    Man I have to say I have struggled for YEARS to connect the dots. Steve, thank you so much, I have NEVER been able to find a teacher that makes it, well, not exactly EASY but at least as understandable as you. I love how you are able to bring things down to a level that makes me feel like maybe, just maybe, I am not the only one that is not getting it. Really, and truly, thanks.

    Fantastic lesson. Thanks for this. I am a typical 'bedroom' guitar player, who every so often ventures to a blues jam night in a bar and then plays the pentatonic to death because I don't know how to make it more interesting. But now I do. Thanks again Steve!

    The blues note and major third really add a lot to the minor pentatonic. These were crucial additions that have really helped me get more creative

    One of the things I like best about your tutorials is you go slowly so someone not so experienced can find the pattern you're teaching. For me, that is very helpful. Thanks, and beautiful guitar. It's got a great sound.

    Majoring the third, from minor to major. Fits blues or makes it fit over any minor or major jam.

    Professor Stine, Ive watched a ton of your stuff and love it all, I look forward to the vids you put out and they help a lot, more so now that I understand the core of scale theory which you partly helped out with. I was wondering if you could tell me what you use to achieve the tone you have in this vid. I have the fender super champ x2 amp that I use now and Garage Band on the mac, if you could help out I would be very grateful. ~One of your youtube students.

    Please Steve, could make a video explaining how to use the modes of a certain scale over the chords that come from it? I've read on some forums over the internet, that each mode belongs or can be played over a certain chord because of the intervals and the notes each of them share. For example: the C chord has a major third, a minor fifth and a major seventh, so bearing that in mind, you should see which of the modes of the C major scale has those same intervals and that's the mode that goes with that C major chord. That's what i read.
    You're a great teacher and it would be amazing that you'd explain that.
    Thanks for your lessons Steve!!!

    PRS! I have 3 SE's and LOVE them. All I really changed are the pickups. I really love the Duncan Hot Rodded set. Plenty of growl and if you turn the volume down they play pretty clean if you need that. The pots are pretty bad too but the guitars are really good. I did change the tuners on one and it stays in tune for like a week at a time depending on how hard I beat on it. I've played American PRS's and they do sound better but when you change the tuners and the electronics in an SE it's hard to tell the difference. At least I'm not good enough to see any difference! hehe Another GREAT vid Steve!

      AWitty PIlot i have a purple flake SE which sounds great. I do have some issues with tuning, but playing in bars ive sworn off expensive guitars since the headstock got broke on my les paul, the SE is perfect for those scenarios

    The note he's adding is the Maj 3 to the minor pentatonic.or the minor 3rd to the Maj pentatonic A 6 note scale. 1-b3-3-5-b7.. the blues note is the flat 5 of minor, or the B3 of Maj. Same difference

    Steve, now that some time has passed, how did that PRS hold up in your mind (in terms of its sound and how it feels in your hands, comfort.. playability.. Etc) as compared to your Ibanez's?

    • @stinemusiclessons
      @stinemusiclessons  5 лет назад +2

      Hey Henry!
      I really enjoy the PRS guitars for sure, but nothing will ever compare to my Ibanez guitars. I have been playing them since I was 17 and have molded my ability to play around them. But I love to play other guitars here and there to change things up.

    Is that C# a major third?

    • @AnthonyUFOLundell
      @AnthonyUFOLundell 6 лет назад +1

      Yes. He's adding the major 3 to the minor scale. Sometimes you want the 3rd minor, sometimes major. Same concept as combining both scales to make one,. You can achieve the same thing played off the same root A,. A mixolydian for Maj 3rd,. A Dorian when you want a flat 3rd. Combine both these major scales for a Bebop 8note scale. Basically Mixolydian WITH a flat 3rd. Cheers! 🎸
