I’ve been driving pickups for 30 years. I just transitioned from a truck with 35” tires and 6” lift. My first Jeep. It’s way different from my trucks but it’s zippier than any of my trucks and turn radius is like nothing I’ve ever driven. TIGHT! My brother and his wife said the steering has a lot of play but I’m not sure if I’m just desensitized or used to driving trucks. It has more play but not annoyingly so for me. I have a Sport Altitude though so the 31”ish size tires could also be not as noticeable as 35” tires. I’m planning on going up to a 33” tire in the future. I guess part of the Jeep thing is knowing going into it that it’s going to be very different from any other vehicle. So far I’m liking it.
oh yea, definitely a completely different vehicle for sure. I can put up with everything else but the steering is wild and I really do think it's just my particular case.
Sad story…I sold my beloved (no problems) JK for JL well…I got the steering problem after 3 months old…I told them about it & that they need to adjust it since it was too lost on the freeway…They replaced that part that it was in recall for me already so they fixed & so my steer wheel feels tighter when I drive now (you might need that too) Thanks God 2 years later my Jeep is doing really well!
Yea they replaced my steering box, I have a steering stabilizer and the shaft brace, I lowered my tire pressure more too. It's a bit more manageable now
I love the look of that Jeep and capability of it, but I heat lost of peoples talking about that steering wheel problem, my friend also told me same thing that i should rent it and drive it first. Thanks for sharing your experience.
There are several youtube videos on how to adjust the sector shaft via your steering gear box. It will tighten your steering and you will have less wander worth a shot you already tried everything else. Also as someone else recommended try the metacloak drop brackets so you can align the jeep.
I am an older person in my 70's and have a 2022 black on black Wrangler Rubicon. It looks like yours. So far, I really like driving it. I came from a Ford Raptor, and it is a transition. My eyes were causing me to have difficulty judging distance with a big truck and the Jeep has all of the open window space which really helps me see and provides more light. The Rubicon gives ma a bit of the Raptor feel in a small package. My only concern is will it start to rust? I will be very disappointed if rust starts to appear.
Swap the front lower control arms to the ones which are in the Mopar Lift kit… pretty cheap ($100 if that?) and easy enough to wrench yourself in the garage. Try and find some used ones for sale on the forums
Love you Jeep’s look! I have a blacked out JKU I’ve put work into, and in the middle of thinking about a JL Unlimited Rubicon 4Xe. Those look like the same Black Rhino’s the dealer is suggesting to me. Can you tell me the details on your rims (17”? Backspacing on the rim? Wheel spacers?), and the rest of the Jeep as well (what do you have for a lift?). Thanks so much in advance for any info you can provide!
Thank you, they are the Black Rhino Apache 18x9, -18 Offset and the tires are Open Country R/T 35x12.5. I don't have any spacers and I don't have any lift on it, the fenders on the rubicon sits a little higher than the other models. It’s so frustrating to see what you’ve experienced, especially given that this model has been around for several years and there’s no excuse as to why these problems haven’t been permanently fixed in all wranglers. The price just adds more frustration because this is not a cheap vehicle. I hope the Bronco puts it to shame and forces Jeep to carefully fix the known issues. The standard’ “It’s a Jeep Thing,” is nauseating. The number of recalls including the clutch is just so off putting. I still have hope that you will eventually get this car to track perfectly straight. I’m kinda stunned that despite the many issues, Jeep wouldn’t at the very least initiate the buy back. Hang in there!!! It is beautiful at least. I drove a car that wandered too but it was a 1970 with an old rebuilt steering box and it literally ruined the driving experience so I feel your pain.

The Bronco definitely has its issues with the soft and hard tops, the whistles and delays but it’s a brand new vehicle, so it’s pretty much expected for year one. Give them another year or two, and they will work out some of the issues. It sounds like new orders won’t even arrive for at least 18 months. Everyone is pretty happy with how it rides and tracks perfectly straight and it’s really expected because of the ifs. It’s basically an suv. I realize the wrangler has a solid front axle but the fact that some have the wandering while others don’t really is so confusing. I had a wrangler years ago and never had any wandering issues thankfully. Let’s hope there’s a solid ‘23 refresh that finally puts these issues to rest once and for all. I feel like in your case, unless it tracks straight you’re never going to be able to enjoy it like you deserve. Keep us posted!

