  • Join us on a trip to the majestic Ljungan River, meeting the Baltic sea just south of the small town of Sundsvall; the river is renowned for hosting some of the largest Baltic salmon. While its lower reaches flow wild and untamed, further upstream, the landscape is wrecked by a daunting dam, halting the migration of wild fish. Despite extensive restoration projects, the lower section remains threatened by an artificial hatchery, risking the genetic integrity of the native Ljungan salmon. This remarkable river is a gem awaiting rediscovery, with the potential of becoming a symbol of pride for the Swedish salmon community through much needed conservation efforts. Exploring Ljungan promises a thrilling adventure on its vast and challenging waters.

    Only fished for regular atlantic salmon, but I've heard that the baltic salmon is even more elusive 🥶 when it comes to rivers, its a shame that Klaraelva (trysilelva in Norway) is somewhat destroyed. It was one of Scandinavias top 5 during the 50-60s, with the Vänern- salmon spawning there...

    why they don’t build a bypass, that doesn’t cost much?

      The big energy companies don't like great fishing in their areas.
      People will complain when they want to build bigger plants etc...
      You gotta love them ;)

    no fish ladders?

    • @frodinflies
      @frodinflies  3 месяца назад

      No - we prefer to take the dam down! There are better ways to generate electricity!

      @bneaclab1 3 месяца назад

      @@frodinflies I agree. Just wondering why fish ladders were not put in when the dam was built though. Unlike here in BC Canada the dam shown seems pretty low and a ladder would be sensible. With such a precious resource it would seem obvious to at least construct a ladder.

    When it comes to salmon fishing, this place is a dumpster fire.
    As of right now you are not allowed to fish for salmon.
    When you do, there is very few that goes up in Ljungan.
    Most of the years they also have different diseases.
    Much better to fish at Bergeforsen, Sollefteå or Ljusne ;)

    • @Justmakesomenoiz
      @Justmakesomenoiz 3 месяца назад

      Both Bergeforsen and sollefteå are terrible places if u want to fly fish. Ljusnan is fine though. And yes there aren't much salmon rising but when it does it's a good chance to have a big one.
      And it's still a beautiful river and fun to fish on.

    Why are you making a salmon film about a river where salmon fishing is totally forbidden? Very strange...

    • @danielpersson437
      @danielpersson437 5 месяцев назад +3

      You need to get som knowledge about the fishingrules before you make a comment like that.

      I just read the rules on ifiske. It says that salmon fishing is forbidden all year around. Or are they wrong about that? @@danielpersson437

      Fredningstider:
      Fiske efter lax är förbjudet hela året.
      Fiske efter havsöring är förbjudet från 15 oktober till 0ch med 15 november.
      How about this from Nedre ljungans webpage?🤷‍♂️

    • @danielpersson437
      @danielpersson437 5 месяцев назад +1

      1. Vi fiskar havsöring i videon.
      2. ”Laxfiske är förbjudet…” innebär inte att det är förbjudet att fiska, däremot innebär det att återutsättningsskyldighet råder enligt gällande lagstiftning från havs författningssamling.
      Hoppas jag har kunnat hjälpa dig räta ut dina funderingar :)
      Med vänlig hälsning, Daniel.
