    Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!!

    I use Redington. Had them for quite a few years. They do not leak and they have a zipper so I can take care of business without disrobing. That is the main reason I bought them. At the time the only other waders with a zipper were Cabela's 5mm neoprene.

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 года назад +1

      Zipper seemingly does make it more convenient - I should have considered that before I bought my Simms G4. At the time - I didn’t trust the zipper for being leak proof.

    Thanks for the review on waders. Just purchased the Simms Freestone waders hanging on the left a few months ago. They are awesome! 👍👍 In Texas I’ll only need them a few months out of the year..but when we had the ice storm this year..I was fishing (with fleece under layer) for many hours at a time. Highly recommend! Have a great weekend Dan..hope you get some Fish On! 🎣👌

    I have heard there are some shortages on waders this year. Do you know if all brands are affected and what the lead time is for common sizes?

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 года назад +1

      The US brands haven’t been effected as much - Simms (made in Bozeman MT) are still readily available. He had several various sizes in stock.

      @@FlyFishDan That's good news. My original Simms Guide waders (purchased in 1994) finally starting leaking last season. I have patched them the best I can but it is time for a new set. Hope I can get another 25 seasons out of the next pair!

    I am just thinking about getting in the water and fly fishing because in New Hampshire there are several water ways that only allow fly fishing. Your description "Getting Started..." was sort of informative and hooked by but is way out of my investment range considering I haven't even picked up any gear yet. Might want to changed the title.

    Let’s not act like simms waders won’t leak. I’ve had two sets that leaked after one season of use in each of them. For all the talk about them I was very dissatisfied. They are comfortable but all waders will leak

    • @FlyFishDan

      Thanks Alan - I have been pretty fortunate with my Simms so far. Beat them to death too...but always keep them hanging in the garage and dried out. Even bush whacked recently through sticks and stickers and no leaks. Two years and still going strong. Cheers!

    $750 holy crap. Do the waders also land the trout for me as well? For that price point, they better be doing more than keeping the water out!

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 года назад +1

      Lol - they are expensive for sure. I used to buy the more budget waders until I finally got tired of fighting the leaks. My new Simms have been bullet proof - tons of fishing, one full year, no problems at all. Thanks for watching!

    Cool shop. But you shouldn’t start out with mega $ waders until you’re committed to doing a lot of fly fishing. Those waders are not for newbies to our sport. The Simms G series & the Patagonias are for guides & very seasoned fly fishermen.