Great video. I have a pull to the right on my JL too. No wander though. The Jeep dealers are terrible. They don't care. Try to find a local off-road shop you can trust.
@@TanDiego Yes, I had the dealer replace my steering box. It helped firm up steering and I have better control of my Jeep on the highway. I notice when it's windy this has the greatest affect on wandering. That's what we get for driving a car shaped like a box. The constant pull to the right is the most annoying. I think changing up my suspension was to blame. I need to loosen all the control arms and then tighten everything down again on level ground. Then get an alignment.
@@RyanRij definitely has its quirks for sure, some people were telling me to change the control arms to get rid of the wandering. did you do aftermarkets? The sector shaft brace for sure helped a lot and also lower my psi to 32.

Well, I can symphatize with the issue you are having with your new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. I been researching the Wrangler as you did, and this video alerted me to a problem that thousands of other Jeep Wrangler owners are having. Also, the Jeep manufacturer has been aware of this problem since 2018 and should fix it immediately. It seems that the manufacturer treated you as if you were the first person to make this complaint. They knew before you called. Try contacting and filing a compaint with your "State Consumer Protection Agency" and the "Federal Trade Commissin" or contact a lawyer that is familiar with these issues. To my knowledge, it's after three times having the dealer deal with a particular issue that the "Lemon Law" takes effect. Also, if you keep it, the manufacturer should replace the complete steering system. It's hard to enjoy a car when the vehicle has a serious problem. If I order the Rubicon, I am going to test drive the specific Wrangler Rubicon that I'm going to buy. I hope you get the steering problem fixed. It's a nice looking Rubicon. Don't give up on the Jeep, it's been in use for 80 years. This should not have happened. Good luck and keep us updated. Thanks for the information.
Thank you. The jeep does drive a little better now with the brace on. I still haven’t heard anything from corporate as they are supposed to do an alignment after they put the brace on which I don’t think they will… so it’s more money out of my pocket again to make it drive right. It has definitely left me questioning the brand overall. I’m at the point where I don’t know if I should just sell it or not. I just can’t keep putting money into this already expensive car. Other people are suggesting I install new lower control arms and I think even if I go for it and it does drive better, I already have a sour taste in my mouth that I think I won’t enjoy it.
@@TanDiego I rewatched your first video, and I get the impression that you put the 35 inch tires after the purchase. I also saw that you were doing something with the spare tire mount possibly for the 35-inch spare tire. If you would of bought the "Xtreme Recon 35-Inch Tire Package" your Rubicon may not be having the steering issue that it has. The package comes with a "17-inch x 8-inch Beadlock-Capable Wheel" and 35-inch tires, a "35-inch Tire Suspension", and a "Tire Relocation Kit" which is a spare tire mount to put the 35-inch spare tire on. The "35-inch Tire Suspension" may have prevented the steering issue, but I am not sure. If I was in the situation that you are in, I may have sold the Jeep and bought a Rubicon with the "Xtreme Recon 35-inch Tire Package". This package would have paid for itself especially since you paid a lot of money for 35-inch tires, and you would not of had to spend additional money to correct the steering. Also, the "Tire Relocatin Kit" would solve the problem of putting a 35-inch tire on the spare tire mount. This is why, if I still buy the Rubicon, I would purchase the Xtreme Recon package. In my initial comment, I said, "Don't give up on the Jeep". What I meant was don't give up on the Jeep brand: it's been around for 80 years for a reason. One last thing: Don't be a nice guy--see a lawyer and complain to the agencies that I mentioned in my initial comment. I want to see you enjoy your Rubicon. Good luck.
@@TanDiego Go test drive a stock Rubicon with KO2 tires. Your RT's with wider tires will pull you into the ruts or cracks on the road. What tire pressure are you running?
@@TanDiego I'm not arguing, I'm sure your Jeep sucks to drive. I had a JKUR and now a JLUR also and both vehicles drives great. My wife has no problem driving any of my Jeep's either. And we live in OC CA so I'm sure we travel on some of the same fwys to compare.

I've had american cars and as much as I want to support my country the cars are shit. Fit and finish is horrible its like everyone is hung over on the assembly line.
I lifted mine for the 35” tires. The mopar lift really made the car solid.

I would suggest metal cloak lower control arm drop brackets this will allow you to adjust your caster.

it came with mountain tires, it was worst, these tires are much more stable.
