 20% road use. Short of slicks, hard to find a better pavement tire. I get about the same mileage with these tires on an 890R. My go to tire for tubeless travel set up. Expensive in the states - 150/70-18 rear is $280. Going to try the new Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ this season and see if it can compete with the Wild. For a more aggressive long distance off road travel set up, the Pirelli Scorpion Rally Race is a good tire (have to run tubes). Better than the Wilds off road but worse on pavement.

We’re currently on our way to Portugal and we’ve got TKC80 fitted (the grand daddy of adventure bike tyres!)
We’re recording real world wear as we travel so hopefully we’ll get round to doing a comparison video soon.
No spoilers but they were fitted during our latest video (A shambolic day in Wales) and they were pretty amazing in some atrocious conditions!
We used the Anakee wilds in ACT Portugal, I thought they were great, well suited to ACT as it is split between road/off-road with nothing overly technical. A great all round tyre!! 👍 I have bought a set of the new Mitas Enduro XT+ tyres for the new bike, little worried I’ve went to aggressive though. I might have to change tyres back and forward depending on the mission.. Anakee wilds are probably a more realistic choice for all round.
That is an aggressive tyre, but I bet it’s awesome off-road. New bike!? That sounds interesting 😀

I've got the anakee wild on the front of my cb500x with a mitas E07+ on the rear and in dry off road conditions they are a fantastic combo... in mud they suck but you can't have everything.. had them OK my 250l but i rode more harder offrosd trails and they didn't really cut it....

2k on An anache wilds and the rears are toast in the UK. I have settled on MT21 on the rear now. An antique design, but it It refuses to die and I really want to replace it, but hate spending money. The front is a Michelin tracker. Louder than the Anache wilds, but better off road. Same amount of wear. Cheaper. The tracker on the rear always felt like it was trying to kill me on the road and never lasted more than 2k. Trackers do seem to puncture easier than anache wilds. I have had three. None in the three sets of anache wilds...
I agree about the trackers, I felt the same feeling when running them. Interesting that you only got 2000 out of the Anakee Wilds. As you saw from the video we got more than double that.
We used MT21’s on a fair few occasions, including around Iceland and we actually quite liked them, but strangely found they didn’t last as long as the anarchy wilds.

I’ve got the same experience with these tyres as you on my CRF250L. I’ve done more road riding with little weight on the rear and they will need replacing at 4500 miles.

We did the Pyrenees ACT about the same time you did but on bigger bikes - KTM 890 and a Yamaha T7. I was running Anakee Wilds until the trip but we both fitted Dunlop Trailmax Raids for the trip. As good as the Anakee Wild off road but so much better on road. You can’t tell you’re on a 50/50 tyre on the road. 4500 miles from the rear despite 100bhp abuse.

Looking at the tread pattern it seems that perhaps they wouldn’t be good in proper mud? But the payoff would be much better mileage on road and hard/rocky trails?

Correct, they're not a mud tyre. All I can say regarding mud is that I got stuck in the same hole you did on the ACT on a heavier bike and got out without help. 🙂
Interesting. Will look into them, we’ve got some very high mileage journeys this year that will include significant tarmac over thousand miles before we hit the trails properly. Maybe that’s a tyre I look into 👍🏼👍🏼
Just a quick question. Do you fit your own tires? I know most people don’t, but if you do, how did you find they were to fit? As a general rule, I found the longer lasting the tire, the stiffer the sidewall, hence the trickier to fit.
They weren't bad to fit. Easier to fit and balance than Motoz which I use for winter green laning. I could post some pics of them in action but I don't think there's a way on YT.
Also take into consideration the weight and HP of your motorcycle…that will affect the longevity of a rear tire
We can only do a real world review on the tyres to the bike we fitted them to 🤷🏻♂️

What tyre size did u get for the front? 80/90/21? The stock tyre is 80/100/21 but u cant get the amakee's in that size, so I assume u cant either go for 80/90/21 or the 90/90/21

The cost of these tyres is astronomical. For an equivalent tyre i ride dunlop d603 rear. Could do D605 but i want to keep gear specs same. Similiar km's and half the price. MT21 front.
Interesting comment. We’re always looking for alternatives to try. Just had a look at the tires you discreet and they are the same price as Anakee wilds? Perhaps we’re in a different part of the world?

