Stephen Graham is a great actor! Especially, in "This is England"
He was so good in it that he struggled finding work for a while afterwords because producers actually thought he was a racist

Check out Boiling Point
@@esock2001 Geez, I was just gonna mention that movie. I've started watching it by pure coincidence and ended up with my jaw right down to the floor.
Can't believe he was Tommy in Snatch lol. Man's had a FAR more respectable career trajectory than Jason Statham imo
What's fucking amazing with absolutely everyone commenting on how bad the Shopkeeper scene is, is how EASY it would be to have fixed that scene in fucking minutes, and with so much less effort (not that the final cut even managed correct foley timing, let alone the stiff, physical performance). Especially for a guy like Scorsese and the amount of money that went into this picture.
It could have been better as well, even by design to have the camera focus on his daughter when he says "Wait here", slowly zoom in on her and her face slowly turn as it's left to the audiences imagination as to everything happening in the background. The muffled argument behind closed doors; the sudden shattering of said doors; the screams of pain; the kicks; the silence that follows repeated kicks. To close out, Frank takes his daughter's hand as they walk off and the camera pans slowly to the aftermath.
I'm no cinematographer or film critic by any stretch, but i'd worked this out the moment I finished laughing at it.

you know like we been doing since forever in movies xD
That shit every time i saw it make me laugh so hard.
I mean Scorsese did it for Goodfellas but I guess the vanity of these actors did not want anyone else but them to portray their younger selves.
They coulda gotten Josh Robert Thompson to do it, he looks just like him and does a great impression.

The worst part about the CGI was the eyes, they didn't fix those and you can't tell if the characters are 30 or 56 years old.
Also, what parts of the movie was Dinero NOT in CGI? That's a fun game to play while you watch it.
All in all, I think it was an epic movie worthy of it's detailed story. And it proves that we don't have the technology to make a 70 year old look like he's in his 20s.

Do black people actually watch Scorcese mob films? It works both ways, no white person has EVER watched Paid in Full
@@pozloadescobar I was gonna say "Of course we do why wouldn't we?" But then you mentioned _Paid in Full_ I had to pause for a second. Most White people have never watched Black gangsta films. But almost all black people have watched Godfather I,II,III Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, Carlito's Way, King of New York, Sopranos, A Bronx Take, Scarface, etc. We watched so much, in the 90s, rappers modeled their entire persona around gangsta films.
But if I ask a White person if they ever watched Menace2Society, Boyz N the Hood, New Jack City etc. They are like nope. I get it. It's not your thing. But White movies are the majority of films we see. I got no problem with that. Modern Black cinema is garbage.

The age rendering thing killed it
to me it was just the scene where supposedly young DeNiro beats a guy up but is still clearly moving around like an 80 year old
@@RatatRatR yeah I didn’t notice the deaging much tbh
Like... ok, there probably are some scenes where DeNiro and Pesci are supposed to look 20 or 30 years younger than they do. And they're right about how arthritic and old DeNiro's movements look. But it's worth it, those guys are legends. I wouldn't want most of the movie to be some other guys playing their parts. And DeNiro does still put in some great acting, like when he calls Hoffa's widow to console her.
The original idea when the film was first conceived in the early-mid 2000’s was to have Daniel Day-Lewis play young Frank.

The whole fucking thing is stupid anyway, Russell Bufalino grew up going back and forth between PA and Sicily in the 1900s/10s, there's a roughly 0% chance he ever learned to speak Standard Italian. They shoehorned that imaginary scene in there for no reason.
