Saw them in St. Louis years ago. Skynyrd opened for ZZ. First thing they did was drop a huge confederate flag from the balcony as Johnny Van Zant announced, "Ain't gonna be any rap music in here tonight." The crowd went nuts.
The patriarch, Lacy Van Zant told Johnny to take the torch and run with it, and that Ronnie would approve. I think they do a damn good job, since all the others are basically gone. GET OVER,......DON'T BUY A DAMN TICKET IF YOU DISAPPROVE!

I saw them with Ronnie. Saw them with Ed. Saw them with all the real members. This is NOT Lynyrd Skynyrd. I hope his brother and the boys in this band make a killing, have no issue with that either. But dont come at people with “Lacy approved!” F Lacy.
When Lynyrd Skynyrd was faced with the difficult decision to return to the stage following the 1977 crash, it was Lacy whose words spurred Johnny Van Zant into action and back onto the stage, taking his rightful place at the front of the band in his brother’s honor. Late keyboardist Billy Powell once reflected the conversation that took place between Lacy and Johnny, saying, “Ronnie wrote most of the music, and for it to die with Ronnie was ridiculous in Lacy’s mind,” Powell said. “Lacy was glad the music went on.”
Look cut the crap. Skynyrd music is bigger than any single member. Nearly every Album had a different line up over the years. Johnnys been singing longer than Ronnie and Ronnie was going to gave him replace him. These guys other than Damon have a number of years in the group. Ricky was there at the start. He not only played but sang lead on the early stuff. Damon not only is a pro but one of the best southern guitarist and was chosen by Gary. Look the others are gone and they are not coming back. Had they stopped many today would never know their music. Today they are 4 generations deep. We have to counter the Taylor Swift crisp as well much of the stuff posing as country or southern Rock. Only BlackBerry Smoke comes close
Johnny Van Zant is a very good singer, Rickey Medlocke is a great guitarist, the other members of the band are also great musicians. I just wish they would stop calling themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd, LS Experience or something like that would be more appropriate.

Odd choice 🤔 AC-DC song playing to a Skynyrd slide show 🤔 that is a serious head scratcher to me. It REALLY is. Nothing against AC-DC but just WHY ?? It makes absolutely ZERO sense.

I have seen them 53 times always awesome my favorite band of my lifetime. I GREW up just 5 miles from studio one in Doraville Ga where they recorded
