We used the material from IMSLP but changed a few things. If I remember right there is no break for the bassoon in the first movement in this arrangement and we organized that a bit. Sometimes we did the continuo with only 1 cello but that we decided spontaniously. Are you going to play the piece with orchestra?
Yes, it has frequently been performed and recorded with an obo. But this is a concerto, that has been attempted reconstructed from Bach's harpsichord concerto BWV 1053 - which itself is the arrangement of an earlier, now lost concerto. So nobody really knows which solo instrument it was originally written for, or in what key it was originally composed. Therefore, bassoon is as good a choice as any other instrument that was being available to Bach. 😃
@@reneblom2160 The outer movements were originally from an organ concerto which Bach performed in a recital in Dresden. The middle movement was derived from an aria for alto, organ and continuo.
@@herrickinman9303 Since Bach so frequently reused his own material in different settings, it can be difficult to establish which version is the original one. I believe Bach also used the outer movements as cantata Sinfonias or instrumental interludes.
@@reneblom2160 I didn't just pull that out of my ass, and you're not telling me anything I didn't already know. Take up your argument with Bach scholar Christoph Wolff.

Before each movement.
Where can I find/buy this arrangement? There is one on imslp, but it doesn't seem quite like this one

It's an original Oboé concerto.

É um Polisi?
Ah, the bassoon can do what the oboe can't at 10:58 in the second movement.
The 2nd movement was originally an aria for alto, organ and strings.
É um Polisi?
Is it a Polisi?
Beau son, belle virtuosité, plus de force serait la bienvenue. Mais bravo!
