Actually the land the gap is on is owned by Apta and will eventually be lift service. The space that makes the gap is 100 year old mine dump with a mine road between piles.
You have to put in a hundred man hours or so to build the kicker proper. I've not seen it set up right since about 2002 when chad was still doing it. It's only 80 feet from the edge where it gets built after snowboarders started trying .

I have been to Chad's Gap and still can't believe people do it.
The gap is only 80 feet where they built jump at edge of tailing. Chad built his booster in the middle of the mine dump on north side of road. I've measured it with a loggers 100 foot tape . I've never hot or, but my photo on another gap was used in powder mag article to discourage people from just thinking anyone can build and successfully make this jump. The one got printed of me was 96 foot gap with 15 foot step up and the article describes Tanner breaking his legs and the blood on landing from a life flight the week before his accident.
I only gave you a thumbs down- simply for the music choice/volume... bad editing. Regarding Chad's Gap... I'll stay on the Collins lift.

the position of the booster pad is only 80 feet from the take off to the landing. this is the short version that snow boarders started doing about 15 years ago because they could not actually make the 120 feet gap. Chad used to build the kicker at the north side of the mine tailing pad, these all have the kicker at the south lip of the mine dump. ive measured this with a 100 foot loggers tape. its 80 feet not 120. you show one guy over shoot the landing and he may have done 120. the rest are going 80 to 90 feet.
