Holy shit his take on Vail - amazing. Please share that clip to the gram, I need to share that to some folks. As a boarder and core listener, please keep diversifying with guests from different areas of the snowsports industry. This breaks down barriers and I love it.
100% right about these lift prices and the ignorant people. Fucking loud and clear from out here in Sun Valley. This place has always been kook central, but it’s fully overwhelming now.
Obviously Tanner wouldn't answer himself for the Michael Jordan of skiing question, but you know we were all thinking it. Tanner will always be a legend and this interview made me respect him even more.
Boys as always the BomB of a show keep it up! But this episode watching I had noticed a lot of water bottles in the booth. I ask, can we cut the plastic out and maybe bring in a water bottle brought to you by The Bomb Hole id buy that. But in all seriousness as a hippy dude out here trynna save trees and water and the planet in general id love to ask we cut the use of single-use plastic man! Big oil doesn't care about if there is snow on the mountains in winter they only care about the green in their pockets. Don't be fooled by who makes them plastics.
Hell yeah this episode was the deepest one yet. Really made a hot tub in that landing yo! Fuckin sick Tanner great inspiration on why to be conscious of your mental health.
Ha ha I’m 48 years old I still ride as hard as I can and skate as much as I can I never lost the filling and I never will . Broke my neck broke my femur tore both my ACL‘s broke my ankle got hardware up the Ying Yang in my body nothing stops me I love shredding it is my life !!!
Seriously gave me goosebumps the way you all were talking about Henrik. I'll never forget working as a lifty at Bachelor, and seeing Henrik go through the line to load on the chair. One of the few pros that would make eye contact, smile, and ask how we were doing. I'll never forget that dudes love, passion and genuine persona. Boss.. Recovering from ACL surgery myself, so I'm running through these episodes. Keep going strong fellas
Not even through the episode yet but damn the stuff about vail hits home. They recently bought my local mountain which I’ve been riding since 1995 and they’re running it into the ground. Staff is literally walking out mid shift to the point they don’t have enough staff to run all the lifts. They’ve raised prices and completely killed the family vibe. Super sad. #vailfail #wheresmybombholemug
Tanner is the shit!! Hung around with him a little when I was younger in Park City as we had mutual friends. Always such a good dude! Love hearing his story. So spot on with Vail. I'm from Park City and grew up snowboarding here and being from a lower to middle class family I cant even afford to go ride now for even a day. One of the reasons I havent been in a snowboard for over 10 years. So disappointing.
@Tanner- props for bringing up Muller, I've been wondering why he's not come up. Hopefully the community of his peers are attempting to help him through.
I listened to this when it came out, but felt compelled to comment on how refreshing it was to hear Tanner's take on, well, everything. Throwing my hat in the ring for Henrik next.
Love this interview..as a snowboarder and action sports LOVER, I always loved tanner now I know why!!! Please get MFM, Shaun Palmer and Jamie Lynn on!!
I was there in 2009 when Tanner went down at Stevens Pass during the TGR shoot. Still to this day, the screams of his pain haunt me. This dude is an absolute animal, and such a stand-up human. Big love Tanner
The Believe, The Massive, Retallack Tanner was the best transition from competitions to backcountry filming in the industry. Paved the way for guys like Sammy, Dane, Kye, Sean/Callum, etc. Respect to the BombHole for getting Tanner on. Great discussion guys!!
I have been consuming snowboard media for about 20 years and I can honestly say that the Bomb Hole is the best thing to happen to snowboarding media ever.... bringing up the danger of pain pills Is very important. You guys are the Joe Rogan experience of the winter sports world/culture.
I respect his skill, insight and commitment, but with all these severe injuries I doubt he will be skiing in his 50s, although I am optimistic. He is a genuine guy; great take on the ski industry.
Always loved Tanner and now I love that dude even more!!! I have struggled with addiction and what he said was so on point ! And now at 44 I am enjoying shredding even more now than ever!! But yah Tanner your the fucking man big ups🙌🤟
I been in the ski game for fourty so i get it...lot of injuries along the way...still skiing bumps at 62 with no acl 8n either knee.....Tanner is an animal... very cool to see the guy hes turned into...taking a shit after a bad 8njury😲
CO local here, you hate to see it and say it, but the vail resorts feel grimy. You know you're talking to people who really love shredding when they're telling you they'd rather be at the smaller mountains where the vibes are shockingly different. Really loving the skier introduction into the show as well dudes. When I'm riding I'm always with my skier buddies and man it's nothing but good times. Wouldn't have it any other way.
