  • A documentary feature film about the most controversial skier of the last decade, LIKE A LION tells a tremendous story of adversity and self-confidence, tragedy and triumph. Following the high-risk, high-adrenaline life of seven-time ESPN X-Games Gold medalist Tanner Hall, LIKE A LION is a film that goes beyond skiing, beyond action sports stardom, beyond the rock-star cliches to examine that special courage that allows the best of us to continually comeback from life’s toughest blows.

3-4th time rewatching this over the years. Considering it all I consider T the best all around skier of all time, so athletically talented in skiing gifted with natural ability, skill and drive. his natural talent for skiing is off the charts, no one has compared and stuck out since. i mean consider all those wins, NO OTHER skier has compared since in consistently being on top. besides that the ability to ski big mountain like a pro is just incredible. this movie is always an inspiration

The closest I got to skiing and getting paid for it was working as a ski tech at Lee Canyon and on slow days they'd let us go out and do some runs, while on the clock. Haha, I got $5.50 an hour but loved every minute of it and would've probably did the job for free. I was 17 years old, with no worries in the world. 35 year's ago 🥺 where did the time go? For any young people out there reading this, now's the time to take crazy jobs, try crazy things and experience things. Youth is fleeting, take advantage of it while you have it, because you're only young once and you're not getting any younger.

Key part are his parents figuring out his talent and supporting it for his will. Perfect example of successful parenting.
Not getting stuck in systematized schooling and growing your kid to a muppet of the system and THEN even having the honor to call it „successful“... but any free-minded activity a „waste of time“

I never had Cable TV I missed the after 2,000's I guess. I lived and breathed skiing from 1978 until 1983. I guess I lost track after that. Used to watch the Warren Miller movie every Fall .. There is even a clip of me skiing in a Mogul Contest @ Vail on 1982.
I skied the back Country and Power @ Alta in 1983 .. but I never did that Inverted crap .. I blew out my knee because my bindings were cranked 100% in a Mogul Competition @ Park West.. I never had surgery just wear a brace now. As you get older the aches and pains get worse. I chose to do the Mogul skiing because I thought it was safter than Moto-cross.
I guess you have to choose your risks vs rewards wisely . I never drank all that much and never smoked weed so there is that..
I would like to know what Tanner is up to in 2022? I looked on his Insta-Gram didn't see much.

I think for tanner to have been riding the wave of progression from 2001 to 2004-5 he got a little bit possessive of the claim as the leader of the freeskiing revolution. I think underneath tanner hall is a nice guy, but i think at some point he lost sight of the fact that there were some other skiers who exceeded his level of talent.
