The legend also says that when they threw his headless body in the sea his head suddenly roared, "come on, Edward!" And his body swam around the vessel three times before it went limp and sunk.
Two interesting facts you missed was that he was 6foot 6 in a time when most men were under 6ft. In addition to being a giant physically, he had mad staring eyes and set the tips of his famous beard on fire to look even more wicked. Also he carried 4 black powder pistols which would all be loaded, once fired he would draw his cutlass since they took too long to reload in the heat of battle. Hence 4 pistols.

@@anonymous-cy2ms Yeah lots of action. It’s basically it’s own telling of the book treasure island. The ending/twist isn’t my cup of tea but it was a decent show.
Interesting Fact: Blackbeard was a very tall man, especially for the time he was born in but he wasn’t very successful. He was very scary because he braided his hair with rope, his height and weight made him a big man and since he was very scary, he would often win battles without a fight, meaning that they’d surrender and pray for peace. (He was 6’5 and 220 lbs)
Also as the name suggests, he had a large black beard. This also added to his scary look because nobody in Europe or in European colonies grew beards in the early 1700s, only men that didn't shave were mentally insane.

Dude, he captured 15 ships in 3 weeks, after he stole stede bonnet ship, he captured a french slave ship and turned it to a war machine... 450 crew members... Damn what a legend.
Redcoats had nothing to do with this. The one time Blackbeard actually came face to face with the Royal Navy, he got be-headed, and his entire crew was either killed in battle or hanged after.
I never said Blackbeard was hanged, I said his crew was. There was a slight hint of this when I said: "...he got be-headed, and his entire crew was either killed in battle of hanged after."
I always thought tales of pirates were overblown, maybe plundering a few ships. Boy was I wrong. I see why he is still a legend 300 years later. The balls one this guy!!!
I know why I got this on my feed (again): I like history and I just rewatched (casting to my TV) the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie, that has Blackbeard as the antagonist. Gosh! Them tracking features work so fast.

This is what I'm going to share because I do believe you do it right.
farewell !
Awesome, thank you!
Amber Jones you are so right
This is has more information than Netflix's six part series on the pirates of Nassau.
Dude, he captured 15 ships in 3 weeks, after he stole stede bonnet ship, he captured a french slave ship and turned it to a war machine... 450 crew members...
Damn what a legend.
Great work man. Please make another videos and with other notorious pirates such Bartholomew Roberts, Calico Jack Rackham, Henry Avery and others.
I love how the mounted his head on the ship pretty cool 😎
OBX Season 4 gonna pop
Fr
blackbeard representing my home, Bristol ~
arr' me matey
and mine... ironically he is actually classed as a local hero here but as a fellow bristolian you already know that.
He was a white guy with dreadlocks, obviously he was from Bristol.
The 42 people who disliked this are guaranteed redcoats!
Redcoats had nothing to do with this. The one time Blackbeard actually came face to face with the Royal Navy, he got be-headed, and his entire crew was either killed in battle or hanged after.
he did not get hanged i can assure you
he got wounded by the sharp side of the sword 27 times
and still lived
then he got his head cut off
I never said Blackbeard was hanged, I said his crew was. There was a slight hint of this when I said: "...he got be-headed, and his entire crew was either killed in battle of hanged after."
i dont know but i think some of his crew could have escaped and swim back to Nassau
EDIT:i said run instead of swim
@@americantemplar6553 After an exhausting battle with the Royal Navy? I doubt it. Maybe some were spared, but I highly doubt they escaped.
this is possibly the best yt channel ever!!
Centuries ? Legend Pirate Forever !!!
It should be noted that almost half of Black Beard's crew were freed slaves.
I always thought tales of pirates were overblown, maybe plundering a few ships. Boy was I wrong. I see why he is still a legend 300 years later. The balls one this guy!!!
Wait until you hear stories about Henry Morgan or Laurens de Graaff or Henry Every or John Taylor...
"Short life and a merry one"
I know why I got this on my feed (again): I like history and I just rewatched (casting to my TV) the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 movie, that has Blackbeard as the antagonist.
Gosh! Them tracking features work so fast.
Lol the quick zoom on blackbeard's face at the end is the greatest stinger I can think of. Nice
Once I was a pirate
That roamed the seven sea
I slaughtered many people
Even pirates like me
I stabed them with me cutless
I shot them with a gun
But most of all
I killed the for fun
I buried lots of treasure
Under the ground
I buried lots more
Where it couldn't be found
And if they saw me
They were very scared
Because they knew
I was Blackbeard
If you could do other pirate videos, could you do: Ching Shih, Hayreddin Barbarossa, Olivier Levasseur, Henry Morgan, and William Dampier please? Thanks!
Nice, really like the narration with the map movements.
Now I wanna play sid meier's pirates! We need more pirate documentaries!
ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
KUROUZU!!
Marshall D teach
greatavielite lol was looking for this comment
MUGIWARA!!
BURAKKU HOORU!
Someone needs to make a AAA movie about this.
BlackBeard From the anime One Piece :3
Blackbeard's two year reign of terror was just a massive bender that got out of hand.
What a great breakdown w/a ton of info crammed into a 6 min vid!! Great job!
Fun fact: Blackbeard and Whitebeard were confirmed by Oda to be based by Edward Thatch; Blackbeard. By this we can see that Blackbeard will eventually be luffy's last enemy.
Okay bye, I seriously just went here for One piece reference lol
Luffy probably gonna end up making a deal with the world government to bring blackbeard down, with all the devil fruit powers his gaining I can see another war happening to take him down
Ni ne lol me too 😂😂😂
Anyone remember Assassin's creed Black Flag ???
Me i remembered thatch death thats so sad
Altaïr Ibn-la'ahad
In a world without gold, we might’ve been heroes
Out X Sn1per so was kidds death
I came here because of one piece because it has a villain named black beard
L8RSTORM lol yeah a lot of people probably did the same personally I don’t care for that anime but I’m happy other people like it and I was expecting to see a lot of one piece comments lol 😆
Really
Not from a history book
Not because Blackbeard was one of the most famous pirates to ever live
But because of your overrated cartoon
SlewedBoot25934 I agree
@@SlewedBoot25934 There's a difference between Cartoon and Anime. Also, One Piece is only overrated in Japan.
@@venmathepirate3076 want some soup with your idiot juice
Hearing Nassau brings assassins creed black flag nostalgia. I loved that city
I personally liked Havana most.
Black sails is a great show. We need a new movie depicting all of this. Would be epic imo.
I still can’t believe he has two devil fruits
Whitebeard?
@Dave Shaffer i mean blackbeard only can steal devil fruits thats lame
xddd only cool persons understand
Rip
And now kids dress up as pirates for Halloween. I wonder if in another 200 years those kids will dress up as Bloods and Crips…maybe even lawyers.
kids already dress up as bloods and crips...did you not go to school?
He was a mover and shaker. Badass, fearless. Philadelphia USA
That ending was badass!
Genghis Khan's Mongolia is a must to produce!
