Motocross Action Magazine tests the 2023 Suzuki RMZ250 at Glen Helen Raceway. The RMZ is unchanged for 2023 but we know a lot about this motorcycle from the past couple years of riding it. It is the slowest bike in the class and still has a kickstart but its also the most affordable bike in the class. Do you really need a fire breather? Do you need the electric start? We go over all the details of the Suzuki RMZ250 in this video and explain why this bike might be just right for you. Our resident Suzuki test rider Brian Medeiros talks about racing the RMZ250 this summer at Pro Motocross and some of the small changes he made.

Suzuki needs to bring back the RM125, if they kept the price low they would sell like crazy
Exactly, someone else gets it.
yes !!today i ride my rm 125 ,2008 pro speed at hard pack track soo much fun
For real. They are one of the best looking bikes. I hope they make some magic in 2024 cause My first 4 stroke will probably be a new rmz250
RMZ army!
Yep! Would be record sales for Susucki
No changes, but its cheap fun! And for most of us weekend warriors this bike is perfectly good enough 🤙
Sold out & full msrp out here in Upper Midwest.
Funny you say this because I’m 38 and just now looking into getting into MX as a weekend hobby. Was getting a little discouraged because of prices and then I found this gem! This would be way more than enough for me and I’d have some $$$ to throw on some aftermarket mods!
@@brentbandy3566 suspension set and an exhaust and you’ll be dialed
It has higher performance than 99% of people could use to its full potential
RMZ has a finicky chassis that makes it hard to hold on to at the end of the day; on a rough track it makes you slow down significantly. I'm no specialist, but I've had my suspension done, and the bike was still way too harsh for me to want to push it. It's. only good on a prepped track.
best looking bike and good enough for 99% out there
The bike is more than capable. Plus a lot of people don't know it uses SSS forks but they just have an astronomical spring rate in them. A good revalve and you have the same forks as a YZ. A piston, ported head, and full exhaust go a long way for these bikes too. I love my RMZ personally as it does everything i need it to do.
Back in the late '70s early '80's, it was Kawasaki that was the one you hardly saw at the track. Yellow and red dominated. RMs, YZs and CRs were 22 of the 25 rider gate, with maybe a Maico or KX thrown in depending on the class. KTMs and Huskys were something that we heard about in MA or cycle news, but rarely did we see one at Indian Dunes..... When the O Show showed up on his Mugen, oh baby, that was a great Sunday. This bike sounds perfect for the weekend rider, especially if better durability comes with the less HP.
i hope this brand will dominate again.
Suzuki would sell motocross bikes like they’re going out of style if they bring back the RM 125 RM 250 two strokes are on the rise again
They never talked about the yoshi pipe that you get for free with the bike this year. That should have been talked about and how it will help over stock
Don’t understand why they wouldn’t teat it with the free pipe you get 🤦🏽♂️
well that's a limited promotion. It's a pipe and graphics. Yes it will help in some areas but not gonna change the overall bike and suspension. The pipe and graphics are mailed to you after purchase.
Really good seeing Suzuki RM z250 bike like yeah slower but fun guys thanks for test class 👍🇬🇧💯
Currently have a gas gas 450 but just sold my rmz250, it was a great bike. Just like Brian said super predictable and an amazing bike for someone who just wants to have fun and go fast
Wich bike do you prefer ? I have already a 450 sxf and i wanna try the rmz 250 but im confused
@@stevemx2778 if you're a faster guy and already used to the ktm then you're probably going to find the suzuki really lacking in the engine department
@@MrSuperflydude i was thinking about that, the fact i ride only Sandy/soft tracks wich with a 250 f you are always wfo, but these rmz a so cheap but i think i should stick with my ktm 450
@@stevemx2778 for sandy stuff you should consider a 2 stroke 🤘
This helped a lot. I am looking at a Suzuki as a both track and trails bike. It’s got the down low torque that I like for trails. Kickstart is there but I never mind some kicking, it’s the brand I love, and it’s a got those fuel injectors with the stuff frame.
I got a 22 rmz250 literally my favorite bike I’ve ever owned and I’ve went through too many bikes it was the first 4 stroke I ever enjoyed I had a 19 kx250f hated it it was awful went back to 2 strokes blew up my rm250 so I went and got the rmz and my god I love the bike it’s so much fun
Oh btw I did have to change spring rates in the forks and shock it needed that but since then I’ve loved it but u need to change the spring rates
@@RMZ2fiddy333 question how do you change spring rates? i’m considering getting the rmz cause it’s price and i kinda like kickstarter lol. do you just take forks or the bike to shop and ask for something?
@@AR-fe4jj find someone who sets up race suspension and get them to sort your suspension out for your weight, motocross suspension of course lol
Beautiful bike, I really enjoy my 2018 Suzuki RMZ250.
I had a RM125 2000 model back in 2000 it was a great bike race tuned had hardly been used man I miss that baby
I learned to ride on a 2013 rmz250. Rmz will always be my favorite 4 stroke
I’ve got an RM132 and I’ll keep it for life.
I’m 100% buying an RMZ250 next year. Hopefully they update it
I had a 03 rm134. Never should have sold it.
@@haussman242 I sold my bikes once and I always have this feeling of regret about it so Ive made a pact with myself to stop selling my bikes and to just be patient while saving.
Is that telegram prize a real thing or is it a scammer?
Sweet bike, torquey motor and already sprung for vets {belly boys}, lol!!! I think they look great. They should offer a model as an RMX, handguards, o-ring chain, S/A, skid plate
Beautiful looking bike!
Every time I walk through the clearance aisle I’m tempted to scoop one of these up. I’m never gonna be a AA rider, I’m not even that interested in racing anyway. Anyone who shares a riding style similar to mine should respect this bike for what it’s worth
RMZ best mx bike
Does anyone realize that the shocks are adjustable? I love my zuki!!!!!
Love Suzuki, had two 2008's at different times, coolest looking bike out there 😁👍
Absolutely.
Best value out there. Snagged my 22 rmz450 for less than 8k otd! She's a beast and rips ass!
Great comments. Predictability is about as important as anything
Great value for 90% of riders that won’t win races anyway
Really?
GAYTM rider?
Sounds like this thing, with lighter springs, would be a great woods bike because of its bottom end linear power delivery.
You have no idea! I’ve had mine resprung and revalved. Put a ECU and a pipe on this and it is a MONSTER in the woods. And you could even take it to the track and bomb some massive jumps with it. It’s a very underestimated bike. Had a friend ride it who races 450s and he said it scared the shit out of him on certain spots of the track with how the front wheel wouldn’t stay on the ground.
@@jacobpressley4449slapped some bark busters and a endurance fuel tank on my 2012 250rmz you would think it was built bolt to bolt for the woods
I would buy a rmz250. The price is rite there and it looks dam good
Suzuki is amazing ride yellow 💛💛💛
I have a 2015 rmz450 w maybe 2.8-3k max work into it and it's not even close compared to a 2015-2018 ktm 450 it blows the ktm out of the water. I think if you're good enough to actually ride it's full potential on different 450s then after market performance is what's going to make the difference
