Whole host of mods that I never heard about before you doing them, bro! My road map for my car has drastically changed after seeing all the driver mods! 🙌 Ouuuuuuuuu
If you do need to disconnect the steering shaft from the steering rack, before you disconnect turn the steering wheel to where it locks. If the steering wheel turns and you don't turn it back the way it was it could cause problems. Steering angle sensor will go batsh!t crazy. If you remove the steering wheel and the shaft moves, the clock spring could break, which runs all your steering wheel controls and airbag. Not a good day. Any way, great simple mod. Definitely adding it to my list.
Nice work good info , you can really change the feel of you're car with steering rack mods , love the RA rack in my bugeye it's like a go cart , two turns to lock ! Keep them coming !
@@Smeedia I think you're rack is two and a half lock to lock but I'm not certain , could be faster . The 2015 has a fast rack but I think it's still two and a half or more ! Some of the spec c had one and three quarters lock to lock ! The bugeye comes with a 2 turn to lock rack but mine was damaged ! Q racks were the best but can't get them any more !
"no need for power steerling fluid" my bugeye needing it... but it leaking it all instantly on the ground anyway 😂😂 but well done dropping the nut less than 100 times 😉😉
Great video, so glad you cooled down music between you working and us watching. We all love music but I hate having my Bass on full and sitting with my thunb on the mute button every car video I watch lol. 💯👌👌%%. Keep safe everyone 🤘🤘
looking forward to the video where u pull the manifold. my Subaru shop may close cuz of the pandemic and I will need to install the majority of the mods myself.
Is it possible to do anything on a Honda Ridgeline? The sport mode is almost OK but the "normal" is extremely numb to the point tha makes me dizzy. Either the mechanical aspect or the software I hope something can be done.
We're a subie fam here too, my wife has a 19 outback limited and I have a 19 wrx limited. Ever do any mods for your lady's car? Lol my wife tells me to stay away.
@@Smeedia the mounting points are different. The 2015 wrx bolts go vertically vs horizontally like in the brz in your video. I wish it was that easy lol.
Awesome vid! Keep it coming...i just subscribed. Im building my FRS/BRZ/86..what ever they call it. Im a subienation for life member. Are you ever going to do a vid on cylinder heads. Ive spent a year working on my suspension and drivetrain. Im moving over, to making power...i look forward to seeing your vid
Appreciate the support! I need to do a little more suspension mods and chassis bracing then we will be tackling the engine stuff. Doing spark plugs this weekend which km not looking forward to 🙃 trying to juggle building the BRZ and the STI Equally 😅
@@Smeedia sweet! I also have an STI 2004...i cant wait to see all your vids. Have you taken a look at Revo Technica? I used them as an affordable source for braces. Do you have any recommendations on a final drive?
Sometimes it's nice, personally I like to have to work for it a little when turning or making corrections. The only thing I dislike about the light feel is when the road starts to lull you around.
@@Smeedia I thought I did something wrong at first. But that transmission whine is glorious tho. Hahaha. Gonna do the rear shift bushing and I have the mtech springs to go in next.
They have no lock downs or bushings for the steering rack?! I would swing through Whiteland website, they might have some goodies for the mustang. I Google a picture of the rack and looks like there's 1 bushing in it that could be swapped for Stiffer/heavier one , someone out there has to make one 😅
I was wondering if they have something like this for Forester SK have not found or if there’s compatibility from another car/year? All I’m finding is steering Dampner from Perrin also was wondering if anything you do on your whips can be done on SK if you could mention that if your aware of the compatibility obviously ... Jus wanna say your epic bro so informative and Sick vibes but my SK shits on your STI I’m getting 32MPG lol I’m just joking around you know that clown on your live Steam today🤣😂😂😂🤪🤙🏾🤙🏾 your STI 🤑🤤🤩
Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that dude came kurta left field lmao I think the lockdown damper is the only thing, you might be able to use bushing inserts from a WRX Steering rack, pretty sure they're the same ones 🤔 for future videos I'll incorperste in some forester comparability also 😁
Smeedia Ok sweet sounds good I’ll check on those bushings and guess if it’s the same get that steering rack bracket they have, I’m all about the driver feed back upgrades I drive minimal 60 miles a day and I surf a lot so that can double at timez. I’m looking for a 2020 WRX/STI seat want to swap my drivers seat need more comfort in case you know of anyone tossin that out🤷🏽♂️ 👆🏽Same guy at the car meeting always telling you his friends car faster😂😂😂🤦🏽
Less side to side play in the steering rack. The stiffer bushing inserts done allow nearly as much play in the bushings. The lock downs also have a recessed chamber that the washer sits in and the set screws further allow it from move. Less play in the steering rack gives a firmer feel in the steering wheel. While it won't be a Massive increase it is definitely noticable
Have yall ever had any subie check engine light pop up then disappears really quick. I feel really disappointed plus it's a 2020 I feel like it should of never had any problems bummer :(
Okay so I had a brz and I recently switched to a 13 sti. I hate how light the steering is compared to the brz. Any suggestions on how to get a heavier/stiffer brz like feel out of the sti which uses the traditional fluid driven rack.
@@Smeediaso my 21 STI feels floaty at high speeds specially in the highway, would the parts listed on your reply make my steering feel responsive and not floaty?

Will just changing the bushings without the lockdown increase steering feel without the increase steering weight?

Are there aftermarket parts to do this on hydraulic steering?
Most companies make some type depending on what the make of the car is 🙏
Steering shaft? I didnt know I was suppose to that as well. I only did the perrin lockdown. I honestly dont feel much from it.
Sojt need to remove it for just the lockdown 😁 with the bushings and lock down I notice a difference with them on

No squeaking or anything on mine. 🤔

Yes, all racks should have some type of bushing I them to help with feel. Swapping tk stuffer bushings should help
