Please check out Nepalese Khukuri... It also has its legendary history on it's own... Nepalese warriors have fought and won in many wars with that weapon.
Bladesmiths, both your weapons performed as equally good, so for the final test you will battle eachother with your weapons to the last man standing ,let the best blade win. Good luck bladesmiths
It's actually happened quite a few times. I believe there's one where both failed on day 3 of a 4-day challenge, but would have to hunt down which one that was.
He wasn't super cocky though. The most "cocky" thing he said was that people who complain about coal usually don't know how to use it properly, which even if it is ironic that he burned through his blade, it's also true that he still didn't complain because he knows how to use it and knew the error he made.
I love forged in fire, there are no awkward pauses or unnecessary filler to up the watch time. This show is just straight to the point and it's fantastic!
Id argue it was more so cartridges and “repeating” designs that really did it in, then tbh WW1 really was the last nail in the coffin as even in hand to hand combat they were too large to be effective in the trenches.
Thank you he’s my uncle and it seemed like everyone only had bad to say about him. He was authentic and forged the classic way. He persevered really well, too.
Hey History channel I don’t know who run the show but I am really want to suggest one of the weapon forms Japanese history ‘ Sword of Uesugi Kenshin: Dragon of Echigo’ what interesting about the sword is that it’s doesn’t have a sword guard. Thank
Wait.....I've never realized this. Why did he wield a cavalry saber in Master & Commander? He was a sea captain. A sailor. What advantage would such weapon have while fighting on the ship?
And I'm pretty sure the regulations had men equipped with cutlassess since 1804. I want to say the Ottoman sailors used shorter versions of the saber in the navy; pictures show Oruc Reis and Barbarossa with pretty short curved blades pretty much identical to the classic cutlass (which came from European hunting knives) . The key point of boarding combat was to fight at close quarters, hence the use of musketoons, pistols and blunderbuss.
British Naval Officers of this period used blades similar to those depicted in this episode as did many infantry officers as it became increasingly fashionable circa 1800.
I just saw a Sneak Peek of the brand new season of Forged In Fire (on their Facebook page) and there I confirmed that Wil Willis is not hosting the show anymore
Todd came across as arrogant, Dave came across as amateurish. Despite both these things, I think they both made good blades. I'm no bladesmith but I'd assume smithing with coal is a bit harder than with a gas-powered forge, so good on him for that. Overall, congrats to both.

Hi
Respect for both of them, they handled the adversity well.
Please check out Nepalese Khukuri...

Lol awesome
First time I ever see both contestants having to start over half way.
It's actually happened quite a few times. I believe there's one where both failed on day 3 of a 4-day challenge, but would have to hunt down which one that was.
@@swaswj414 have you gound it yet
Todd is literally the "Vegan Crossfitter" of blacksmithing.
the only type of blacksmith who would lose to the weeb
@@CaptainCrap77 huh?
@@artorias9893 do you not speak english or have you not watched the video yet? the vegan lost to the weeb
@@CaptainCrap77 who was the weeb?
@@artorias9893 the guy who stated he’s only use to Fantasy Blades like Katanas
That's cool when they have similar shop equipment. Compared to one guy having a Big Blue and other dudes got a nice hammer. :)
it makes me happy that the pretty humble guy beat the super cocky guy even though he tried putting in all those details
Yea, that’s always nice.
Todd lost. .
He wasn't super cocky though. The most "cocky" thing he said was that people who complain about coal usually don't know how to use it properly, which even if it is ironic that he burned through his blade, it's also true that he still didn't complain because he knows how to use it and knew the error he made.
People who complain about using coal don't know what they're doing.
Burns blade in half.
Ooops lol
Yikes
I nearly spat out my drink 😂
He didn’t complain tho. He wasn’t wrong lol
He was taking a direct shot at me over something I'd said in the green room. :P
"my experience with swords is mostly from fantasy swords like katanas" ok, massive Trigger here 😂
I swear 😂😂
Indeed, that was so funny lmao
IKR 🤣
yea those high fantasy katanas. caught that immediately as well.
And cutlasses
"Hard like trigonometry" 😂
I love forged in fire, there are no awkward pauses or unnecessary filler to up the watch time. This show is just straight to the point and it's fantastic!
Doug putting his bloody shirt to the washing machine: This shirt will definitely KLEAN.
5:08 amazing handle. That would work very well in combat, especially with sweaty hands.
8:07 IN! UP! TWIST! OUT!
Too bad it was loose
Apparently Todd hasn't heard the phrase "Work smarter, not harder."
1:21 casual weed plants in the background.
Any episode of Forged is a good one but I especially liked the contestants, their simpler, similar set ups and with the restarts. It will entertain
Never thought of Dave saying "it will cut" after a sharpness test, just like Doug.
Come one Dave ,katanas and naval sabers are historical weapons.
favorite thing to watch before bed
Good job Dave. 👏
2 blades made with primitive forges well fone to both
The weapon was still very used during the age of gunpowder. The advent of smokeless powder however did make the cavalry sabre obsolete
Id argue it was more so cartridges and “repeating” designs that really did it in, then tbh WW1 really was the last nail in the coffin as even in hand to hand combat they were too large to be effective in the trenches.
@@jeebusyaweirdo3733 Smokeless powder made those repeating designs far more feasible, and automatics possible.
Todd is the best guy I ever saw in this show! I liked his style..
Seriously only a rookie would put hot metal in cold water
This just goes to show how hard it was back in the 9th to 14th centuries when they had to do every thing manul
Well done to both. Kept on plugging away and both turned in really nice-looking weapons.
Todd is the exact type of guy you don’t want working on your house lmao.
Love from India 🇮🇳
Doug: "Bladesmiths.."
YT subs: "Place bits.."
Love the show. Next challenge please make. Pulwoyar & Talawar. Afgan sword. Thanks.
"Be a handle" made me chuckle
Doug: Bladesmiths...