Best looking stock 250f
I liked the rmz....but it is the only modern mx bike ive ridden so I don't think i can really say too much xD
Kick starter isn’t a drawback. Wish the rest of the models would bring them back. Have both a kick, and electric so you can kick if you want, or if your electric starter goes out (and it eventually will) you have a backup, so you can still get back to the truck. I’m looking at getting a bike, and I’m either getting a 2T, or a Suzuki solely for the fact that those are the only bikes that still have a kick start.
The electric start works absolutely fine and I see no flaw with it. I’ve only driven honda and i never had a problem with it since they brought it to their bikes
@@mandusjonsson3811 lmao my honda battery died from the cold air hitting it on the way to a jday anything under 30degrees for over 2 hrs in the bed kills it and I have to popstart it right before the race to charge the battery its sad
@@KgiMedia601 Sounds like you just have a shiet battery in your bike.
100% agree I’m selling my yz125 and moving to a 250f and the Rmz is the only option lol
MXA should have on staff a 5'5 inch 285lb rider to flatten out the stiff suspension on this RMZ-250.
Because they haven’t made changes, I was able to pick up a 22 for literally half the price of some other manufacturers. I don’t race. I go to tracks to ride and do some free riding with friends in the desert. Plenty of bike for me.
@Kaden Miller 5,900
Best looking bike, just not technology.
YO MXA do something about these bots!☝️
Someone should test/review the bike with the free Yosh RS-12 exhaust Suzuki is including.
my favorite bike... 👍
beautiful bike
People care more about paper statistics rather than hands-on experience. Throw a leg over this machine without reading all the negatives that people didn't actually experience, they mostly copy and paste bad "information". I hope Ken Rocz brings back some RM hype and people start giving them a chance
With how Kenny is doing right now we may see some more RND in the future. And if they come with an off road lineup then I’m automatically sold imagine it! RMZ250/450X
there is noone that can ride it to its potential anyway im sure its perfect average-stifff suspension is good cause it works hey 4:12 remind me where you finished in the outdoor nationals i dont recall seeing you on the podium anywhere
I'd play ride on this RMZ-250. I don't hate it, and for a goofy novice rider like me it just might not kill me like the 2023 YZ250 2 stroke I'll soon have.
The stiff suspension might be low key big brain. Stiff enough for fast guys to ride hard at big tracks, and also better for the average budget bike buyer which based on people I know are 200+lbs.
Where do you live, Houston Texas? Lol. Average bike buyer being 200+ lbs seems a lil high..no offense
Opposite way, Minnesota lol. But I was referencing 30+ year old dudes wanting a reliable bike to ride for fun or getting into vet classes, but you're right probly a stretch. Let's say 180+ haha
If you speak again with the Suzuki staf tell them to start the production of the 2 stroke dirt bikes we are all sick of this 4 stroke that cost allot the mentenance and the parts and get broke quite often, same for Honda and Kawasaki.
it'll work for me
I love these bikes, but it needs the electric start.
What is the average price of this bike?
Just rebuit a 22'.....110 hrs and the intake cam had severe worn lobes
It’s is the most beautiful
Does it have electric start ?
Motocross Action magazine completely take only the muffler off of the rmz250 stock and it will wake the bike up so much that you will think is modded without that muffler, sooo faast‼️now it can go heads up with my 250sx🤯
I guarantee is Suzuki put on the electric start that right there would make the value and wants of the bike a lot more.
Wish Suzuki didn’t give up on the sport as much as they have it will be a sad day for all if they really do fold all together.
Still kick starter 😁
If they would just fix the suspension an ad electric start more people would be on board
Really wanna buy one to two stroke swap but I think I’d have to ride it stock a couple times for fun!
All we need is an electric start, that’s all we need and i would buy one
Working at a Yamaha dealer constantly changing batteries and hearing people complaining about getting stranded because of a dead battery. Keeping the kickstart is one of the best things
@@ls1_cammeroh really? That mustn’t be that common in track bikes tho
@@Team_Banchamek actually had a couple where a starter wire came lose or battery wire they were racing and wrecked wouldn’t start back up but yeah not as common on the track
Literally costs less than a lot of mountain bikes. I myself have a TC250 that I can't ride even close to its potential. This bike is more than enough for a lot of people, myself included.
Well that's because you have a boyfriend
I think it's cool how he stats low and glides thru the corners...u can keep a lot of speed that way....yea like a speed skater....
Электро стартер поставили уже?
Sick as fck
My 95 CR 250 pumps out 39 horsepower on a 'conservative' dyno. C'mon suzuki!
Serious about MX bikes? Are you kidding? Suzuki, how difficult would it be for you to add some of the current tech on your MX bikes? Like electric start? Shed a few pounds? EMC modes? Come on, same as last year? Don't you mean same as every year for the past 4 years? Suzuki has been making motorcycles for a long time... I wish Suzuki would come out with an official statement explaining why they have neglected their dirt bikes? Love your videos (don't kill the messenger). Thank you.
they are a filling a hole in the market with a bike that is affordable and good quality. All those features are a luxury more than a necessity. The guy in the video proves that the bike is more than capable for the avg rider
@@chasemoneyy I agree with you... but it sounds like a really good bike for Vet class riders, especially if they can put an electric start on it. Old farts don't like to kick those things when they are hot. I guess the price of those has really come down if you can get them new for 6K and change???
They’ve had updates in the last four years… go read before you comment
@@Owen-dw5hj OK Mr. KnowItAll:
"Suzuki didn't make any changes to the 2023 RM-Z450 from the 2022 version. The current 2022 RM-Z450 package was first introduced in 2018, received a minor shock spring update in 2019 (from a 56 N/mm spring to a 54 N/mm spring) and was untouched 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023."
@@jedielder7970 they’re incorrect. The mx tuner app thing is an update. A major one.
If suzuki started selling two strokes again, It's sales would exceed all the other brands.
Idk man, 4 years and they cant update the bike
Cant even find them in nz.
Looks like they shortened up that exhaust, needed to be done
How could Suzuki not update after all that negative media this bike has gotten. Unbelievable.
They won't recoup the money, unfortunately it's all about business
#94. ??? What are you trying to tell us?
👍🤙
We wanna see Trevor Hunter on the bike with $ 4 $ comparison
They are serious about motocross bikes and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
Year: 2030 RMZ still remains unchanged
They waiting for 2 strokes to return to drop the R & D and a new bike, LMAO.
Podlewsky królem suzuki
RMZってKXFのOEMじゃなかったっけ?契約終わってなかったか?
I love um. There are too many haters in this industry
suzuki should produce an X model like kawi. I would buy it for the money.
Waooooooooo my favrete machine but not my Range 😓😓😓
That's fast....I had the '11 and the '90 RM 80....or at least I chose that one after being Honda the whole time....

