Good video...I have replaced the cruise control switch on the brake pedal which solved my intermittent cruise control faults but the buttons need replacement also. Bought a set at O'Reilly for $88.99. Replacing the controls tomorrow. Looks like an easy job.

FYI, here are the part numbers for Ford Explorer 2002-2006: Motorcraft SW6003 or Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 1L2T14K147BA, 1L2Z9C888BA, 3L2T14K147BA. Brand new they are $150 and up, so either removal and cleaning or picking one from a junkyard are much better options.
'06 Expedition-just ordered new buttons for $60 from RockAuto.com My old ones worked when they wanted to. Probably just dirty contacts but i figured if you take all that time to remove them to clean them. Just go ahead and put a new working part back on.

Replaced my controls today..took about 20 minutes after letting the airbag sit for 30 min after unhooked battery. Just got back from test drive and my cruise control is as good as new. I didn't realize how sticky all of the steering mounted controls had gotten. Motorcraft sw 6003 from O'Reilly $88.00 + Motorcraft sw 6546 cruise control switch from Amazon $7.55 did the trick!

I noticed that initially the replacement buttons did not work. Can you please tell us how you got it to eventually work? Thank you.
Since the new controls didn't work, that suggests the relay down by the brake pedal needs replaced. They're like $8 on Amazon. Easy fix.

Just a heads up if you remove the airbag vehicle needs to sit for at least 30 minutes so that the airbag can de charge
