Fish caught looks more like a nice seatrout to me...

Our whisky is far superior! :-) Yeah it's sad really the way Scottish salmon runs are not the same as they once were. It takes skill & tactical awareness to catch salmon in Scotland these days so more of a challenge. Some like a challenge and others not so much. Horses for courses.

The younger generations of Salmon Anglers will never realize how good the 1970's and 1980's were in Scotland for Salmon fishing, even the Central Scotland Rivers the Salmon and Seatrout were running all year in vast numbers, in the 2nd week in July onward to 31st October if you only landed for or five to your rod in a day it was a bad day, only blanks were if the rivers were high and dirty or a rising river, even then you could sneak one out with a bunch of worms.
It is so sad to see once great Rivers like the Forth, Teith, Earn, Endrick, Leven, Tummel with very nearly empty pools. Sad Days the prolific numbers of Grilse, Springers and Grey Back Back End Salmon never to return. Time to hang up the Rods it has been a wonderful Salmon fishing life.

Not the right attitude pal. There is a new generation of salmon fishers and conservationists who can make a change. Times may never be as good as they were but they can certainly improve, only with the support and enthusiasm of the older generations though. Wish for us what you had when you were younger and channel your attention and wealth into the right places.

Well you older guys also took home WAYYYYY too many fish over a very long period slowly picking off the big fish and their genes and making the smaller fish die before growing up to big fish to restock the big salmon genes leading to smaller fish that have less roe etc and spreading small fish genes wich have less life expectancy and so on. It's not just pollution, farmed salmon lice and diseases , river habitats getting ruined etc. YOU OLD GUYS also have a BIG part in making the population what it is in Scotland today. You might not like me saying so but it's the plain truth so deal with it....

@@brawmull I dont know what river you fish but there are no new anglers on the association water i fish(150 members) the youngest guy might be in his late thirty;s and the majority are 55 and over and have been on this stretch for 25 yrs plus .Yongsters are not interested in Salmon fishing they prefer Rainbow trout fishery;s.A gillie on a famous Spey beat told me that this party took 2 teenagers with them and they just sat on their phones all day and asked him to fish .