Todd doesn't even hand shake his opponent
I really admire Todd. He is a man that makes and takes things in his hands. He is self-made and stands proud while doing so. God bless you.

Explosive
Fortunately the judges made the right decision at the end 😍
Great job, but I'm kind of dissapointed because they didn't even try to behead those dolls with these babyes.
Todd is fecking cool as fock.
a handmade work is better than anything not gonna lie
Considering they both had to start over 2 days in... they turned out great.
They should've been more specific: That's the 1796 British light cavalry sabre, which was inspired by Polish-Hungarian sabres.
“I SAID STAB NOT TICKLE !!”
How are katanas and cutlass fantasy
0:28
Um WHAT !?
No thrusts !? Did he really just say that 🤦♂️
I guess your secret potion didn’t work buddy 🤣🤣
This is such a cool weapon
My saying is this: When the going gets tough the weak leave.
When the going gets tough, the weak submit their blade to the judges and leave the forge.
i prefer the other blade
“Hard as trigonometry” lmfaooo
didn't know christian bale and david hasselhoff could forge.
"fantasy blades like katanas" ... right
My experience with swords are : Dungeons & Dragons costume swords

@3:03 Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys is helping Todd? Greasy hammer work.
It's the handle that made the difference.
@3:15 can you weld a break like that? Build it up and then file it back to original thickness?
The handle of death.
love from india❤️
Love your videos from EGYPT 🇪🇬❤️
No
@قاسم سلامه No
@قاسم سلامه القلب ❤️⚔️
I love when the underdog wins in these. Dave seemed chill.
I have never seen a freshly forged sword with blood groves and rust on it.
I miss the "it will keel".
Of course.
Im always suspect of "todds".
Another good forging video! :D
so you're telling me i could split a bullet in half by cutting through it with a sword?
Okay who wants to see a team of people from knight fight and forged in fire where the guys from fif make weapons for the people in knight fight
An Otaku vs a real gringo great show.
" i forgot when you dip a hot blade in water...." you can tell he's only an amateur.
Not just a cavalry sabre, a 1796 Light Cavalry sabre 0.o
And it thought splitting a bullet with a sword was reserved solely for anime lol. Made sense to use a hollow point tho,
Dave's sword looks more like a scimatar rather than a cavalry saber though
Call me when you fecide to forge the Warcraft sworf frostmine...
Since when are Katanas and cutlasses fantasy blades dude? 2:19 ?
I guess he meant that theyre kinda more fantasized than sabres
I would’ve been surprised if Todd won the man made his sword out of old rusted metal lmao
He’s my uncle it’s all he has lmao he lives in Amanda it’s like 10 minutes away but it’s a super small town and he’s kinda poor so
What if one day someone has enough and attacks the judges with the swords and what will the judges do?
Let's hope they film it
I see.. He must've been talking about: "The old Way's of the Flex". How am i supposed to take this guy serious?
Who says you need a state of the art forge to win forged in fire?
Dave should have been also disqualified for disrespecting the katana.
6:34 his reaction
That was definitely his O face.
The Cavalry sabre is not intended to be sharpened...
I just saw a Sneak Peek of the brand new season of Forged In Fire (on their Facebook page) and there I confirmed that Wil Willis is not hosting the show anymore
Dodong Balbas , I won't miss him.
"I'm the kind of guy who wouldn't pay a penny to see a pissant eat a bale of hay on Sunday".
Wut?
I couldn't even make that bit out 😂😂
I'm genuinely surprised these blades didn't snap on the bullet test.
Apperantly it's rather easy for the blades to tank a bullet. I only know for sure that it's true for the edge and not the side/flat.
Why would a naval officer carry a cavalry saber?
Why do we never see the tempering, I mean right after quenching your blade is brittle as f. You can't just assemble it!
Did he really say a katana was a fantasy blade?
"Hold on your butts!"
*bf1 flashbacks*
8:08 where did it go? The dummie?
That one judge looks like a Klingon 🤣👆
The cavalry saber isn't really any different from a cutlass, they just changed the guard on it...
The guard is the same, the blade is actually different. It also depends on the individual model, some are closer than others.
I have only seen the bearded guy speak once fyi
0:51 No, it was still used by cavalry actively.
"Fantasy blades, like katanas."
Sir???

working harder for vanity's sake is stupid
The kill test sucks. Dave could destroy those ballistic dummy completely!
Dave at the age of 80 telling his grandkids for the 300th time about winning Forged in Fire.
Awww. Somebody doesn't like me. I may cry.
