I have a five month old Maltese girl, Belle. She’s been a challenge as she only listens when she wants to. She terrorizes my 15 year old Yorkie and won’t leave her alone. But I wouldn’t trade Belle or give her away for anything. She’s my heart!!!!!
My 6 month old is a Royal pain in the butt - I may be too old for a puppy - but I just love him. He’s always making the biggest messes . And potty training seems to be as lifetime routine! Today he played in our bigger dogs water bowl and when I got up this morning it looked like the kitchen floor had been flooded! I keep thinking I need to sell him to a much younger person - for his sake and mine! But he’s so sweet and so loyal !
Love our Maltese, super smart and loving. Saved my wife's life shortly after we got him. She is diabetic and her numbers dropped dangerously low, he jumped up on her chest and pestered her and barked loudly to get my attention. Stayed with her until she was awake and stable. He actually communicated with me by tail wags when I ask him simple questions. GREAT DOGS.
I've had several different dogs 🐕 while growing up but my Maltese is far the best little girl I've ever had she's so loving and gentle she brings me the post every morning helps me take the washing out of the washing machine she's my little helper there is so many things she does it would take to long to write everything she's my little Angel 😇 and I love her with all my heart ❤️
I've owned and known so many dogs in my life but my Maltese was easily the silliest and smartest dog with the most personality I've ever had. She was a special one, died in August 2021 and I still look around for her to be underfoot and still think about things she would have done or liked. They can be demanding but I just love these guys.
they are awesume... my first one last me 17 years smartest dog i ever had, never needed a leash, docile, obedient and beautiful... now I have another 3 maltese all pretty crazy and as agile as cats, my house is a mess but i love it
My beautiful little girl Maltese demands my attention. And I love it. I really wish I'd met one earlier in my life. I love her unconditionally. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Just put both my boys down on 8 Dec. Got Bandit in 05 few months old Buddy was born in 07. Inside spoiled dogs all the way. They started getting lost outside and inside the house. Seems like they were getting Alzheimer’s . On the bed , on the couch , on your lap , under the covers they both had to be touching you . Never barked or tried to bite anyone. They lived side by side . Vet agreed to put them both at rest and did Bandit first cause a father should go before his son , buddy a min later. They really took the “ rage “ out of me after returning from Iraq. They just wanted to be loved. Best dogs I ever had. Lost my two little BF’s. I’m a Little emptier now and lost . Love ya boys
We have a 2 year old maltese and she does not like to cuddle. She loves petting attention etc but does not love to cuddle. We used to have toy poodles and they loved cuddles. She is also not good at greeting people when they come to the front door. Hoping over time she mellows out.
I agree with the comments the hug thing is hit or miss with the dog. My Maltese loves hugs and pats . My friends doesn't but the difference is his is owned by one person who is not affectionate.
I use to have a Maltese dog for 12 yrs. but unfortunately he died in heart attack last 5 mo. ago. It is really a heartbreaking moment when that time happened but I gave him the best dog experience in his dog life.
I had one for 14 years. I want another but a boy this time. I'm not ready right now. But what a bunch of cuties on this one. Thanks, they r so cute arn't they? Enjoy
I have four Maltese dogs and two who always run away. While the other two never run away and scared to be away from home. Also Maltese are super intelligent dogs
We rescued a now 11 year old Morkie when he was 1 year old. He was already house-trained and has subsequently trained us through his facial expressions. Really smart and loves to snuggle. Love him.
Good points! We have an 11 year old female Maltese, Molly! Still runs around like a puppy, but enjoys her nap time! She is adjusting to our grand children, finding safe zones to lay down.
Hugging - i don't agree. Our dog often puts his front paws on moms shoulder and his head also puts down on her shoulder, lays down on her chest and then does not mind cuddling - this is actually escape maneuver how to avoid brushing :-D
We had to have ours put down at 16, very traumatic. The vet thought he was a moodle but he was fairly solid and always weighed over 10 kgs - 22 lb. This left us confused as to his breeding. He displayed most of the 11 except aggression
We have had our Maltese for two years last February. Love him to death, he goes just about every where we go . He is God sent, our child as we are retired. . Can not imagine theses days without our young man Scoob
Our Maltese don’t like to have their feet dangling when being carried. Supporting their paws helps them feel secure while being carried. And it’s harder to breathe if all the weight is on the chest area
At 4 months old my Maltese completely ignores the the sound of vacuum cleaners and blower dryers... 😂he's the first dog I've ever had that won't flinch when I cut them on. And yes, his hearing is fine!
12 midnight. My Maltese can be standoffish and doesn’t always want a hug. She will come to me and touch my leg while I am on the couch wanting to be lifted up while she is perfectly capable of jumping up. She is so cute and I love her to bits…….
I have a maltose she barks at anyone who come into my house or whoever is in her sight my grandad was coming to bring me to school for three years and she still barks at him.whenever we come home she scrapes our legs and barks in happiness she hates being home alone.she loves going outside like every dog but most of the time she runs outside and starts barking at bjrds, cats and other things.she destroys the house but I love her soooooooo much.
my maltese literally used to put his head under my hand and DEMAND head pats, he absolutely loved getting crawled behind the ears by me, no idea where you got this idea they dont like it from.
Try coconut oil to prevent tics. I take a small amount on the back, right below her head. And she rarely has ticks. I check her and find maybe one that I remove. Southern Norway
Yes I have a beautiful Bechon Maltese whitw and we love everything about him. He stands up for me to hug him kiss him pet his head . He barks loud at anyone near the house.
we have a brother and sister maltese and what you have shown we have learned bella is boss and ratty tries to be boss but would not be with out them bruce in australia
My Maltese is so placid. He is nearly 5 now. He has never ever even growled at us. Gentle soul. He is very needy but we spoil him so much it is probably our fault
Hi. My little Olley is a 7 yr old Maltese/Shih Tzu cross, yet you have described him to a tee. He loves his morning walks, doesn't like change, but does love a cuddle in the evenings. 🐕🥰💞
I have a 2 1/2 yr old Maltese named Baylee she is 4 1/2 lbs. She has 2 Jack Russells that she plays and runs with daily. She is a good little Furbaby. But very spoiled to riding in the car.
My dog has no problem with me leaving but usually every day for a couple of hours. She looks forward to me leaving because I put a little peanut butter on the floor as I leave. She looks forward to me leaving so she can get her snack.
I have an 8 yrs old Malteas since July for companionship and she love to ride in her booster seat on the passenger side. She is very anti social with other dogs so I take her out 3 times a day at 1 hour each time so she can get some exercise. Other then if it is left up to her she will confind me to the recliner and sleep in my lap all day eat, and go to do her business outside.
I have two things I can disapprove so far First:Maltese dogs love cuddles Second:maltese dogs barely need any routine but be sure to walk them every week at least once but make them athletic if you want