I never realized Tanner had the upper mid-west type accent. I know he's from Montana, but it's very similar to the stereotypical upper mid-west way of speaking. Not surprising since a lot of the same groups settled those areas. Def my favorite accent.
I named my son after Tanner, no shit. I saw him win in Whistler 2002. The best dude on skis period. This was a treat from the kid from Kalispell. He will continue to blow minds when he recovers. Respect.
not sure on this, but i would guess that oakley didnt pay him anything extra for that, most things like that are built into a contract. if so, thats baller
Love this thanks Tanner! I've struggled with drinking and with spliff/tobacco addiction since quitting cigs. Skiing is life. I'm cleaning my shit up. Peace brudda!!
Daffys and crotch grab spreads- definitely need a comeback. Rolling the windows down, okay. Cat out of the window, bombholes, backslaps and god gifted you lucky…not control. Not intended. IM(most)HO. -Lhotse
SKI BOSS! TYANNAH HALL! 11:20 Real talk though, this is what's wrong with skiing and other extreme sports. Companies like Redbull put on events where people can get life changing injuries and aren't even compensated for it unless they win. I know that Tanner hates on skiing becoming more like golf, but I think it would actually help it if the format changed. This won't change unless pro skiers get together and unionize which I don't foresee ever happening - But who knows. Also Michael Jordan of skiing is Tanner Hall, Henrik is more like Lebron. But I like that Tanner didn't claim that title for himself. Tanner Hall was my idol growing up, I met him in Montreal at the height of his drinking and drug problems. This is a totally different person, a better person. Good to see him doing so well, this guy is a legend!!
Another legendary board slider / street grinder. OG 1 board or 2, if you coo, we fly. Mike Peterson was & is our friend brother watching above. Chin up grin up, go big, be brave, love life. To me injured, means. A forced opportunity to slow down, an opportunity to work on something else or go inward. Stay blessed from Black H-ills, of SD. Reasonable usage of Cannabis is the way. Alcohol is a long term depressant. Keep charging at everything
Just found you guys! I'm a two plank'r and loved watching Tanner in old school MSP videos. Crazy back story about Tanner? Never knew all these things transpired... Truly an amazing convo.
Yeah, stem cell therapy is supposed to help torn Achilles tendon, just gotta make sure you're not dealing with Kooks who just want your money.... Let that sucker heal.
Great vid. As for stem cells, they're awesome. I had an accident where i had an awful corneal abrasion in both eyes and a corneal ulcer in one and i could barely see. I was devastated, thought i would never be able to ski again because my vision was so bad, and I fell into crippling depression for about a month. Then i got an experimental stem cell treatment for free since I was a test subject and my vision is literally better than it was before the accident. It took a week for them to really take full effect but they can work miracles.
you can see a clear and strong bond between Henrick and Tanner that very few skiers have with each other throughout the you can see how much tanner smiles when he is talking about henrick the only thing i sadly didnt agree with in the edit is that henrick is the mj of skiing in my personal oppinion it is candide thovex but it is all oppinionated and everyone is so good henrick comes in at a very close number 2 for me and this shit is so fucking debateable but thats just my oppinion
Great episode. Sounds like Tanner was self preserving talking about the FWT. He had to know what it was about and what he was getting into, can't believe he thought he would just go win. The people on that tour are insane at what they do in the conditions they do it.
Nurse here, stem cells are the precursor to the production of red blood cells, white blood cells and other essential cells that can help aid in tissue development and repair. They increase the regeneration of healthy cells to replace diseased or damaged cells. Love the podcast guys, keep them coming!
This was sick. Def need a part two. Skier here listening to your podcast for the first time. Dig it.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yeah would love to see this convo keep going in a part 2. Nice work!
Tbh Sean Pettit is the skier/boarder you need to have on the show!
A lot of love to Tanner tho! Retallack one of the best powder videos of all time!

Tanner Hall made skiing look cool when it wasn't. For me, he was why I wouldn't change the channel.

It surprises me how often people forget Shane McConkey.
@dudeDOGn You just killed a piece of my soul.
@dudeDOGn Unless you're messing with me and you truly don't know I recommend you look him up. There's videos here on RUclips of him.
