Every single time, for ALL of my 47 years, the volume is cranked up any time these absolutely legendary badasses come on. Whether it was done by one of my parents or myself. Literally grew up on this. One of the great regrets of my life is that I never saw them in concert before Dusty passed away. You might be cool. You’ll NEVER be as cool as these men.

Unfortunately and sadly when the rave scene was started and disco and all that the party did for me except when I sit in my room and put some of these old tunes on. I may be by myself now, but the party still rocks on here in my mind. And it rocks to the tune of that old time rock and roll, not rap!

I like the intro to Precious and Grace - "picked up two women hitchhiking". In 75 I saw them in Lubbock at the big arena, 9 or 10 thousand stoned fans. Billy introduced the song that they were cruising thru Huntsville by the Texas Womens prison and saw two women hitchiking. Picked them up and it turns out they just got out of prison after quite a while of incarceration and were looking to kick up their heels a little - one was named Precious and one was named Grace and.. .. .. " Great concert. Every long distance drivers dream come true..... I keep looking....
No matter which guitar Billy plays, he sounds the same -- hot, funky, and good. He's the master of superb rock tone; he knows in his Texan guts that while shredding impresses people, it doesn't move them, and the best music, the music we remember and love, moves us.
He has a whole array of electronics that replicates the sound of his Gibson Les Paul he named "Pearly Gates". Regardless of the guitar Billy's playing, it sounds like that vintage Gibson. He no longer tours with the Gibson for fear of damage or theft. Billy has several custom made guitars he now uses.

My youngest son, a guitar player, and I saw Lynyrd Skynryd and ZZ Topp a few years ago. He was in his early 20s. I told him then that he could one day tell his friends about seeing these guys live. He also saw several other classic bands with me. I once asked him if he would be embarassed to be seen with his father at such concerts? He replied, nobody his age will be within 100 miles of here. He loves classic rock, blues and especially jazz. He asked me to see B.B. King with him that same year. Buddy Guy was the opening act. Buddy came into the audience with a wireless connection to his amp and played a solo 5" from our seats.
I saw these guys at the road house on state street in Salt Lake City, they were the warm up group for Kiss 💋 never had heard of them before, they came out wearing cowboy hats and blew me away... jessenashvillejames 👍

Today is a very sad day for me. One of my favorite childhood memories died.💔🤍💙 Just found out today. I'm happy I got to see them at the rodeo last year. I always said wen I finally ride the big rig that I would play their music and sure enuf I did just that today then come home after work to find that he passed a week ago. I was lucky enough to see these guy's one time. They blew me away. When they started the show, it was kind of laid back, but by the end of the show, they came out and it was all leather, spikes chrome light and VOLUME. I will never forget that jam.
I don't think anyone ever did it as good as ZZ Top. Was lucky enough to see them once. By the end of the show there wasn't a single person still sitting in their seat (despite the 100+ degree weather that day). Dusty was also kind enough to hit us with the "Black Tie" twice during sharp dressed man. True showman! RIP. Look forward to seeing your great gig in the sky (I hear Jesus is a beast on a 6-string)
Been watching a lot of their more recent concert videos lately, reminicing. This is one of the best! First saw them in '71 when they were opening for Ten Years After. To my suprise Billy G. blew Alvin Lee away that night. Wish we could find some of those hungry early years videos.

I have seen ZZ TOP 8 times, the day Dusty passed I was ready for a show in simpsonville south Carolina. It was put on hold, maybe for ever. Im not sure if it is possible to fill the boots Mr DUSTY HILL. HEAVEN recieved a very special angel in cowboy atire and aBeard , ok Jesus give him his wings.

That is t[o bad you did not get to see them Live,.Man they Rockef,wherrever Z,Z TOPP PLAYED.l live in Memohis, saw them maybe more than l have seen the Rolling Stones.They used to come to the Mid -South Colisium,EVERY,4th of July,and New Years Eve,Whew they literally blew the squares put of the ceiling, They were falling down,ALL over the place,They were very light, NO one hurt,Crowd was going nuts.Played at the Memohis in May one time,l think.Roy Orbison was there,Wailin away.Man l have seen some damn Fantastic shows in Memphis and surrounding Area's.This is an Excellent Show ,here,.Great post.Lots of Oldies.Just played the Orpheum here in Memohis.BILLY GIBBONS is Still ROCKIN,But DUSTY HILL is truly missed,MAY DUSTY HILL R.I.P.The Big BAD Blues is EXCELLENT and There is another one,One coming out right before Christmas, So l hear.Taje CARE and STAY Well. I was lucky enough to see these guy's one time. They blew me away. When they started the show, it was kind of laid back, but by the end of the show, they came out and it was all leather, spikes chrome light and VOLUME. I will never forget that jam.

I don't think anyone ever did it as good as ZZ Top. Was lucky enough to see them once. By the end of the show there wasn't a single person still sitting in their seat (despite the 100+ degree weather that day). Dusty was also kind enough to hit us with the "Black Tie" twice during sharp dressed man.

Been watching a lot of their
more recent concert videos lately, reminicing. This is one of the best! First saw them in '71 when they were opening for Ten Years After. To my suprise Billy G. blew Alvin Lee away that night. Wish we could find some of those hungry early years videos.

This is so good , I can't believe how good a bass player Dusty Hill is . His right hand is just red Hot Billy. I noticed there is no Bass player on stage with your new line up. I love your playing Billy but Dusty Hill is a hard act to follow !!! I wish you all the best with your new line up , but I'll never stop loving the three amigos from Texas . Frank Beard too is a hard act to follow!!! You were just too good Brother!!!

I have seen ZZ TOP 8 times, the day Dusty passed I was
ready for a show in simpsonville south Carolina. It was put on hold, maybe for ever. Im not sure if it is possible to fill the boots Mr DUSTY HILL. HEAVEN recieved a very special angel in cowboy atire and aBeard , ok Jesus give him his wings.
