@ Yeah I agree. My previous machines had 32gb of ram and I never once maxed the ram out like I do on this machine. My goal is to get the 48gb like you.
Great video, I like your direct delivery of info without the fluff. You can get the 16 core CPU in the 14 inch MacBook Pro with M4 Max chip as an upgrade. I plan on getting this config with 48 GB of unified memory.
Thank you on the website I can’t see the 16 core option for the 14 inch. The highest I’m seeing is the 14 core cpu for the 14inch. Thanks for watching.
I'm definitely getting a new M4 Mini... Still wondering if i should get the base model and max out ram and ssd, or go for the pro, and back off on the ram and ssd
I ended up upgrading from my M1 Mac Mini (8GB of RAM) to the M4 Pro Mac Mini with 24 GB of RAM. Hoenstly, I'm excited about it!ho'm hoping my Pro Tools, Logic, and LUNA sessions run wayyyyy smoother and faster😤
Going to hold off a bit till I have to replace my old 27" iMac. Also looking at audio software compatibility seems like a lot isn't compatible yet with Sequoia. But that Mac Mini is lookin good.
I ran a base model m1 mini and it was solid and never ran out of processing power. I had the 16 gb version. I definitely felt that I needed more that 256gb but you can make that work.
Yall think 24 will be solid? Solo artist but tryna keep it around for a minute n get a lot of projects done with it . N is the RAM upgradable later? Like swapping them out to get more Or I ain’t able to switch it out?
Fwiw, I'm upgrading despite being a little on the fence about doing so. I'm moving from a Mac Studio M1 Max / 32gb ram --> M4 Pro Mac Mini 14 core / 48gb ram.
I think MacBooks from M Series are good for production if u already got an M 1 and above it's best to keep that do not upgrade but if u are trying to change to Mac it's better to buy the latest as well . Thanks for the great content!
I made the fatal mistake of getting my MBP M1 Pro with only 16gb of ram. I easily max it out when using sample libraries. It’s been a frustrating experience with this machine. I can’t wait to upgrade.
The screens are not "better" they are identical to the M3 screens. They merely unlocked the nits with software. you can already do that on previous macs with "Vivid" software
Really thinking about ordering a new Mac Mini. Trying to justify spending more for the Pro vs the basic with addition of 24 GB ram and 512 GB memory since I plan on adding a fast external drive anyway...Is the pro worth the extra bucks for the extra cores? I'm just trying to start out with music production and trying to fight my tendency to buy waaay more computer than I need for what little I do. A Want absolutely more than a need....
Appreciate the video! Coming from a 2018 Intel Mac mini 32ram. I mainly use logic, reaper and a ton of vsts mostly NI. It’s time to upgrade but Right now struggling between the Mac M2 Max studio or M4 Pro Mac mini 14 core 64 ram. Any thoughts?
If I was you I’d just go with the m4 if it’s an option because it’s going to start with 24 gb and it might be harder to find a good m2 or m1 with more then 16 gb. I use 16 gb on my Mac but I don’t use super ram intensive VST’s
I just ordered the Mac mini fully spec out pre order, I wish the ram went to 128gb ram but 64gb should still be quick with the M4 Pro I'm thinking.... The Mac studio just isn't as good as these new ones now.... nuts! Ive been running the iMac 2020 i9 128gb ram its starting to show its age with music production, slowing down... Anyone wanna buy an iMac 2020 i9 128gb ram lol
@@sjb007brown1 it’s hard to really talk about it when most gear isn’t thunderbolt five and on top of that thunderbolt has been terrible for PC users but it would be nice to see thunderbolt 5 interfaces.
Recently, the Mac Fans claimed that the Mac Studio was Ugly and Industrial-looking, now they brag on the 5” Mac Mini with the same design ethos, although it’s very fast.
M1 Pro is still a BEAST for Muisc production. M4 pro base has 8 Performance cores which is the same as the M1 pro full phat. Unless you can bring the M1 to it's knees (I've never been able to), there is truly no need to upgrade.
you think M1 max 64 GB & 2 SSD (10 core cpu & 32 gpu) is still a good upgrade? im coming from a really old macbook with maybe 8 gb lol but i really need a new laptop
One question...16" screen with 1 TB and 24 or 48 gb? Not composing orchestral music and really dont use any kontakt libraries and my projects have around 30 to 40 tracks in logic pro or ableton. Thanks in advance
Id say if you go with the 16inch with 24 gb you should be fine. I’m using 16 GB on my Mac and it works just fine but if you want to be sure, 48 would be better but you can get away with 24. Thanks for watching.
A so bro the last time I bought a MacBook Pro was in 2014. It crapped out on me in 2021. I took a break. I want to get back into music production you think the m4pro 64 gb ram over kill for Logic Pro?
Like the video gang! Clip overlaying what I’m trying to show at 7:13 sorry
My son is going to major in music production starting in August...I'm going to surprise him with this (just the regular M4). :)
Just buy him a 12core m4 pro series, otherwise it can't handle the projects in the future
@@vinx5518I would say better upgrade ram and storage (1tb preferably)
Just pre-ordered my new M4pro base model - pumped up the RAM. Upgrading from my i5 Intel. Stoked!
Gonna be a crazy improvement. Your head will explode. Lol. Congrats!
Your life is about to change and it may be hard for you to change computers after this. Congratulations!
Holy Moly...you're in for a massive upgrade. Enjoy !!
@@musiccreation1198 losing the jet-engine fans when I'm trying to record will be great in itself! haha. Everything else is a massive plus.
So now question: 24GB or 48GB for music production?
32gb
I think I'll upgrade from my m1 pro to a m4 pro 14 core with 48gb ram
How much ram does your current M1 Pro have? I have 16gb and it gets maxed out when I’m writing.
@@ilikemyrealname i also have 16. i think 36 would be perfect but unfortunately I can only choose 24 or 48 with the 14 core cpu

Yes I'm upgrading to M4 Pro and i'm really excited if not a little daunted!!

Just got my MacBook Pro m4 Im excited to use it for music production school
I got my 14 inch m4 pro otw rn, very exited to finally update from my 2015 mbp
I'm coming from an Acer laptop with an i3 7100u going to an M4 Pro with 14cores.. My socks are about to be blown completely off my body.
game changer, mac OS is really nice as well
I will be upgrading to m4 pro, seems very cool 🙏🏾 and that u87 mic would be handy too
Thanks a lot …. Great help …. Fan from small island Tasmania 🙏
Great video !!! my pockets aren't deep enough for M4. I'm going to wait for the price to come down.
hi! You think that M4 with 24gigs is ok for medium-heavy mixes and mastering sessions?
Thank you for sharing this content btw!
I'm definitely getting a new M4 Mini... Still wondering if i should get the base model and max out ram and ssd, or go for the pro, and back off on the ram and ssd
I’m in the same boat … would be interested in your thoughts!
@ I’ve decided to get the Mac Mini M4 Pro, with 2 tb, and 48gb ram. And the upgraded pro processor
Definitely pre ordered my m4 max
Great content.
Thank you thanks for watching

might have to upgrade
