I share your enthousiasm. I like this unit a lot. The only thing i'm missing is to dial in an exact BPM. Once you touch the Time knob (even after using TAP) it will go to msec. I hope NUX will continue to support this unit because a lot of guys out there would be thrilled if they only knew.
@chris- why do you need bpm? It’s all relative. 1 sec=1000 ms. 1 minute=60,000 ms. You can calculate in your head. Chart out ms to bpm conversion. Ex. 120 bpm = 300 ms. Divide 60000 by bpm to get ms if you really need that conversion. (60000/120bpm=500 ms) if you are that concerned, you should already know how to do the conversion.
Just discovered this pedal, i looove the idea of a multi effects but could never connect with digital overdrive or distortion. Have tried many different. This is literally the pedal chain I use minus a wah. Will have to try it!!
Excellent! Thank you a simple, no-nonsense/fake enthusiasm review. If I didn't have 2 other NU-X boxes I would jump on this. Wish I had known of it before purchasing :). Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Thanks for confirming / showing the MIDI send functions. I couldn't find this in any other video. What patch numbers get sent out via MIDI when the Cerberus changes patches? The Cerberus seems like a great option for pairing with my analog Tech 21 preamp (PSA 2.0). Seems like the lack of a noise gate at the beginning of the digital effects section (so your amp's drive would also be gated) was a big miss though. I'll probably have to put a separate noise gate pedal in there. The darkness / lack of treble in the sound with the IR direct to PC is because once you took your amp out of the chain, you're now not using any preamp. So if someone's main use for this pedal is direct then a preamp pedal in the place of where an amp would go in four-cable makes sense (Joyo American Sound, Sansamp etc.)
Very clear & concise review. I'm gigging with the NUX Amp academy & wanted an upgrade and the Cerberus ticks all the boxes as I'm going straight into a 2K P.A. without a guitar amp. Loved the review and bought the pedal 👍

Hi there! I have not tried those but they have a different layout. They are more like digital multi-FX pedals and the Cerberus is more like a conventional analog style pedalboard.
Great video! Have you experienced any tone suck when using 4 cable method with your amp? I used to have the Helix FX and my tone was very thin and compressed, even when bypassed. Not transparent at all, huge loss of dynamics. I got rid of it eventually.

What if... you don't use 4 CM and place a Plethora X5 in the Cerberus Fx loop and connect it via Midi (PC messages). This would definitely Super charge the Cerberus with Noise gate, Compressor, larger Tuner, Editor Bluetooth controled fx, large looper in the next Software update, all in programmable order, Hold function on all the X5 fx where the Cerberus is limited in such as Flanger, special delays, etc. Extra tip: put a Volume pedal in the fx loop before the X5 and kill only the guitar sound and not cut the reverb/delay trails off unnaturally. How about that!
That would be interesting but the Cerberus has enough time based effects for what I do and I have heard that the app can be confusing and it is still missing some firmware features. I would like the check the Plethora out but I feel that an al in one digital pedal would be better for me. I like the Cerberus for its simplicity. Hey Scott. Actually I think it sounds really good direct, despite not having an amp simulator! NUX just released a digital pedal that includes effects and amp simulations as well. That may be more suited to your needs.

Aaron Short Music Thanks, Aaron, for the Nux nudge! I checked out the new MG-300 on their website and it certainly looks like a killer unit, though the Cerberus has the kind of simplicity that I crave. I‘m done with menus and rabbit holes.
