We have a male Maltese and he is absolutely a joy to be around! He is super smart, affectionate, playful, listens and obeys even without any specific training, he just learned from our routine. That’s how intelligent they are! He doesn’t like to be left alone at home but when we are about to leave he grabs a shoe of ours and sits on the sofa with that until we are back ❤ The sweetest thing ever! 💝 he loves eating apples and carrots and even oranges! 💝 He is a just a joy! 💝💝💝
I have a maltese Belladonna, 3 years and she has taught me alot, everything you said is true, I love my fur baby. She knows who is boss 😂❤ she is a rescue from a breeding farm at 5 months. She was an absolutely mess, scared of everything , it took me along time for her to trust me.
I had my Prancer for 15 years. He loved to perform for others. He would have made a great TV dog, since my praise was all he needed to do tricks on command. He played the piano and sang and howled on command. He ran to the coo coo clock to look at the time, to see if it was time to go out to re-mark his territory. My family was convinced he could tell time... 😂 He did let me hug him, and then immediately ran to get a treat for enduring that hug.
Molly checked about all the dislikes you listed. She is extremely upset with loud unpleasant talking. She is a rescue and I feel she was abused. Molly goes every where with me and definitely a Mama's girl. She doesn't play much at all & I think this goes back to before I adopted her. Though she does have one toy she rubs on, I make sure it is only hers. I love her very much and love is returned from her with lots of kisses. Thank you for the video & education.
We're getting one today. I've never had a Maltese - our dog that recently died was a dachshund, and he was our baby for 13 years. This will be an adjustment for us, but I'm really hoping things will work out well.
Very well. He's my shadow, and only barks when he's left alone. He loves petting and cuddling, and homemade dog food (seems to turn his nose up at dry food).
We have a Morkie (half Yorki/half Maltese) who is 9. I see characteristics from both breeds in her. The one I see from what is written about Maltese is "lovable". Ours is a great little dog in every way.
@@kellilien1736 my sister raises Yorkies, and this little guy (we named him Little Buddy) was hers. She'd bought him thinking she would raise some Morkies, but I wanted him! LOL He is SUCH a loving little buddy.
My maltese is right on the money when it comes to the video. She is a lover and very addicted to me. If you ever want a dog to be with you alot then the Maltese is what you want. Mine follows me all day Long and sleeps next to me all night. She is my best friend.
Thanks for this info ! I have a 14 yr old Maltese and found everything on your list to be true . However, didn’t know the lingering sniffing during a walk was a trait . I’ve always been annoyed by this , and feel awful now that I know . I will be giving him all the time he needs from now on . Thank you !
My dog loves loves loves hugs, cuddles, kisses and eye gazing! It’s just they must be offered at an appropriate moment. Learn to vibe with your dog, they give you all the clues. Just like humans.
My little Daisy is 10 years old and has been my constant companion since I brought her home from a rescue 8 years ago. She ALWAYS has her eyes on me even if someone else is holding her ❤ I left her at home with my hubby and adult son, our other dog and her kitty to go to the beach for two days. Had to come home after ONE day though, because she refused to eat or drink while I wasn't there! Wow. Now, if I go somewhere, so does she 😂❤
I have a 9 year old Maltese with a stage 3 heart murmur. It’s difficult for her to get enough exercise as it affects her breathing. I love her so much I’d do anything in the world to be sure she’s happy and always feels safe
Aww what is the source of the heart murmur? I had a Maltese that had one but her life was prolonged with constant ultrasound checkups and pills for her condition
My maltese lets me hug him. He doesn't always like it and lets me know but when I need a hug he lets me and gives me kisses. The only one who he really doesn't mind hugging him nonstop is my mom. Heck shes the only one who can hold him like a baby when he whines to be picked up.
I love maltese ,they are very clever and sensitive. They ate sooo gemtle ,but dont like hands over them ,around their body ,bevause they ate affraid . Like people,ežehen xou dont know what somebody want with their hsmds toward you face , head snd body. But they sre the sweetest pets ever.❤ ❤❤❤😊
I think this also applies to Havanese. I had a Maltese for 14 years and he passed and now a Havanese and you would swear he was the same dog except for his colouring. His personality and demeanour is almost identical. Love the Maltese and love this guy.
Video is about Maltese, yet most of the white dogs in video are Havanese with the long snout. Maltese purebreds have black eyes, nose and lips which stand out against their very white silky hair. And they are smaller dogs, usually less than 10 pounds. My SweetPea was a maltese mix, the mom was purebred (& identical to SweetPea except color) and the dad was a combo of small breeds with brindle colors. Best dog ever, RIP SweetPea.
Where can I fine a puppy Shih Tzus / a breeder/ a petshop? I want one so bad I just don’t know where to find one-any ideas? I will spend everyday and night with my new pup
My Maltese hate trowel dry 😂 he loves bathe but only by me he gets very anxious if someone else gives him bath or groom so I usually do everything myself incase of need of professional groomer I have to stay with all the time. Otherwise he enjoys his walks and love to socialise with other people. ❤
The only thing my beloved maltese hated was carrots! If I gave her a soup that had tiny little pieces of carrot and in it she would pick them out one by one and deposit them far away from the dish before she would eat any of the soup. I found that strange because my friend had a dog who adored carrots and in fact use carrots a special treat to reward him
Aww haha that’s so funny. My Maltese would love carrots especially after I left my curry out one day and she loved the carrots in it. She does hate lettuce though! I used to give it to her as a joke and she always spit it out
My neighbors have one and leave him leashed to a picnic bench with nothing to do for 30+ minutes at a time. He barks his head off and is super annoying. Sometimes he doesn’t get to go out for days. They never walk him or play with him
No. They don't handle being left alone well. They're ok if you have a doctor appt. or run to the store, but more than that they will develop anxiety and can become destructive.
I love this video, but I don’t agree with the hug part my dog would actually hug me and like to cuddle into my neck and he would hug me and I would hold him like a baby and he would crave this every single day, Granted, I wasn’t over, bearing and putting on my arms around him. He was more so hugging me then I was hugging him, but he was obsessed. Rip 😢❤
Our little dog (now 9 years old) was never interested in her food as a puppy. Our son started feeding her by putting some kibble in his hand. She'd sit on his lap, and he'd feed her this way. My husband had to do the same. This went on FOR YEARS. If we put her food in her bowl, she never touched it. Finally, for a different reason, we bought some wet food (in a can) and put just a teaspoon or two, mixed in with her dry good. She started eating from her bowl and still does, to this day. She loves the wet food. Recently, my husband started putting a couple of teaspoons of water into her dry food and making a little "gravy" for her. She loved this also (and didn't need the wet food anymore). Sorry if I'm going overboard with this. Just want to help others with same problem. Our little dog has had a sensitive GI system over the years so we always have her on Royal Canin diets. Good luck.

Thank you very much. My Maltese,, Olive, is now 1 year old and I found this very helpful. It was a good renewal of do's and don't`s.
Glad it helped; thanks for watching!

My Maltese is 8 months old. Been trying to train him but he doesn’t listen I just got him 3 weeks ago. What should I do
Dogs are always interested in food. Use food to train him. Then when you have his attention begin your training and then reward him.
Take them for a walk after they use the bathroom

Touching of the head gets me a sniff of disapproval. That's for sure. Haha
When you have a Maltese it’s very important to learn to speak the Maltese language. Or like mine who taught me all 10 hates but u have to listen too

Maltese dogs do love hugs
My Maltese (Cairo), hates hugs
I dont have a dog but i'm getting one!! i have 3 cats tho, do you think he/she will like them?
