Thank you , thank you, thank you for taking the time to teach us about using metallic thread. I started a project for my pastor over 3 years ago not knowing how difficult it would be to embroider with. You are the first person to clearly explain why the thread breaks and how to resolve the problem. I tried your method and it has worked beautifully. The one other thing that I think helped a lot was using a top stitch needle and slowing down the speed of the machine. I have a Bernina machine and went back to the dealer to consult with them as to what to do and they couldn't help me. Again thank you. I've completed several projects now and they came out great.
Thank you,Eve, for taking the time to not only tell us your tips but to Show us the hows & why's!! I know this post is 4 yrs old but I just found it today. It is the best tutorial out there on this 'Scary' subject ‼️ Now I'm off to my craft room to start practicing 💖
quilters use a thread director that you effectively just made with the serger stand. I am so glad I found your channel. Received and embroidery machine for Christmas...doing my research, learning my new craft lol. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge
Wow! Every one of the mistakes you mentioned is so true, and I think I made everyone and more. One thing you didn't mention was speed and time involved. When I was looking for an embroidery machine and saw 400 stitched/minute, I had visions of flying through designs. Not when the design has 25,000 stitches and 21 thread changes. Time is a real factor to have to charge for, and I found it difficult to be able to charge appropriately for the time it took. Even the expensive machines don't change thread, so it isn't something you can leave for even a minute. I tried and returned to a horrible thread jam. Thanks for the wonderful videos. I look forward to more.
Been watching your videos the last few days, as I just had come across the first video. Wow learning lots from you and been sewing for years and been machine embroidering for a year now thanks!! - now off to watch another video of yours as i sit with a cup of coffee before I do some more embroidering !
I found you by chance and I am so happy as your video is so informative and you have a way of making the info so clear. It is a joy to listen to you and I also have a Brother embroidery, actually have 2 sewing/embroidery machines. Thank you so much for scientific approach of metallic thread that was really interesting. Have a great fun life! Hoping you put out more video's as I subscribed.
I love your video ..... you make me smile and giggle in each one I have watched ..... is there a reason why you use the letter l to test it .... I have a 2800D and there is a cover so I am going to have to look around to see how other 2809D users position it .... have a wonderful week and a peaceful summer.....
Shannon Margaret Hi! Thanks for tuning in and sending a question. I use the letter I because it is a simple column of satin stitches. it will clearly show if the tension is off. You could use anything, but it doesn't take but a moment to stitch out a quick stick. 😄 I try to have fun with everything I do. I appreciate knowing you enjoyed the videos! 😊
Hi Eve, Love your videos. I just recently got my first machine and am learning as much as I can. I have read so many warnings about using glitter and/or metallic thread. Many blogs say that it can cause problems with the specks of metal getting into your machine and 'gumming up the works' requiring it to be cleaned and maintained more often. Have you found this to be true? Thanks again!
I have this same embroidery machine haven't played with a lot, your videos give be the inspiration to try some ideas. I would love to see a video on how to upload embroidery fonts to the machine .
Eve, I love your videos! I only recently discovered your you tube channel and I’m totally addicted. And, I just watched a dollar tree video you did and you’re in my area! One day our paths will cross, hopefully. Wishing you continued success in all your endeavors. Thank you.
Hi Eve, can i please ask what font you used for the nane Leah? it is so pretty. also, have you got a favourite embroidery design store you purchase from? thank you 😊
I used a font called "Andalusia" from off of a website called Designs by Juju. I would put a link directly to the font here, but RUclips doesn't allow links in comments. Also, Yes I do have Stitchtopia, jolsons designs, Designs by Juju, as well as Applique Corner for my fonts! Thank you very much for watching our video and for your question! 👍🤗
Nice video as always, will give a go in future, could I ask did you used before polycotton fabric, im struggle with, and can't find what exactly needle and stabiliser should I use?
