    Nick, can you address the difference between a pistol grip and hammer grip on the OHBH and where your heel pad should rest on the grip? The RacquetFlex channel has a video where they suggest that a hammer grip be used and the grip should run along your index knuckle and palm, rather than index knuckle and heel pad. Thanks for all of the great videos that produce.

    the problem with the one-handed backhand is not the lightly thrown ball but the high deep ball. It is extremely difficult for an amateur to perform a good backspin with a high deep ball.
    I don't know why coaches don't run the high deep ball in the back anymore...

    @intuiive tennis Did you teach him purposefully to start with his pelvis not facing the side fence at take back but already slightly uncoiled? I notice his shoulder turn is solid, but on every single ball he hits, his pelvis is not facing the side fence, but actually already 10 degrees open before he even swings forward. Just wondering if you specifically taught him this or if this is just something that works for him?

    it's much easier to hit low backhands frankly because you have to load the front leg in order to get it over the net. At least that is what it feels to me, A higher bouncing ball is more difficult to hit with power imho.

    Is it better the one handed or the two handed backhand?

    • @LunarEclipsism1
      @LunarEclipsism1 Год назад +1

      There is no "better." The one-handed backhand, at the very highest levels of play (Henin, Wawrinka, etc.) has the potential to deliver more pace and spin than the two-hander because it has a longer swingpath and is struck further out from the body. But the two-handed backhand is inherently more stable and can tolerate more variation in the contact point, especially when players are caught late or dealing with high-bouncing balls. Most players, especially at the recreational level, will be more consistent and have better control with two hands. But a small percentage of people find the one-handed backhand drive to be a more natural motion that they have better control with intuitively. It's also usually FASTER to learn and develop a reliable two-handed backhand than a reliable one-handed backhand, most players need a longer development period to become proficient with a one-hander. But that doesn't translate to "this particular stroke is better or worse than the other." Just different.

      @Tennis214 Год назад

      Have to finish high on the modern one hander. More topspin with a vertical swing path and follow through. A lot of pros even follow through lifting high on their front foot toes for more low to high emphasis
