I am a veteran paratrooper, with numerous injuries sustained from my service. I do not have health insurance, as I simply haven't been able to afford it for several years. the VA only treats people who were wounded in combat, so I'm left to the wind with pre-existing conditions that no one was willing to treat even when I had insurance.
you have given me peace of mind because I can simply muscle through the pain because I have impingement and likely tendonitis.
I've deep shoulder pain you're more than 30 years as a result, which has been manageable by keeping my shoulders strong. but for the last year or two, I haven't been able to find anything that works
while sleeping will still be quite a painful experience, I am delighted beyond words that I can enjoy doing the things I need to do and like to do without worrying if I will completely destroy my arm beyond any affordable repair.
    thank you so much

Both of you have done an excellent job by demonstrating where the shoulder pain is normally generated. In my case I'm 77 year old with arthritis and now I know the 80 percent is due to this decease. Some of the test you show I have mild pain others are not. Thanks for so explicit and informative video.

I got a positive result from the first test yesterday. My right elbow wouldn't go higher than my shoulder level. Then, I watched your shoulder impingement video and did the exercises and stretching. Today, I get both positive and negative results depending on my shoulder joint location. I see a huge improvement already. Thank you.

Very helpful! I had an actual thin small tear down my right bursa a few years back. It got better then my left shoulder started bothering me. That went away after a few months. THEN, right shoulder pain again, different spot. After 6 months or so I finally went to a specialist. They thought it was an impingement. Sent me to therapy. After about 2 or 3 sessions the activities started causing severe neck pain (I have a bulging disc on the right side). I had to stop. It still hurts a lot and I sleep on that side. I don’t know what to do since the therapy makes my neck hurt too much (and I’m not trying to get a disc replacement on my neck😳!) I took these tests -- my should hurt just from using it each time. Couldn’t do the partner ones yet but the most painful was the osteoarthritis one. And my shoulder pops each time I raise it. Can’t lift past 45 degrees or so without pain. Do you have a video on osteoarthritis? Still not sure it’s that but I’m over 50. I did have X-rays but she didn’t mention osteoarthritis.

Any exercises that would help? I also have a pain at times with bench press that also makes a sound like two items rubbing against each other. It keeps me in a light weight for bench and an on again and off again related to push ups? Any ideas?

@@toneandtighten based on your tests it seemed pretty clear that she is dealing with a rather nasty impingement along with maybe some associated Bursitis. She started last night with the door stretches and the back roller stretch and swears that today she is already feeling relief. So these exercises will definitely become part of her nightly activity for a while. Eventually I will be working her into some of the strength exercises but for now we are just going through the motions of performing those without any resistance. Seems like we are on the right path. BTW - I'm a 61 year old man - very active, do lots of pushups, band work, HIIT running, biking. I recently started getting horrible should pain during workouts that now seems to bother me at night and when I do that first test for shoulder impingement. I also have a VERY sore spot in the back of my shoulder blade that seems to be connected. Not knowing anything about this, I assumed I had possibly suffered a rotator cuff tear. But after doing your tests, it appears that I might have an impingement instead. Anyway, really thought this was an excellent video to explain this stuff. I'll try some of the exercises you suggested and see if I can get a handle on this - and of course will talk to my doctor if it persists. Been going on for over a month now. Old ain't for babies, man. LOL! Thanks again for your help and info.

Hi there, great video. I have a sharp pain in my shoulder and on the back of the shoulder. I also have pain when I lift my head up, and then all my shoulder and arm just get Nam, if I put my head down for 3 seconds then all is ok, but the shoulder and arm and back of shoulder is in pain, a sharp pain. The pain pint I fill is in the elbow+arm+shoulder+back of shoulder+neck. I did all your tests as you showed, I still not sure what is the source of the pain, the central cause of the pain. I did a X-Ray test and a C.T. test and they found that in my spine C5-C7 the gap is very low, but the did not think that that is the cause of the pain.

This was SO super helpful! Thank you! I find that the older I get (early 50s), the more some joints begin to creak or give me some issue. I am a follower! PS: I assume she is your wife; it not, she should be! Your chemistry is cute together. : )

Both the rotator cuff tendinitis and rotator cuff tear (couldn’t move right palm very high nor off the back at all) were positive. Is this positive for tear or could RC tendinitis cause both of these to be positive? Thanks! Your video was the most helpful one I’ve found. Also I’m assuming I need to see an orthopedist and that there aren’t exercises that will help this? I fell over my dog who followed me and laid down behind me and I fell when I turned to walk away in that direction. Right arm reached forward to catch myself falling onto concrete trying to miss the dog.

Enjoyable and informative however I can’t seem to find any cause for my pain with presents mainly in the middle to rear of my deltoid as well as in the scapula area when I reach behind the car seat. I’m hoping it’s lingering pain from deltoid flys with dumbbells, which I’ve stopped doing.

I’ve watched a lot of videos trying to figure out what’s wrong with my shoulder. I’ve gone to a chiropractor too! Your video was so informative. I did all of the tests and just as I suspected, my problem likely pertains to my rotator cuff. 😢 However, it also looks like I have an issue with instability as well. I guess that makes sense though since I’ve been dealing with this for quite awhile so there’s probably some atrophy going on. Grrr.

Thanks for the information. Several test, such as impingement & rotator cuff, give me positive test pain. The pain i am experiencing is not in the shoulder, but in the back of the arm between my shoulder & elbow. Would this still be a rotator cuff issue?

Thanks, it seems like the AC joint test somewhat hit on my issue but another position that bothers me the most is if I bring my right elbow above my head with my right hand on my left shoulder and then I grab my right elbow with my left hand and rotate my upper arm in the shoulder socket towards the front of the body - this causes me the most discomfort. All of this is on a lower discomfort level but I worry when ever I start to have any irritation. Years ago I separated my shoulder - I wonder if this could be part of the issue? I would be beyond thankful for any information but am grateful that you take the time to produce such an informative video - I seem to not really have major issues with any of the tests yet the ac one and the one following it tend to reproduce the most discomfort - also push-ups are starting to bug me a little and I have been using the form suggested in becoming a supple leopard for a few years now - thanks again! I love this stuff and just subscribed!

Thanks! I have a better idea what’s going on now. I don’t like going to the dr and they don’t explain anything. Makes me feel like I’m not even part of the healing and it’s my body they’re making money off of. You explain things very well! When I went to dr after falling on shoulder yesterday I literally sat for 2hrs waiting to be seen. He finally sows up in room moves my arm til I’m ready to scream but says nothing as to his opinion. Just shoots me full of cortisone and he’s out of there. No further instructions except 5 weeks come back! Very rude. I so much wanted to tell him I’ll show up on time if you do??!!
Again thank you, I feel like a invalid at this time but I am hoping for some support by using your videos once I can move at all. 😊

Thanks a lot. For someone who weight trains regularly, is it common to have multiple injuries in the same shoulder? Testing yes for impingement, tendonitis, AC, and slap (maybe even instability).

My shoulder was partially out of place and I got it put back into place by the same therapist who noticed it but it’s been paining everyday and going numb when I use my hand to do a few things, I obviously still need to use my hand to get stuff done, how long does it usually take to heal?

I'm late to the party, but what if there are multiple test which produced the pain? Impingement, rotator cuff tear, and AC joint were the ones which produced the pain the most. Just having done all these movement my shoulder now is throbbing.

I ride a motorcycle and wear a backpack with 60-70 lbs. This is how my shoulders started bothering me and now they are popping, and I have to straighten them out for relief of pain when lying down. Overhead.