I just ran across your video's & I'm thankful for your explanation of the metallic threads! I don't have a Brother embroidery machine but I have a Singer Futura XL400. I've never seen a video showing how to use metallic thread anywhere on RUclips & I've looked. I bought some a while back & have wanted to learn how to use it. I never knew what needle to use with it because I knew the thread was thicker. Plus, I have NO idea where to get one from or if I even need to actually get a special needle at all. Any suggestions of where to look & could you tell me what size would be best if you recommend buying special needles? Thanks again for doing this video!! :)
I posted a link in the description of the video for an Amazon link to metallic thread needles. I can't post links in the comments section, however be sure to look for the needles that fit your machine size 90/14.
However, I do not use a different needle on my machine. I still use the basic sharp 75/11 needle! If you choose the larger needle, the link is in the description. It says the eye of the needle is larger to allow free movement of the metallic thread thru the eye.
Ok thanks for anwser There have school To studie how to make design and dembroiderie work by the computer machine I want to start for computer working but i dont now anything this machine Now i use sewing machine to make embroiderie by hand design ,i have small shop for embroiderie
Barbara Zekus Hi! Thanks for the awesome question! I do not slow my machine down for metallic thread. From what I understand, I am unable to slow down the Brother PE500 nor the Brother SE/400.
Ms Tina... you have stumped me! I have no clue what a thread cassette is! I am only 3 years into embroidery and that isn't something I've come across! I'll check with some "long timers" to see if they have an answer for you. 👍🏽
The Baby's Booty it’s for the brother Se270d it was given to me and this is the first for me. I hand embroider and am learning my way around machine embroidery! I can honestly self teaching myself to crochet was a piece of cake compared to this! But I love it and am hooked! And your videos are amazing and have helped a lot so thank you!
What is the brand name of the first list card you showed out in the sun? I'd love to try them. They have more of a variety of gold etc. threads than I've ever seen. I love working with metallic threads, and even 100% metal threads!
Embellishments on many different things! You can use it for putting names on hats, or shirts, or just about anything! I haven't tried it with Free Standing Lace, but that doesn't mean that you can't... I just haven't tried it yet. LOL!
I keep reading how hard it is to work with....but, I have found ways to work ok with some difficult metallics, a couple not so well. You said this was your favorite, so I'm guessing it must not be all that terrible on Brother machines? Sorry for all the questions....
It isn't terrible to work with. If it does give you issues, lessen the top tension setting. I dont use an metallic thread needle, but they are available and many say it makes embroidery with specialty thread easier.
Good morning i want To start the broderie business i have To much question for you If you speak french beacause my english is not good, i understand small small Please i think you can help me
The whole time you're showing the color chart I'm wondering what brand of thread it is and hoping that you'll say, then at the very end you say Madeira. That should have been mentioned first when showing the sample chart.
You let us know the brand name and I don’t think it’s an issue that it was towards the end of showing us the colour chart, the important thing is that you did where some people don’t mention things like that. Plus, you listed it with a link in the description box which is super helpful, thanks for a great video!
if you can teach us the work we can pay for a training at least a month, we can very quickly understand and come to beat the competition. I would like to have evolved my domain.thank you
Thread companies are more focused on metallic threads than glitter threads. Glitter threads seem to be slowly going away. My favorite glitter thread is sold by Gunold.com. Both metallic and glitter take patience to use.
Now I know the thread stand isn't enough. Put it high up and behind the machine. 👍🏻 You're awesome. Thank you!!!
I love the visual aids you gave to explain the difference!!!!! That was fantastic!
Thank you kindly! 🤗
You really went the extra mile explaining whats going on with the thread. I appreciate it. Great video! :D
Have you ever taught elementary school...you have such a gift for delivering instruction!!!
awwww! Thank you! No I have not, but I have instructed elderly and I LOVE it!