Most is so true of my Maltese..but he pushs his head under my hand and when we go to bed he lays on my chest for a couple minutes until he is hugged before sleeping..The rest is so true..
This is bull 💩My Maltese show love and play to hugs and the vacuum. I feel sorry for the vacuum. She rides ton it. 🤷🏾♀️This is helpful to those dogs that act like your Maltese. All of them don’t feel this way.

We have a 4 year old Yorkie who she is constant competition with who never pees in the house. I had hoped she eoukd follow in his footsteps. Some people might think this is kinda harsh but my max i trained him by doing the old fashion shove his face in it not directly but just enough for them to get a whiff right after he went potty and gave him a couple soft spanks with a magazine and with a firm voice told him no! you do that outside would take him outside for a bit then i would bring him inside and that did the trick best dog we ever had he would wait for one of the family members to get off work which could be up to ten hrs depending but he would never go in the house unless he was sick or if somone forgot to walk him in the morning and if he did go inside they are so smart he would think he was in trouble but we would just tell him he was a good boy and give him love he hated getting dirty or dirty things which is so wierd to me i think because most dogs roll around in dirt but not him i think my moms clean freak habits rubbed off on him and it only took tbh few times to get him to learn to potty outside
My dog learned from following other dogs in the yard and puppy pads , it got better eventually and he is 10 and so perfect. Sometimes he’ll go inside at my parents house but that’s cuz there’s other dogs there (where he learned ironically) and he will mark his territory but at my house he’s potty trained with 3 walks per day. U just gotta take them out a lot.

