Fun fact for those that care: pirates like Blackbeard didn't actually care very much about gold and silver. In fact, the real treasure was high value goods like sugar cane, spices, cotton, tobacco and dried fruits.
Well since he didn't care much about selling it and getting the booty for itI assume he just really loved spinning new clothes out of cotton and eating sugar canes and dried fruits?
@@denster7715 Obviously it would be sold. It was just quicker and easier to transport stuff like that and sell it at the various ports than it was to lug around a lot of heavy metals.

There are two things that I really enjoy about this show: one is how many of the smiths who are "simple" knifemakers and still enter the competition knowing they may have to make a poleaxe or a crossbow, the other being how genuinely nice and humble they seem, the guy who loses is always really cool about it
I'm no kind of expert, I just really like this show. I think this is the 1st time I've ever commented and I've been watching now for almost 2 years. The man tht won really looked like he was surprised. I'm happy for him because he did everything by hand. Wow. Amazing!

Seeing how those swords could chop through most of the ribs of the dummy just makes me feel bad for anyone who died in real life to one of those swords.
Got to love the way that they do the strength test in this episode.. Swinging the sword in such a direction that, if it were to snap, the chunk of heavy, sharp metal would fly straight at the guy who forged it xD
Why do people who enter these competitions think heavier is better when they’re making it? The only time a heavier blade wins is when the lighter blade fails.
Ah, the History channel... there are three known sword hilt components recovered from the wreck of Blackbeard's flagship. This sword bears no resemblance whatsoever to any of them.
I feel like it’s unfair when they go back to their home forge and one guy has thousands of dollars in equipment and the other guy has his arm and a hammer. But when the arm and the hammer wins, that’s a real forged in fire champion.
Anytime there is a question about weight you know its going to be an issue, this guy saw the writing on the wall and didnt do anything about it. Weight is one of the biggest issues the judges consider.

Dude that won really was a pirate. Even his attitude at the end took on a pirate like feel. Hahaha
Wow!... Another Close One. Thanks for Sharing
Makes it to the finals, knows it’s heavy while crafting it. Laughs it off, and says it is what it is.
These people must not watch the show cause 90 of weapons the min it's heavy they lose.
Forged in Fire : we want you to make this iconic blade
Competitors: Damascus Damascus Damascus Damascus Damascus
I like to watch Forged in fire because of two reasons. 1. Weapons. 2. Doug n him saying ".....will kill"....
As a descendent of Edward Teach, it is an honor to have my ancestor represented this way.
I thought Blackbeard didn't sire any children, aside from an alleged daughter but that's speculation

I knew he lost when he said to use it as an anchor because it was heavy. He knew it should've been lighter.

Imagine how cool Blackbeard felt holding that
It would be crazy if the loser got mad and started trying to hurt someone with the sword that “underperformed”😂