Sherry Kraus It can get gummed up, especially the cheaper metallic threads.
Thanks for sharing this trick 💖 I enjoy watching your videos.
You're welcome! Thank you so much for tuning in!

Nice video as always, will give a go in future, could I ask did you used before polycotton fabric, im struggle with, and can't find what exactly needle and stabiliser should I use?
Polycotton sounds like a stretchy material. If it stretches, you should use a ballpoint needle and cutaway stabilizer.
Thanks for the tip!👍
You're welcome! Thank you for watching our videos!
Hey hi thank you so much, I was wondering what type of bobbin thread can be used pleaseeeee
Regular embroidery bobbin thread
What size needle did u use. Congrats on New House
I just ran across your video's & I'm thankful for your explanation of the metallic threads! I don't have a Brother embroidery machine but I have a Singer Futura XL400. I wish it came on cones, I love glitter thread!
Some manufacturers do offer a glitter thread on cones. Madeira is one example!
@@TheBabysBooty - thank you, I’ll look into ordering some!
Do you use the same thread on the bobbin as well?
The only time I use the same thread in the bobbin is if I am doing freestanding lace projects. Otherwise I use either black or white bobbin thread.
Great video!
Thanks! I appreciate you tuning in!
+Kirstie Green Thank you very much! 😊
Ok thanks for anwser
There have school To studie how to make design and dembroiderie work by the computer machine
I want to start for computer working but i dont now anything this machine
Now i use sewing machine to make embroiderie by hand design ,i have small shop for embroiderie

+sharon blake ☺ Thank you!
Great video. Did you use a regular needle?
I used a regular 75/11 Sharp needle! Awesome question! Thank you!
I went to the site linked for knock down square. How do I get blank squares to add my own designs to it?
Victoria Williams they have knock down designs available for purchase. Just select the square design and embroider that prior to your design.
What about the bobbin? can you use the same glitter thread as bobbin or stick to the white bobbin?
white
Thanks for the video, do you slow the speed of your machine down for metallic thread?
Barbara Zekus Hi! Thanks for the awesome question! I do not slow my machine down for metallic thread. From what I understand, I am unable to slow down the Brother PE500 nor the Brother SE/400.

Do you ever need to change to a metallic needle?
Hope White No. I used the same 75/11 sharp as I did for the rest of the design.
What is the brand name of the first list card you showed out in the sun? I'd love to try them. They have more of a variety of gold etc. threads than I've ever seen. I love working with metallic threads, and even 100% metal threads!
She says that it’s Madeira, it’s printed on the card and she’s put a link to it on Amazon in the description box 😊
Do you have to change the needle to a small size?
HI, have you used Madeira Supertwist for fsl?
No I haven't. Not yet. 😊
I'm being offered some for a great price....what do you use it for? I have both the same machines as you. :-)
Embellishments on many different things! You can use it for putting names on hats, or shirts, or just about anything! I haven't tried it with Free Standing Lace, but that doesn't mean that you can't... I just haven't tried it yet. LOL!

angela marshall I'm sure you could, but I don't hand embroider so I can't positively answer that question. 🤔 Thanks for the question! ❤
What caused the machine to jump while stitching?
Good morning i want To start the broderie business i have To much question for you
If you speak french beacause my english is not good, i understand small small
Please i think you can help me
I don't speak french... i apologize!
Did you go to a larger needle?
+Marge Campbell No I didn't.
Great now I have to spend more money on thread! Hahaha
You and me both!
The whole time you're showing the color chart I'm wondering what brand of thread it is and hoping that you'll say, then at the very end you say Madeira. That should have been mentioned first when showing the sample chart.

That are NOT the same. Thank you
Glitter and metallic are certainly not the same, but they both require a bit more attention than basic thread.
That's metallic thread. Glitter thread is so different. Two different threads for ppl to choose from.
Thread companies are more focused on metallic threads than glitter threads. Glitter threads seem to be slowly going away. My favorite glitter thread is sold by Gunold.com. Both metallic and glitter take patience to use.
