Salmon fishing in northern Sweden - a flyfisher’s best friend

- When Lars Munk, aka Munken, decided to go all in at salmon fishing, he settled down along Torneälven in Pajala, Swedish Lapland. Back then, in the early 2010 very few salmon migrated the rivers in northern Sweden, still Munken fell head over heels in love with the sport.
The number of salmon running the rivers increased over the years and now the river system of Torneälven is considered to be one of the most productive Atlantic salmon systems in the world.
Meanwhile Munken and his friends have gathered an impressive track record of catch big Baltic salmon on the fly, with Kristian Stridman’s impressive fish of 128 centimeters at the top - and Munken always seem to have something to do with it.
This is some kind of testimonial of how having a friend like Munken can change the fortune of every salmon angler out there.

I am not a fly-fisher but this short film stirs some deep primeval instinct in me to go fishing in Torne river. The production of Baltic salmon in this particular and spectacular river is through the roof, that is well known for all that follow these sorts of statistics. Perhaps as much as 70-80% of all salmon in the Baltic sea come from this river alone.
Rivers of this size are usually dammed for hydro power but since it is a river that defines the border between Finland and Sweden both countries have decided to keep it pristine for the benefit of both countries and by extension, all of us.
Thank you for posting this!
Cheers 🍺
It sure is a spectacular river system. Thanks for watching, Peter 🙏

Hi Dear Friend! Thank you and have a nice week!❤️😊👍38 and sub.
What tackle do you recommend for this place?
Hi! In the big rivers up north most people prefer a 15 foot rod, some a little longer, some shorter. As the water level drops further into summer a lot of fishers will go for lighter tackle. Here's a article with some more know-how, hope you find it interesting 😀 www.swedishlapland.com/stories/how-to-catch-a-baltic-salmon/
@@Swedishlapland Thank you!!
@@Swedishlapland Man this was a nice read! Regarding the shorter 13 foot rods. What line class do you use? And Scandi line all the way or sometimes Skagit?
#8-9. I would say most people still use scandi style, some have adapted to skagit or sometimes some kind of fusion. Fishing wise it probably don't matter, as long as you get the fly to the fish 😀
Trevlig film man blir inte mindre fiskesugen nu 😀
Snart är det sommar :) Tack för att du tittar.
Love it
Thanks for watching 🙏
He sleeps with the fishes!