After you ride a rmz 250 or 450 you will see why people love them.
Roczen number 94? Is he going to suzuki maybe
😃👍
We all got haters. The Suzuki haters gotta be educated
When is the R.D. department going to update there bikes!!!!! WTH🤦♂️
What R&D department sadly I don’t know if they still have one they have no race teams at all now.
Where are you finding bikes this cheap????
In a motorcycle shop.
@@bella0167 amazing insight there, Short-Bus.
But it win the shootout (the 80) for the first time that year and they said had a 'mellower' powerband I desired as a first time 2-Strike rider...I was 14....

Ta bom entao eu presisava nem fosse 🐓🐓🐓👍🏿🤣😎
if you need electric start then buy a street bike this is motocross leectric start does not make you faster neither does a hydraulic clutch and Suzuki should make 2 strokes this whole 4 banger movement dont make sense you guys couldnt handle the 500 so they go to 4 bagers cause easier to ride thats why you babies want electric start pull your head out

Still other two strokes being made these days. Real let down Suzuki.
2023 kick start LOL

Suzuki really don't care about riders these days, they need change something at least

If you're not a pro, then any brand of 450 is enough for you. I cant believe these fanboys and their hate, they must be kids, right? I've never in my life met anyone that "hates" another brand.
i had a rmz 250 ,2008 that was the worst bike i have ever had !durability horrible
