You did a great job! I have the same truck and in all of the videos I've seen, they couldn't make the steering wheel controls to work or connect the dvd in the back.
It's green on the wire harness that comes with the radio. On the car u have to open one of the taillights and look at the pig tail for the reverse light and follow that to the front left pillar by the pedals to tap into
The information here is good. However, when will people finally learn to turn the phone sideways so they record in widescreen mode? I’m watching a video here that’s either very small at the top of my phone or with a lot of wasted space with the phone turned sideways. It’s almost dizzying.
i would love this exact set up on my 06 eddie baure but after all that did the rear dvd still work for the kids? how hard was the harness and wires to figure out. would you recommend having a professional do it?
Jonathon Schlanger Well it really depends on your logic. A lot of the wire are color coded and they go with each other like the speaker wire. The rear dvd does work you just have to buy the extra harness that maintains the rear dvd functionality. All it is, is a plug with ground wire, power wire, blue turn on wire and 2 RCA cables that retain sound and turn on the dvd. You can't control the DVD from the head unit. All it does is it retain power and audio so the kids can watch it. The beginning of my video gives you details on what to buy.
I'm trying to figure out what the hell are the part stores selling as wiring harnesses because the ones i see connect to the a/c port. Like wtf. The radio ports not used when aftermarket installing?
I have ford expedition 2003 eddie B. I got some issues wiring new wheel steering Interface. it flash one time green. then stays red. can you tell me or someone my Ford was made on 02/03. I am using the ground from factory radio not from chassis what is the difference between both of them. according to AXXES, I supposed to connected to pin 11, but it not working for me. it not detecting the card the interface. can you tell me what wire did you use. Also, I got a New Boss Radio . I a m not getting the sound from rear factory dvd player. it got power , but not audio just a feedback. I tested every input AV, rear input, front input. I select AV in front touch screen, I tried AUX , but i can't sound. If it got power it can sound too. I believe I doing wrong, but I can't figure out what is it. I Called Metra, and the guy. my ford it is early version so the audio won't work for rear dvd. I doubt it , like it say it got power it turn on manually, but it turn off when I turn car key.. Everthing else work fine for me. usb, gps, audio for all doors, and Bluetooth.
cristhian del socorro campos carranza your radio prolly doesn’t have the feature to allow it to be controlled by an external controller so it might not work with your radio
I didn't see anything on the Crux site, but a few days after I installed the radio, I spliced in an Axxess Interface AFDI-5V Ford 12V to 5V Step Down. I used a multimeter and confirmed 5v were going to the subwoofer. Was there any added grounding you did? Did you splice the new radios ground into the ground on the factory harness?

Chris Pagan. Is there a particular harness that has to be purchase for the factory subwoofer. Because im getting nothing from mine with the harness i have running my aftermarket radio.

But my question for you is the metra harnes came with 2 amp output wires( blue with white stripes) i hooked both the blue with white stripe wire into my power antenna/ amplifier remote turn on wire. wanted to know if that was the right way or is there another way to tie the wires in so the factory sub can work and should i tie both in or just one, also the red and white jacks wanted to know should those be plugged in the input or the output aux hook ups.
I have this same radio. The face is not detachable. It DOES have a video out port on the back so if your rear DVD player has a video in, it will work. I ran my yellow RCA video out to my in-ceiling DVD player which has a video in spot. The radio displays the DVD and controls the audio, the rear DVD player works as a 2nd display.
Skyefuego ohh, I see what you're wanting to do. No you wouldn't be able to do multiple sources like that. You could only watch a DVD in back while listening to the radio if both are separate systems. Like a stand alone DVD player in back and the Pioneer in front. My stand alone DVD player in the back just happens to have a video in option. It's just mirroring what the pioneer is displaying.
Would have been helpful if you showed what each of the wires in the harness was. You spent 3 hours of chaos that could have helped someone else out. Now, everyone else has to spend the same 3 hours figuring it out.

Did you have any issues with the sub thump? I think the Crux harness has the 5v converter, but I still get the thump.
You have to buy an extra adapter from cruz that takes care of that

Yes if you look at the video the beginning part shows you the extra part that you need to buy it's a metra kit to retain the subwoofer.
It's the Crutchfield main harness
so with that amp harness everything is plug and play. Would i have to run a remote wire to the factory amp.
No that harness powers the amp and then you hook the 2 RCA wires it brings to the back of the radio