Just fitted these to my CRF 300L What pressures do you run on them? I know Honda recommend 22F 22R and Michelin recommend higher and don't need to pressure down for off road as radial tyres?
Good timing with the comment. Currently in Spain with a broken bike so happened to be on the internet 😆
With the caveat that we aren’t experts, we run 24ish on road and we definitely pressure down off road depending on terrain.
We’ll tend to use around 18 off-road as a general pressure that seems to work for us. (Lower for deep mud or sand)

Hi Pete, I’m not sure what you mean by security bolts? I think I might know them as rim locks but I might have the wrong end of the stick.
We haven’t fitted rim locks as we tend not to run extremely low pressure and more importantly we are slow and steady (we’re not skilled enough to be fast 😆)
@@wanderinghonda7963 Ha Ha, I guess I'm a bit old school always used to call them security bolts 🤷🏻 but I meant rim locks . I only mention them as they seem to have quite the effect on tyre wear but again in mentioning that I've rarely balanced my wheels did you or Steph balance yours?

No I never balance the tyres after I’ve changed them. At first I used to have a slight niggle that I probably should but after years of doing it without a single problem balance wise I’ve come to the conclusion that at the speeds we ride it is fine not to.
Fingers crossed that statement doesn’t come back and bite me!
@@wanderinghonda7963how easy or difficult was it to change the Anakee Wild tyres yourself? I’m thinking about buying some tyre levers and having a go, but then again I might just take it to the shop.
I’m not an amazing tyre change artist but I do all of our tyres so I’m relatively ok with it.
I personally found these great to fit! The sidewalls aren’t super stiff and I changed them with just my small set of travelling tyre irons (a week in Friday we’re releasing a video showing everything we travel with including our tyre change stuff if that’s of any use?)

Hello from Germany All Videos are great! But i have some Question to this Video? Do you drive only the Michelin Anakee Wild Tyre typ or also other Tyre Brands. What is your Opion about the Heidenau Brand i drive this brand up to date on my motorbike ( KTM lc4 lse Military) because i have the original military wheel set t and also a second black paintet et civil wheel Set. I drove first the Michelin T 63 on the miiltay wheel set till the were to old for 10 years on this Wheel Set only for Off Road Events and Travel to this. But on the black painted civil Wheel Set i drive 90 per cent on the street i drive since years the Heidenau K 60 Scout also in the Winter. Now up to i drive on the original miltitary wheel set the Heidenau K 60 Ranger, my Option is the are good one many situation ( bad and goed weather snow and mud) i have for me decision this use up to date since last year this tyre type on both wheel sets.

Goed morning Thank you for your answer every owner of a Motorbike have ist own favorit tyre and this ist goed so. In the Future maybe you will test this tyre brand self and i have buy my Motorbike stuff self and have Nobody who get anything for my Motorbike. At least i use my Motorbike for every thing and also my Motorbike have the Equipment : Small Adventure Holiday, Drive to shopping, to the Workshop an other freetime Activity ( on private Motorbike Offroad Club, German Military Reserve Club Events, a civil Motorbike Club Help Unit that
help the Police by Traffic Situation on Motorbike Driving Events in Public Traffic).
It definitely sounds like your motorcycle gets plenty of use 😊

If I would have done the same review on these tires the result would have been totally different on this pair of tires which I do not recommend. They are very noisy and do not last with my Africa Twin. on 16mm of rubber, 13mm is gone in the first 3000km compare to other brands that I tested on my bike...

They are very overweight and priced. Only got 500km out of them.
well you’ve seen video evidence of the exact mileage achieved on our as well as video of the terrain they were on.

I have about 3500km on mine and they still have plenty of life in them.