Sorry for ur loss. Maltese is the most cute and smart breed 🐻❄️❤️
I had a Maltese dog too, and he died not long after yours, around November 2021. What special dogs Maltese puppies are.
My beautiful little girl Maltese demands my attention. And I love it.
I really wish I'd met one earlier in my life.
I love her unconditionally.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dude who even got these facts?? My Maltese literally makes me give her hugs all the time and she absolutely loves it!
But not strangers!
My dogs like strangers
I agree, I don't know who did this video, but my Maltese is not like those things. He's a lazy couch potato bum
We have a 2 year old maltese and she does not like to cuddle. She loves petting attention etc but does not love to cuddle. We used to have toy poodles and they loved cuddles. She is also not good at greeting people when they come to the front door. Hoping over time she mellows out.

They get used to you picking them up. It's become essential for my grandmother's dog when she gets tired on walks.
We rescued a now 11 year old Morkie when he was 1 year old. He was already house-trained and has subsequently trained us through his facial expressions.

B
malteses actually like to cuddle, I've had multiple malteses and they all loved being hugged/cuddled.
My maltese love hugs also ☺️
My Maltese would think 🤔 there was something wrong with me if I didn't hug her she loves a kiss and cuddle 😘
L
So true. They do like their routine. Thanks for affirming what I've said already.🐾👍
The routine thing is true. She knows when dad gets home, when it’s her dinner time and when it’s time for us to go to bed as she sleeps with us.
Absolutely correct...our 6 year old Maltese hates the sweeper...attacks it ! Your right about routines and sleep...all good points. 👍
My malti likes to be hugged and very smart, but no matter what would be, you can't stop him from barking ❤
We had to have ours put down at 16, very traumatic. The vet thought he was a moodle but he was fairly solid and always weighed over 10 kgs - 22 lb. This left us confused as to his breeding. He displayed most of the 11 except aggression

My puppy sits on top of me, holds me down and licks my face until I stop crying and crack up laughing. She’s obviously my service puppy dog😊❤
Whenever I cry, my Maltese knows even if another room and comes and jumps on my lap and licks off my tears.

My maltipoo’s name is Bentley. He is short tempered but he could be really sweet too. The cutest furry companion I ever had. I miss him🥲.
My maltipoos name is Bentley! He’s like that too, but such a sweet angel, I love him so much. He’s 10..
My Maltese is named Bentley too. He is 10 months old . His nick name is crazy. He’s so cute and lovable but he also has a temper. LOL
Thank you so much. We recently adopted a 6yo and we are learning by error… she is the best but does not like being woken up too early 😂

Our breeder held our 3 Maltese ages 2 and 5 while she vacuumed and they could care less
They don’t like being left alone yet we’re watching this and there alone rn

Agreed mt maktese whi is xtremely outgoing & friendly DOESN'T LIKE HUGGING - - he lifts his lips not too much but- --
My mom just feeds her too many snacks everytime she's home.
I have 5.
Not true my puppy initiate hugs and snuggles, not around her neck of course but she loves being hugged and cradled.
Patting their head? My malteese loves that
I have a Coton de Tulear but the personalities seem similar
So alot of this isnt true dogs have different personalities and you got to work around that but always establish your dominance or your dog will do what ever the heck it wants and will never listen training is quite simple but you have to do this once its a puppy otherwise its going to be hard to train them once they get older and establishing dominice doesnt mean hitting your dogs people never hit your animals they only time i suggest you give them a few love taps on the rear when potty training them with a magazine or newspaper never with your hand
